Being a Travel Advisor, I wanted to experience the Medallion Concept. It was wonderful. So easy to get into your stateroom, by just walking up to it. Also great to keep in contact with family members. The wi-fi was wonderful. Better than any cruise we have taken before I also had this cruise on my bucket list and it did not disappoint. My favoite ports were Boston,Charlotte Town, and Quebec. It is a must to get to the Princess Theater show room in advance or else you will not get a seat. The staff was very friendly and food choices were very good. In the buffet area, they have the greatest system for egg dishes. They give you a buzzer that signals when your eggs are ready to pick up. They were always hot and cooked to perfection. Great service with choices for my friend with a gluten free diet. There was an issue before our cruise that required special sanitation, so while onboard, we were not able to use the salt and pepper shakers on our own. The staff did it for us at the table. It was alittle annoying but kept us all well. All in all it was a great cruise. Read Less

It was a last minute vacation for my husband and I and our 5 kids (13,14,17,19 &20 yrs) The staff was great, friendly, helpful and fun! Loved the medallion and it’s apps! Very innovative and helpful if you aren’t regular cruisers. The only thing I wished is that I’d be able to track the kids under 18 in the other 2 state rooms since we had 3 rooms. But because of their age the app wouldn’t allow me to track them but we all have iPhones so we just texted. WiFi plan purchased workers really well, especially being in the middle of the ocean. Food was tasty and lots of options for the picky or for adventurous taste buds. Didn’t eat 1 thing I didn’t like. Plenty of areas to sit and relax, didn’t feel over crowded in any areas (obviously many people at pools on hot days, but there are multiple pools so it didn’t seem to bother anyone and didn’t seem over crowded). There’s about 4-5 smoking areas. Rooms were stayed on top of, very clean, service was great. The staff remembered your orders or likes almost immediately. Made for a very personal feeling. Entertainment was funny and there was always something going on somewhere. Princess cruises has it down pat all the way around. Looking into sailing with them again next summer. Embarking and disembarking was soooo quick and easy too! Read Less

A simply amazing time being a Suite guest for a week. The western Caribbean itenerary was amazing. The service in the Suite class made all the difference for us. The room size and the service from our steward made us feel special everyday. The ability to have daily laundry and dry service was worth it for us. The extra effort by all the staff to make our cruise special was accomplished. The specialty dining and the "class" dining was amazing. Waiter "Oxana" created the best presentations night after night for our table. We will use Princess for our Alaska trip in July 2020. The "Boss excursion in Roatan was an adventure. The trip across the island was a real eye opener for us to see bars and barbed wire on every house and building. The excursion under the water on the scooter was an adventure that could be "Bucket List" quality. We found that the service from the staff was on point everyday. The casino was clean and inviting to the passing guest. The suite is the way to travel on this cruise line. The special attention by the staff is highlighted by the Medallion that is your access point. The staff automatically knows what guest you are and what status you have for that cruise. We are sold on the medallion program as a cruise enhancement. It is nice to have the staff know who you are and what you like simply by seeing the medallion readout on their computers. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it fit our schedule and we love Princess. The boat is large and clean, the staff is helpful and very courteous, and we see old friends. Princess always takes care of us and we never worry about going to a port where we might have a problem. We love the entertainment. Matt Barnard the cruise director was absolutely OUTSTANDING! One of his staff, Armando-an old friend of ours, was training to become a cruise director. He deserves it because he is so friendly and makes one feel so welcomed. The food was always great. The lunch in the back of the boat was always great. The fajita meat was so tender and juicy that I ate it for lunch everyday that we were on the boat at lunch time. Cozumel was wonderful and we ran into a tour guide friend that we had been with before. A really nice young man. Belize was great. It was just so wonderful, I wish we could leave right now for the same cruise. Princess does respond to your concerns. Please remember that not all sales personnel are good at their jobs. Ms. Kimberley from South Africa was so damned efficient and so helpful, we were floored. We handed in three cards praising her. We have never handed than many praise cards in before. Ms. Julia (Brazil) got two from us and my goodness was she ever effective! We also praised her in the after action report. This was such a great cruise. Our cabin steward was a little slow but we found out that he had more cabins to clean than other stewards. Getting on and off the ship was smooth and safe. Princess is great with security. Read Less

My husband and I decided to do a Caribbean cruise for our anniversary, and my son’s high school graduation. I was a little weary about sailing on a Princess Cruise because it seems to cater to an older crowd, and we had an 18 yr old, 16, and 11 yr old with us. Half the passengers were senior citizens, and the rest were families. All of my kids made friends on board and had a great time. The food was great, the weather was perfect, the islands were beautiful, the crew went out of there way to cater to everyone. There were plenty of lounge chairs, and rarely any lines. The newlywed game and Voice of the Ocean was great. The medallion system and WiFi was exceptional. Movies on deck were great. My kids can’t wait to do another cruise. I like that the atmosphere is low key, and laid back. A slide or two for the kids would be nice, but I would definitely Cruise Princess again. Princess Cays, St. Maarten (Maho beach) St. Thomas (excursion to Trunk Bay St. John’s USVI) Perfect. Getting on and off the ship was well organized too. Read Less

I had heard that the food and service were great The dining room staff was outstanding. Our waiter was Carlos and the Dining Room Captain was Frederick. My nine year old granddaughter asked for strawberry soup and Frederick had it delivered every single night within 5 minutes of being seated even though it was not on the menu. Carlos treated the 2 girls (9 and 6) as princesses. He would bring a chopped fruit cup immediately for the baby. Loved the trip so much I am going again next year and will request both Frederick and Carlos again. Carlos has been on this ship for 14 years. He danced the Macarena with the girls one night. Loved the beaches at all 3 stops in Eastern caribbean. Perfect weather and seas as flat as glass. Port locations in the perfect location from where the ship docked. Medallion class worked perfectly. Boarded the ship within 5 minutes at ll:30 a.m. Virtually walked right on. Read Less

Got a good deal on a cruise for my wife, daughters and their respective beaus' so we decided to take a family vacation from the Pacific Northwest to the Hot Caribbean, and hot it was. The ship was very clean and well kept up and the staff was exceptionally pleasant throughout. Matt the cruise director and his first mate Andy were great and very entertaining and kept us in stiches the whole time we were on board. Our room steward was never far from sight and the room was always impeccable. Food was good but it has digressed form the Princess of 15 years ago but I guess that is true of a lot of things as the accountants take over. Overall the cruise was great and we all had a wonderful time and the Caribbean Princess is a well run well kept ship. We would cruise again on her without hesitation. Read Less

You can relax and enjoy your time and thete is something to do for all ages. The only way to vacation for me now will be cruising. Pools, casino, ocean view, great food, bingo, and night time entertainment all wrapped up in one. It is even better with the medallion, makes everything so easy. We chose our cabin after my husband researched the aft ones. The view could not be beat, as one can see almost all of the port or other islands. Embarkation/Disembarkation was worse than going through TSA at any airport hub. It totally should have taken a lot less than the 30 minutes, coming and going in Port Everglades. Our cabin did not disappoint, as it had lots of closet spaces and plenty of drawers. However, the bathroom could have used an extra sink and some shelves for toiletry storage. The bathtub, with its jets was a complete dream. So good for a soak and rest! Wished that I could have folded it up, and put in the suitcases! The shower was a good one, with a great showerhead that could be adjusted for different streams. The overall shower needed to have a different kind of door that sealed, as there was a stream of water that escaped out the bottom and flooded the bathroom! Dining did not disappoint...plenty of venues and choices. Whether your tastes run to steak, seafood or ice cream, it was all good. The wait staffs and managers were totally top notch!! We had one of our shore excursions cancel, due to nature, and the others were a complete surprise with the places we saw and areas we viewed! Would do it again in a heartbeat!! Read Less

This was my 24th cruise, 3rd on Princess, 1st on this ship. My sister went with me. It was her 1st time on Princess. I choose this cruise because it was in May and it was a short cruise, and I wanted my sister to sail on Princess. Honestly, I read every review on this ship since January and I was more than a little scared about what I had read regarding the condition of the ship. But the purpose was to spend time with my sister so off we went. We flew down the night before and stayed at The Conrad. It was great. The next morning we went to the port at 12:30. We had already received our Medallions and had registered everything prior so we basically were able to walk on the ship. We immediately went up to the Sanctuary on deck 16 to reserve space. This cruise only had 1 port day and 3 sea days. All the loungers were booked (at 12:40) but the cabanas were available Cabanas are a bit pricey, at $140 for half day, but included several things, so we decided to spurge and booked the first and last mornings sessions. Next we went down a deck and ate lunch at the buffet. We walked the entire length of the buffet areas and found everything from the food to the service to the furnishings to be top quality and just excellent. The Planks and Steamers areas décor was beautiful and brand new. Now on to our guestroom. We booked a Club Class Mini Suite, D504 on the Dolphin Deck. When we walked up to the door, the door automatically unlocked, this was great, When we got inside I was SO HAPPY. Everything in the room was BRAND NEW. The beds were new, the carpet was new, the sofa and chairs were new, the drawers and their knobs were new, the TV's were new. In the bathroom the tub was new, the toilet was new, the shower doors and head were new, the floor tiles were new. After unpacking, we explored some of the ship. Just beautiful, everywhere we went everything looked pretty much brand new except for the theater. It didn't look bad, just a bit outdated and the chairs were very small. We went to the muster drill and then I had to go to the medical center because I left some medicine at the hotel and needed to get it replaced. The Doctor and her staff were nice. The cost to see the doctor (they would not just let me get the meds) was $95 plus the cost of the insulin pen $20. I was glad they had the medicine. First night of Club Class Dining- We went early and there was no wait. Service was wonderful and food was very good. We found out from our server that this ship had just spent the last month getting engine repairs and a face lift. That explains everything being brand new. I have to say that Princess must have listened to all the reviews, and they did something about it.. Also, whatever they did to the engines, we felt NO movement on this ship. We did not even have "sea legs" when we got off the ship, which was a first for me. First night show was a comedian. He was funny. Show started at 7:30 and was 90% full. Now, to the casino. I belong to the Princess poker player's club. I recommend this to everyone, as you get special deals emailed to you once in a while. Anyway, I like to play craps and poker. No one was at the poker table, so I played craps. There were only 3 of us playing, but I had a few long rolls. There was a gentleman playing a dragon slot machine right next to us who hit for $10,000. Lucky him! Off to bed. We had breakfast in the dining room. Disappointing. The choices were extremely limited. I ordered a ham and cheese omelet, which came with no ham or cheese. The second one was not much better. I think they just want everyone to go to the lido to breakfast. Off to the Sanctuary. Our cabana was very nice. It included a sofa, chair, 2 loungers, fruit bowl, TV, bar set up, welcome drink and lunch . This area has a great view and easy access to the spa pool. My sister doesn't drink, and I had the alcohol beverage package, so the bar set up was wasted on us, so they gave us a bottle of wine instead. They did take our lunch order too late so we didn't get it before we left. They chased after us saying they would bring it to us to a different location, but we passed on that. I did appreciate the effort. Now to a meeting. Before the cruise I had received an email and an opportunity to participate in a focus group on the ship. I got selected and went to this meeting located in a dining room. About 120 people, we were divided based on the survey we filled out. I was put in the celebrations group (my sister's birthday). The moderator was very good, asking several questions on lots of subjects. We were all able to express the good, the bad, and suggestions. My suggestion was to have some alcohol packages that were per day or a drink card with a certain number of drinks, instead of the whole cruise only package which is way too expensive for people who only want a couple drinks a day. And now the bad news. Starting the night before, I had been coughing and feeling just ok. Now, after this meeting, I met my sister and we had the pizza. It was voted best pizza at sea, and it is the best pizza I have ever had on a cruise. And then I started feeling worse and worse and worse. Bottom line, I went back to the medical clinic. I had a bad sinus infection. The doctor gave me a z pack and Benadryl. I hardly was able to leave my stateroom after that. I only left to get something to eat. We had reservations at the steakhouse that night. We went and it was good, but then I went back to the room. I was coughing so much and so loud that I didn't want to ruin a show and didn't even feel well enough to gamble, which is really saying something. My sister and I had been looking forward to this cruise for months. We don't get to spend much time together and this was going to be extra special being her birthday. We didn't get to see any other shows or even visit some of the nightclubs. My sister stayed with me and read on her ipad. We did not use our cabana on the last sea day, but some one came to our cabin and told us they would not charge us. That was very nice. My sister and I did get to talk and be with each other, which was what we wanted from this cruise. So even with missing out on most of the activities on this now brand new beautiful ship, we both had a great cruise. I would highly recommend this ship. Read Less

Itinerary was one of the main reasons to go on the Caribbean Prince. We have already cruised on this ship and loved it. We were celebrating a few things. My wife's Birthday, my 70th Birthday, and our 25th Weddings Anniversary. First time getting a larger suite, mainly for the size of the room and balcony. Was a little disappointed in the suite, because of the noise, no sun, sleeper sofa, and closet door making so much noise. Also my wife got her finger slammed in the door. Loved San Juan going to the Bacardi Rum distillery was the best your ever. Wish we had more time there to see more of New San Juan. The staff and service was great. Loved going to the Club Class restaurant every night. Everyone was so polite and helpful, all the way from the wait staff to the head chef. So happy with the new Medallion set up. I am now enjoying many different perks and comps at the level of loyalty I have reached and will enjoy even more when I reach the next loyalty level. I intend to book many more cruises with this line . Everything I have experienced on board was up to the standard I expected each time I sailed. I enjoyed the on board amenities and the ports that were visited, Many of the ports have been built to make sightseeing and shopping a pleasure . I'm looking forward to my next cruise and a great time on board. I have found the service and the crew to be excellent , they go out of their way to make your onboard experience a pleasure . We selected this cruise based on the dates more than anything else. We wanted to be away for Christmas and New Years and we had to work with the school schedule since we were traveling with a kid. We flew in the night before to Fort Lauderdale and stayed at the Courtyard Fort Lauderdale Beach. For a hotel to spend a night at before the cruise, it was fine. We took their cruise shuttle to the ship. Embarkation was fine. We got there around 1:30 to avoid the rush. We had done all of the "Ocean Ready" stuff and had all of the pre-registration done that we could do ahead of time. We are also Platinum. But for some reason they made us get into the general boarding line. Since the line was so short, it didn't matter. We got through quickly. The ship is almost done with the Ocean Medallion roll-out but we still got the Medallion and a cruise card. Please note that the cruise card came in a plastic sleeve attached to a lanyard with the medallion. The card was very loose in the sleeve and on several occasions it slipped out. Be warned! The CB has had a lot of upgrades on it. The new buffet was great and we enjoyed it. They also converted the old Cafe Caribe into a BBQ place, Planks, and a crab shack, Steamers. Note that you CAN sit and eat in there for breakfast and lunch without paying a cover charge. The charges only apply for dinner. Let's talk a minute about the Ocean Medallion. There are some features to talk about. First, it opens the door. Now the exact same functionality was served by the cruise card. My medallion didn't work as I approached, I had to take it out of my pocket and hold it up to the screen and then my door would open. So I found it exactly the same as a cruise card and it didn't save me any time. So no difference there. The other feature that we used was that we could go up to any of the large monitors in the hallways and track our shipmates. I found this very useful because we were traveling with our son and every now and then we needed to track him down and this worked great. This was the only feature of the Medallion that I found to be of benefit. The other feature that the "Ocean Navigators" (Princess Staff lurking around the halls who would show you how to use the Medallions) were excited to talk about was the Tagalong. So you can use the phone app or one of the large monitors on the ship to create a custom avatar and then it would appear on monitors around the ship as you walked by. Sometimes your name and face would appear. I found this creepy and weird and I couldn't figure out what the point was. A Navigator did tell me that there are times on the Lido Deck when they have games on the MUTS screen with the Tagalongs like video games. (They called it Games Under the Stars, GUTS, not the most elegant acronym.) So I guess you can have that if you like it. One of the things that Princess was advertising was being able to order bar service and such from your phone app. I didn't find this feature available and when you did order anything, they wanted your Cruise Card and not the Medallion. The only exception was at a few locations they had Medallion readers at the desk or at some of the bars so you could scan it yourself. But if you were ordering from your seat, they still needed the card. Overall, I didn't find much to enjoy or appreciate about the Medallion except the tracking feature when it came to my kid. I suspect that it's not fully developed yet though. So more to come I guess. Not to be confused with the Ocean Medallion is the new Internet product, Medallion.Net, which was EXCELLENT. Best internet access at sea right now. Stable and high-speed. Not much to say about the islands on this trip that hasn't already been said. But one point is that the CB has an engineering limitation right now that prevents her from going full speed. This will be fixed in a future drydock overhaul. There is nothing unsafe about this, but it did mean that one island was dropped from the itinerary because the ship couldn't go fast enough to get there. So Princess gave everyone $50 OBC as recompense, which was fine. Entertainment was a delight. The CD mas Micca Reitano, and the ACDs were Ana, and Dan. All three were just wonderful. However, it did appear that there were a few nights where the entertainment program was lacking. No game show in Explorers, and no production show or performer in the Theater. (Maybe just a movie or a football game... boring! We can watch movies in the cabins.) Our son really enjoyed the kid's club and they were just great with so many kids on board for the holiday cruise. They had a full slate of programming and it was thumbs up all around. One note about the cabins. They put in large flat screen TVs on an articulated wall arm. This is great. What's not so great is that the TV is above the mini-fridge and right be the slider to balcony. Because it gets hidden behind the curtains, on several occasions my spouse and I had hit our heads on the corner of the TV, since it wasn't pushed "all-the-way" back into the corner. Be warned! Overall, a great and relaxing cruise. We enjoyed it a lot. The Ocean Medallion stuff was mostly irrelevant. We would gladly do this cruise again! Read Less

The reason my family and I decided upon Princess was the length of the cruise. All other lines failed to offer a 14 day cruise. We researched the ship, it was about 14 years old, it had undergone a maintenance a couple of years ago.. The ship looked very nice from the outside, The inside looked clean, the state rooms were in good shape. The only two items I found with the ship was the lower railings on the balcony. They were heavily rusted, and the fan system in the elevators did not cycle air very well and when entering a full elevator the air quality was very poor. My family and I had never cruised before, we learned much about the how cruises work, Embarkation and debarkation was an experience we can now understand better. Our flight out was set for around 6pm EST, The ship had us out of our cabins at 8am we ended up waiting for our flight for 7 hours. It would have been nice if we could have remained aboard until later in the day and then transferred to our flight. The dining experience was enjoyable, We tried all of the food options and were satisfied, We switched our scheduled dining from 3 nights at crown grill, and 3 nights at Sabatini's to 5 nights at Crown Grill and 1 night at Sabatini's. We found that the meals were more to our liking at Crown Grill. We had multiple shore excursions and the activities aboard the ship were enjoyable, The shows were good and the times shown were spaced just right so that we could eat and get to one of the shows. Service aboard the ship was always good, with one minor exception at the Salty Dog. my son ran into an unfriendly staff problem. But the staff other than this was always helpful. The shore excursions were enjoyed by all. My wife and I are older and cannot do the things that are sons are capable of,The only area that would have helped would have been to have steps going into the excursions. The helmet dive in Aruba was great. The steps lead into the activity. The Sea Lion in St. Thomas and the Sting Ray in Antigua all had ladders to go into the pool or sea. If they could add a set of steps this would make it easier for older folks to enjoy the activities. Read Less

I cruised with my wife and our two younger children aged 8 and 10. We chose this cruise because it fit perfectly with our schedule and I had not been to many of the ports. First: I can only share our own personal experience. Embarkation. This was so smooth, I was almost flabbergasted because we waited in no lines at all as we boarded the ship around noon. We had done all the pre work for the medallion which I think expedited things a bit. We were able to enjoy a nice sit down lunch onboard which was a great way to start things off. Princess Air: I do have to include a note on this. We booked the air through Princess. First, so that we were guaranteed no problems. Didn't want to miss the cruise because of flight issues. And they were having a sale. Even with the sale, prices were only close to competitive and not actually discount. Our flight from SFO to FLL on a red eye transferring through Newark was over $500 each. We were still charged for luggage which I guess is the norm now, but I would think Princess would negotiate this as anyone cruising for two weeks would have luggage. Also, our flight home had long layovers resulting in getting to SFO at around 11PM PST Pretty late when we could have been off the ship at 5AM PST (8AM local) Room was as expected. Everything worked not funny noises. Cabin P321 and basic ocean view cabin. I thnk it is ideally situated near the art, very close to the international cafe which is the only 24 food location. One note about this level 5 cabin. There is machinery that is used when tying up at port that must be right under. So there was a fairly loud sound when the lines went out at each port but it didnt last long and our kids slept through it. The cabin steward agreed to make our bed as a queen instead of twins. This is an issue bacause we had two bunks in the room and it is much harder to make them up (basically impossible unless the steward stands on the lower bed if you have it as a queen. But we didnt mind that. Steward was amazing. He was invisible like a ninja when somehow kept our room spectacular even with 4 us including two kids and all that entails. Food: I have read comments from my fellow about this cruise. I found the food to be very serviceable at least where I was. There were a few items at the buffet that were underwhelming but I would say 90% of the dishes we ordered were very tasty. I would give a word of warning though. I think they are trying to raise the culinary bar and they had much more complex and different items in the buffet. I could see non adventurous eaters being turned off by many of the selections compared to how it was in the past. We ate at crown grill which was a gift from our travel agent. Service was very good. My steak was good but not great. I had the porterhouse. I will say the server suggested the ribeye which I probably should have gone with. Sides were tasty. We had the new Planks BBQ. We enjoyed it. The Spicy Meatballs were unusual for BBQ but they gave a "free" sample before we ordered the main entree and we both decided to order it. The meal is generous with 4 meats and sides. At $12 it was a good price for something special and unique. We did not do Sabatinis. I will say, on this cruise, that place was EMPTY. I never say more than a couple of tables filled and I passed it many times during prime dining. Kids Program: There were only 31 people under 18 onboard. Three teens total and about 12 kids from 8-12. Our kids absolutely loved the kids program. For them it was perfect. At this age, with parent permission, kids can check themselves in and out of the program. Medallion: This is the second ship to have the Medallion. This was a great experience for us. It involves greatly improved internet (which we did not use) But all things were bluetooth. The cabin door knew when you were coming and unlocked automatically. You could find out the location of your cabin mates (read kiddos) at any point. You could access the app with your phone and see schedules and your onboard account info. Disembarkation. This was as smooth as embarkation. We had done the special were you pay extra to send your bags all the way to the airport direct. It was a $25 charge to do this plus whatever airline charges there would be. This was great for us. We had one large bag and I packed it to over 70lbs because they did not charge extra for overweight luggage using this method. We had a nice lounge which was never crowded were we staged as people left. We got on a nice transfer bus and were at the airport no problem Read Less

We chose this particular line again, due to the service, care, comfort, food, entertainment. The dining rooms are very elegant as well as the specialty dining rooms, which I highly recommend. After all, it is a vacation!! The entertainment is wonderful. Our traveling partners took their grandchild and they took advantage of the discovery center for kids. He loved it and insisted on going everyday, as they have great activities for the kids and teens. The ports we visited were just beautiful. Shopping was great at all of the ports. There was plenty of ports visited: Princess Cays, St Thomas, Curacao, St Kitts, Trinidad, Antigua, Aruba, Martinique and Barbados. The new Medallion is really a nice added feature. No worries with having a cruise card, you actually have nice souvenir to remember to take home. If you ever get the opportunity, please sail with Princess at once in your life. You will love it. This cruise was a surprise birthday present for me! I had been complaining about how we couldn't afford a cruise this year (we had to buy a lovely roof instead…) and my wonderful parents stepped up and made it possible! My parents are chronic cruisers who go 5-6 times a year - sometimes more (this year they’ll do 10!). They are the ones responsible for getting my family addicted as well! This cruise was selected with relaxation in mind. With three ports and four sea days, it's the perfect way to unwind and let someone else worry about making us happy - and did Princess pull through for us! With kids left behind grumbling about not going, my husband and I had our first vacation alone together in 10 years. Embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly. We had a balcony next to my parents and spent many hours reading and watching my favorite, mesmerizing reality show "Ocean Waves" on that balcony. I spent so many hours I received a nice sunburn sitting in the shade! Over all the ship was on good condition, we could definitely tell what had been refreshed and what still needed to be refreshed. The beds are sumptuously soft. The bathroom was clean, but definitely dated. Princess is trying to get up to snuff with technology. They have installed new TV's with current on-demand movies. Most of the time it worked – when it didn't, I figured out that if you rebooted the TV, it would reset and work fine. They also offer on board Wi-Fi which was spotty at best. They are still working out the kinks. While frustrating to passengers, I understand the problems with tech upgrades. Many people complained about not being able to connect to work (how very sad – work? On a vacation?). Once they get this nailed, it’ll be great to be able to message on board companions freely. The service was outstanding. Our room attendant, Allen was the happiest hard worker I've ever met. Every request was met with ninja efficiency. Every morning (and I am an early riser) his smiling face was the first I would see. His personality was infectious and utterly charming. He should be a game show host… Our wait staff was great as well. We had traditional dining where Richard and Alexander took great care of us. My parents are used to getting things “just so” and they accommodated their every whim. Our water glasses were never empty (my pet peeve) and their recommendations where never wrong. For breakfast my parents knew Michael in the main dining room from previous cruises and requested him every morning. He too took care of their “just so” requests along with his team mate Somsak. Again smiling, happy workers! Most of the bar tenders were ok. We found (and this is an important person to find on every cruise!) a great bartender, Topher, who made the best long island tea. Not too much sweet/sour or too much cola…just right. He was the first to learn our names and what we liked. We went out of our way to get our drinks from him – he tended up at the Tradewinds bar on deck 16. He also made some great suggestions on other drinks that we tried. The only “excursion” we did was to reserve the clam shell on Princess Cays. For my mom it was essential, for the rest of us, well, I spend more time in the beautiful water, bobbing like an apple. We went ashore in St Thomas and took a shuttle to Coki Beach for the best snorkeling ever (to date)! It was like floating in an aquarium. The fish are used to being fed biscuits so they are abundant. For more beauty, float around the rocks…such variety of colorful fish and coral! In St. Maartin we took a water taxi to Great Bay Beach and again did the bobbing apple routine. It was marvelous! The entertainment was pretty good too! We had the comedian Ronndell Smith on 2 nights – he is hilarious! I wished his set was longer. There was a great singer (eek! Can’t remember his name at present!). He energetically sang everything from Ray Charles to Michael Jackson. Most surprising, as I didn’t expect to enjoy it, was the production of Bravo! The show is touted as mixing opera with pop with the grace of ballroom. It delivered outstandingly. The opera pieces were easily recognizable, as were the pop selections – but the voices were amazing – stunning really. I’m getting goosebumps just remembering! It was phenomenal, beautiful and worth the price of admission anywhere. I watched The Black Panther, Thor, Ragnarok and Jumanji for Movies Under that Stars. It was nice! Attendants came around with popcorn that was better than AMC’s. Those movies would show up in on-demand the next day. The food in the main dining room was very good. I'm not picky, but my parents are and they were very happy with the food. The buffet is everything you expect a buffet to be. My husband prefers the buffet saying he likes all the different selections and he can eat whenever he wants. He always joined us for dinner and enjoyed that as well. I was very disappointed in the Salty Dog Grill. My burger was near cold as were the fries. Oh well, can’t be perfect at everything! The pizza was OK, I liked the Stromboli – it made for a small, quick, late night snack. We were treated to the Crown Grill by our travel agent. It was excellent. Husband had the filet and lobster tail (raved about it and he is a steak snob), my mom had the lamb chops (made yummy noises the whole time eating) and dad and I had perfectly cooked Chilean Sea Bass - ohhh such delicious bliss! The on board shopping seemed limited. The high-end nature of it turned me off. I’d rather have more souvenir type choices than department store selections. Do people really buy that much clothing on board? I love browsing jewelry I can’t afford though…and there was plenty of that. Overall, it was a fantastic cruise. Princess has always done an excellent job in my opinion. We hated to leave – but off to work so we can afford the next cruise…and the cruise after that! Read Less

Princess did an outstanding job on this itinerary from day 1 to day 10, it was perfect. The staff in the lounges, restaurants and housekeeping were a "10" cum-laude. Too bad I cannot say the same for the pay-outs at the gaming tables, perhaps it was my fault not knowing when to quit. LOL My compliments to Angelo the Maitre 'D and Guido your Executive Chef who ran a great service in and out of the kitchen. We started with a group of 16 but unfortunately one of the couple after three days had to abandon the cruise for a death in the family and Princess' Staff went out of their way to book their flights from Cartagena to Miami and then onto Las Vegas, provided a transfer and refunded their pre-arranged execursions. The entire staff excelled in an outstanding way and we were all very thankful for this support. Thank you Read Less

I was introduced to the cruise by a friend. The person who arranged everything has had about five cruises, and she is eager to go again. She loves cruises.Sharon was very anxious to show us the ropes. I enjoyed the shopping on the Princess Caribbean. Everyone was quite friendly and helpful. I dined at one of the restaurants on two ocassions. Embarkation and Disembarkation was a breeze. The cabin was very comfortable. The steward did a great job every day to make the stay even more enjoyable. Dining was very satisfactory.Entertainment was marvelous, of those which I attended. Movies under the stars was my favourite. The Service was commendable. I am ready to go again, since cruising gives me an opportunity to see as many places as possible. What stands out most for me though, is that I left my purse with all my valuables, including my Passport on Deck 15, and some kind hearted soul returned same to the front desk. A heartfelt thank you to all concerned, since i did not get the opportunity to so do. Read Less

Cruising in style to the Southern Caribbean is perfect because Princess does it right. Comfortable, Classy, nothing over the top - high quality with maximum enjoyment. I met many very loyal cruisers who enjoy sailing all itineraries and earned perks. All restaurants were elegant, delicious cuisine and quiet. The entertainment was wonderful! Beautiful ball gowns, Broadway show tunes, great props, and clean, funny comedians. The itinerary was great with enough time in each port of call. The New Locks of the Panama Canal are truly amazing! We watched our Caribbean Princess sail through the locks from the observation deck on our shore excursion, after she turned around in Gatun Lake. Movies under the Star with popcorn & warm blanket made the 10pm movie relaxing & fun at the end of a tour day. Morning Bible Studies & Sunday Service blessed all who attended. Thank you Princess for setting the bar for elegant mainstream cruising! Read Less

My Mom really wanted to do a Panama Canal cruise as her last big holiday. She turned 80 this past year, so I thought we should do this before her health takes a turn for the worse. She enjoyed this so much, I think she's ready to go on another. This was our first time sailing out of Port Everglades and we found embarkation was efficient with almost no standing in line. We arrived at the port about 11:20 and were on the ship shortly after 12 and cleared to go to our room. The weather wasn't great in Fort Lauderdale, but managed to mostly stay dry before boarding. After our drill and preparation for sailing, we were told that weather at Princess Cays was unsafe for tendering, so they changed the itinerary to Ocho Rios on Day 3 instead. My wife was pleased, as she was disappointed when Ocho Rios was removed from the itinerary a few months prior. However, the weather in Ocho Rios was very rainy and we got soaked. Only went to the little shop area for about 20 minutes and returned to the ship. Fortunately the weather was much better the rest of the way. Cartagena was a great place to visit. We did the Fort and Old Town tour and our tour host, "King Arthur" Arturo was very engaging, knowledgeable and clearly proud of his city and country. Unfortunately, we arrived at Las Bovedas at about 8:20am on a Sunday, so almost all shops were closed, so we didn't get to see much. Touring two of the churches was also a bit awkward as they were in the middle of services. My only real complaint about the tour was that we spent 25 minutes in a jewelry store that Arturo obviously hand-picked. Most of us just stood or sat where we could, waiting to get moving again. The Panama Canal was a great experience, and nice to be a part of a little history in being the first Princess ship, the largest cruise ship (so far) and only the second cruise ship to go through the new Agua Clara locks. We didn't do an excursion in Panama, instead staying on the ship and doing the "Escape Room." It was difficult to get into the Escape Room, but we managed to be there at the right time. This was put together by the cruise director's staff, and while not super challenging, it was not too easy, either. We enjoyed the experience and the effort put in by the staff. We also participated in the Steel Drum class put on by Dennis Smith, along with the accompanying performance. We had a lot of fun and Dennis did well with a varied level of musical talent that he had to work with. Really, these are all about having some fun and participating, so I think everyone had a good time. Costa Rica was my favourite destination. The market there was almost all authentic local stuff. We did the train tour of the banana plantation and jungle and got to see a lot you wouldn't see just in the port. It is a beautiful country and I would return. The train is a little rough because of the condition of the tracks, but I really enjoyed it. I did take a battery operated fan with me and used it a couple times when we were stopped to look at something or wait for the "Dole" train to go by the other way. Grand Cayman was my sister's favourite spot. She wanted to stay there and is contemplating how she can move there. She did the snorkeling at Stingray City and another area with a reef. She loved the warm, incredibly blue water and it made me wish I had gone along. The entertainment on board was overall pretty good. We enjoy going to the trivia games, the game shows, some live music and shows and there was no shortage of things to do. This cruise staff with Tais, Brenna, Lili, Duvall, Victoria and Micca were the best we've had to date. Tais, Brenna and Duvall were especially engaging, clearly not afraid to entertain at their own expense. I hope to see these folks on future cruises. Service was on the whole very good. A few were fantastic, a few less than fantastic, but on the whole, very good service. Our cabin steward, Joey, was perhaps a bit shy or awkward, but he got us anything we needed and served us well. The area where service really excelled was in the dining room with headwaiter Antonio. My wife has a number of food allergies that are difficult enough to accommodate at home and Antonio made sure that she had what she needed every day and went beyond by getting her a special bread every day and even desserts. Her diet has no sugar, dairy, eggs, yeast or soy, so desserts are especially difficult, but she had a special dessert every night. We were quite concerned when she was put on this diet in early December, but we were blown away at how well they did to meet her needs. The ship itself was very familiar, having cruised on it two years ago, but it's been in for upgrades since, so we were looking forward to seeing the changes. On the whole, not huge changes, except on the Lido deck with the World Fresh Marketplace replacing Horizon Court and the addition of Planks and Steamers, neither of which we tried. The Ramen bar was a nice treat, though, in Steamers at lunch time. The ship still shows it's age in a lot of places, but it still feels very much like home, having now spent 17 nights on board. I would have no hesitation sailing her again, and no doubt will. Finally, those little picky things, as a review wouldn't be complete without a few critiques. The selection process for things like the Escape Room and Steel Drum class could be done more fairly, I think. It's like the people that show up the earliest get the tickets, so if you're willing to go 30-45 minutes early, you'll likely get the tickets. The problem with that is if you say something is at 9 and you've already given the stuff away by 8:40, you get frustrated. It shouldn't be about who can get there the earliest, it should be show up at 9 and we'll do a raffle, as the lineups get mixed up and some people get offended that people "butt" in line, when they were just sitting there waiting and when the cruise staff shows up, they walk into line with the rest of their party. In the end, there is no way to make everyone happy, but I think they could do better. Another annoyance was the laundry room on Dolphin deck. Every person that tried to get a box of soap out of the dispenser couldn't, as it jammed up. You'd call customer service and they would come, "unjam" the machine, give you a box of soap, leave, then someone else would come in and the machine would be jammed. It happened to me twice and I waited 25 and 30 minutes for the person to come back and unjam the machine. Every person that came before me that day and after me while I was there had the same issue. I finally called the front desk and told them if they can't get the machine working, they should be leaving the soap out for people and sucking up the cost, which would really be very little. In future, I'm bringing my own liquid soap, as the water doesn't get hot enough to dissolve the "All" brand powder soap they use and you had white powder on your clothes afterwards. My only other "complaint" isn't really with the cruise staff, though I think they could have intervened. We were watching the movie under the stars and a group of people were sitting off to the side at the tables, talking and laughing very loudly, making it difficult to hear the movie. Is it too much to ask for a little courtesy towards your fellow cruisers? Read Less
