We had been planning with some friends of doing a New England Fall colors tour for more than a year and selected this cruise due to (1) reasonable cost and (2) itinerary and (3) prior experience with Princess. We have always enjoyed Princess for it's service, dependable food, and moderate pricing. Some highlights of our cruise: A. We were a bit startled when we received an email about a day before boarding (NYC) informing us that we would be boarding late due to a virus outbreak on the previous cruise. This left us a bit apprehensive but it turned out well because very few people got sick on our week. One major reason for this was Princess went to extraordinary lengths making sure passengers didn't touch food in the buffet area and that we all washed and sanitized our hands before eating or socializing with other passengers (I've never washed my hands so much in my life!) All in all, the results were worth it though. B. Leaving from New York City harbor at sunset is a great experience! Went close to the Statue of Liberty and a great view of Manhattan sailing away. This was partly due to great weather on most of our trip (only the last several days in Canada were a bit rainy and cool). C. The itinerary was, for the most part, great - Newport, Boston, Bar Harbor, Halifax, St. John (NB) and Quebec City were spectacular. The only stop that didn't rock our boat, so to speak, was Sydney. While the tour of Alexander Graham Bell's museum was extremely interesting, we're not sure a full day stop in Sydney was warranted. All the other stops were very good - our favorites included Newport, Boston, Bay Harbor, Halifax, and Quebec City. Princess handled all of our shore excursions and did a good job. We always feel they tend to be a bit "pricey" on excursions (compared to doing them yourselves) but they handled everything well. The ship was in good shape and the crew handled it well - we have cruised on this "class" Princess before but this was the first one that had the higher capacity (about 3,000 passengers). It seemed a bit crowded at times (especially in the buffet and the Princess Theater) but overall they handled it well. On the entertainment, the production (or what we refer to as "Broadway") shows were outstanding (Princess keeps getting better on entertainment). The other shows (cabaret singer and a cello/vocal duo) were also very good and the magician they had on board was the best we've every seen. Surprisingly, for late September/early October, we didn't see as much "color" as we would have expected until we got to Quebec. There it was very good. Overall, though it was a great cruise which we would do again. Read Less

Being a Travel Advisor, I wanted to experience the Medallion Concept. It was wonderful. So easy to get into your stateroom, by just walking up to it. Also great to keep in contact with family members. The wi-fi was wonderful. Better than any cruise we have taken before I also had this cruise on my bucket list and it did not disappoint. My favoite ports were Boston,Charlotte Town, and Quebec. It is a must to get to the Princess Theater show room in advance or else you will not get a seat. The staff was very friendly and food choices were very good. In the buffet area, they have the greatest system for egg dishes. They give you a buzzer that signals when your eggs are ready to pick up. They were always hot and cooked to perfection. Great service with choices for my friend with a gluten free diet. There was an issue before our cruise that required special sanitation, so while onboard, we were not able to use the salt and pepper shakers on our own. The staff did it for us at the table. It was alittle annoying but kept us all well. All in all it was a great cruise. Read Less

Chose this because we were traveling with friends who didn't want to fly far. LOVE the new Medallion. It makes everything so easy-opens your stateroom door, makes purchases easy, easy off and on the ship. Makes embarkation and debarkation so much faster. The updating on the CP was well do-everything seems fresh. Our cabin was larger than we expected with lots of storage but small shower. The food was a little above average although not fantastic. The Buffett breakfasts and lunches were very good-huge assortment and kept hot and cold as needed. The Crown Grill is awesome-looks just like a New York steakhouse and the food is amazing. Well worth the $29 upcharge. Sabatini's italian is also very good. The entertainment on this ship was better than almost any we have ever seen on the 15 cruises we have taken. The production show sets were absolutely incredible and the singers and dancers were great. We also had a singer, a piano player and a comic, all of whom were wonderful. Now for the not so good. Most of the ports are boring! We enjoyed Quebec very much but Saguenay was much ado about nothing, Chalottetown just OK. Loved Peggy's Cove but you're only there for an hour. Sydney is a total waste of time. Enjoyed Halifax. Our best excursion was going out on a lobster boat in Bar Harbor. We have been to Boston many times so we didn't do much there but some might enjoy it. Overall, we found this cruise little dull. Read Less

We chose this cruise from vacations to go for a last minute trip. The price was really great and the destination was northeast and Canada. Embarking was super but the room was disappointing. Not for location, but for cleanliness. The rug in the room was old, stained and dirty. We did not bring slippers because we called princess earlier and the rep said all we had to do was ask. Well that proved to be futile, I emailed Princess during the trip to complain and we finally got them day 3. Meanwhile, I had lined the floor with pool towels. Day 4 we asked for our room cleaned. The steward (who we pre tipped in cash although we did opt to pay gratuities) made up our bed in the same sheets, they were wrinkled with hair in them. The bathroom had hair, the sink wasn't cleaned and the rug had not been vacuumed. I know because we removed the pool towels prior and some cookie crumbs were on the rug. They were still there. The soap on the sink was mashed into the pre formed counter top. There were tea ring stains on the desk. etc. The ship ran out of smoked salmon day 5. Even though they were in nova scotia! The hash browns are GREASY!! There was no lactose free food in the buffet, everything except cold cuts had milk, cream, cheese and butter. No dairy free desserts except jello. Later on, while we were in the disco, an employee entered our room without permission with our privacy notice on the door to bring us chocolate strawberries that neither of us could eat. All of our personal items were out in the room, our handbags, our jewelry, my computer was up and running, they entered and violated our privacy. Princess has changed from our 2 previous cruises with them. Floor supervisor was nasty. When customer service called to ask why we were not happy. She said she was sorry we did not appreciate the gift of strawberries. They still don't get that it wasn't the strawberries we were mad at, it was the violation of privacy, oh and yes, the dirty room. Read Less

This was our 35th cruise and our first one on Princess in about ten years. We left from NY and stayed at the Brooklyn Bridge Marriott the night before embarkation. The hotel was great and everyone was friendly and helpful. My brother and his wife traveled with us on this Canada cruise. We arranged though the hotel to get a van to take us to the port about noon and boarded with a short wait. The ship looked fine and we had no issues with our balcony room. I don’t think we are as picky as some. However, the bathrooms was the smallest we have had in many years. Our room steward was quick to introduce himself and did a great job for us the entire 10 nights. We used room service a couple of times and it arrived earlier than our earliest requested time by ten minutes. We like that Celebrity calls when it is on the way. The breakfast menu was more of a continental breakfast, but the coffee was good & hot. We found the Buffett, Grill and the MDR food disappointing. I disagree with the review that said the food was like a Cracker Barrel, more like A Golden Coral buffet If your not familiar with Golden Coral they serve a lot of Buffett food but not of high quality. The speciality restaurants were pretty good especially the steakhouse. We ate at the steakhouse the first night (coupon book buy one get one free) and it was a disaster(service) but the second time was fine. The Italian restaurant was just OK. We had the drink package and were very disappointed in the wines by the glass available. The ones available were generally good like Decoy Chardonnay and Merlot. Mixed drinks were generally fine and well prepared. The bottled water for the drink package was small Kirkland bottles, yes Cosco water. No soft drinks in a can but fountain drinks only for the drink package. If your not not on the drink package you could get canned soft drinks and nicer bottled water. Pretty cheap on Princess! Entertainment was good but as other reviews noted you had to be in the theater at least 45 minutes prior to the show to get any seat. We do think Princess does better overall entertainment at lounges, main theater, etc. than most cruise lines we have been on lately. Overall service in dinning room and lounges was very good. We rarely had to wait for anytime dinning going about 6:30 or a little latter. Overall we had a good time but would probably not choose Princess for our next cruise due to food quality issue and not the being able to get a seat for the shows in the theater. Read Less

We received a Princess brochure which included Canadian Maritime Provinces and Greenland. It peaked our interest, particularly Greenland which is an unusual destination. We felt it would be an ideal place to visit before it shows up on more itineraries and gets overrun with "tourist" shops; jewelry stores and t shirt shops etc. The itinerary was 16 days, but only 6 ports, so a lot of sea days which are relaxing. We sailed on Caribbean Princess before and enjoyed the ship. Good weather and enjoyed the ports taking 2 Princess excursions in Canada (Halifax and Sydney). We opted for a Hop-on-off in St Johns which was excellent and inexpensive. Greenland tours were extremely expensive and limited so we decide to explore on our own and were pleased with that decision. Tendering at 2 Greenland ports was awful, taking over 2 hours or more. Princess did a dreadful job handling this and they have been to Greenland before so they should have planned better. Very interesting places and very glad we took the trip. Rustic. Almost like a glimpse into the past! Overall meals were very good but not great but we did opt for a few specialty restaurants and these were great. Princess buffet dining is OK for breakfast or lunch but not really as well organized as some other cruise lines. Entertainment was probably excellent however seating was far too limited because of the show times of 6:30 and 8:30pm wherein many people ate at 5pm and went to both shows. Really good music is lounges with something for everyone. Finally, this was a Medallion Class ship. Princess loves this concept but frankly it is much like the cruise card with more chances to buy drinks and gamble, and might be fun for kids. I didn't think much of it. Read Less

My family choose this cruise because it was my parents wedding anniversary and the whole family wanted to explore an area we had never been. We were all left pretty disappointed with the entire experience. Some of the destinations were better than others (good-Quebec City, Portland, Halifax....not so good-Saguenay and one was awful - Sydney, NS) but my primary criticism was largely with the ship and their inability to make the experience more kid-friendly. This ship has a recently renovated kid splash area which seemed very nice from the photos. However, on our initial tour of the ship I noticed that there were some major design flaws, principaly the splash area was all painted concrete, The area is intended for kids to move around to different stations but there is no traction at all on the concrete and the coating of paint made it especially slippery. My 3yr old and 5 yr old both slipped twice within the first 3 minutes of using it and lost interest shortly thereafter. Throughout the cruise I never saw more than 1-2 children in the area at a time and most of the time it was completely vacant. My primary criticism was with the family-friendly pools. This cruise was through an area of Canada-New England where the temperatures ranged from 55 degrees at night to 75 degrees during the day. While the pools were heated the first day, Princess absolutely refused to heat the pools following that first day and the deck attendants always had a different story as to why. Initially we were told they couldn't be heated, then we were told the adult-only pools were the only ones heated, and then that they didn't feel it was necessary. The water temperature in my estimation was almost always in the mid 60's, too cold for my 3 yr old and cold enough that my 5 yr old would only go in sparingly. In general, the pools were not used often by other guests and the temperature was a frequent complaint we had heard throughout the ship. With many of the excursions not particularly kid-friendly and the size of the room, the size you would expect on a cruise, this really inhibited our ability to entertain the kids during the day. We did utilize the kid's activity programs at night and I will commend Princess and their staff for the Discovery Camps. The staff was great and their 7-10pm evening activities were very well organized Read Less

Let me start by saying that the actual ship is very nice and we had a nice trip. PROS: The cruise directors, Andrew & Andy, were really fun. The entertainment was very good. We enjoyed the various trivia games, there was a great magician, awesome juggler, and very interesting high-tech lights\video\music act. The food was great in both formal dining room and buffet. They have great video screen at the pool that plays recent movies (that you can also view later in your cabin). There are fun "touch screens" on every floor where you can locate the people you are travelling with, see deck plans, the entertainment schedule, AND there is fun "explorer puzzle game" for the kids to play. There are 3 regular sized pools (one is private one for adults only near the spa), and one very small "kid's area pool", so there are different options. I think they make good use of the space and boat doesn't feel too large (or too small). Also, very "non pressure" from the staff. I've been on some cruises where they are always trying to sell you things, but this ship wasn't like that. Stops on our cruise were awesome. In particular I loved Quebec City, & Prince Edward Island. Halifax is nice, but a bit more of a bustling city. Sidney Nova Scotia is cute town but a "young port" so tour options (e.g. if want to go to the Alexander Graham Bell museum) are limited if you don't book ahead. You can't even really even find a taxi. - - - CONS: There are limited shore excursions and most of the good ones they sold out months before the cruise. (Not sure why they can't see the high demand and arrange for additional tours). It ended working out OK for us though because we found that for most ports you can find alternative tours outside of the port for cheaper than Princess charges. The EXCEPTION though is the port of Sydney, Nova Scotia. If you don't book something ahead won't be able to find trips on short. The "app" (where you can order drinks and see entertainment schedule seems to be a bit of a work in progress (didn't work very well for me). I could see upcoming events schedule but never could do anything else with it. There was mystery "high seas heist" ongoing game that we participated in, which was semi-fun but sloppily run and slightly confusing. There is "kids club" for area but for some reason it is closed from Noon-to-2PM so it didn't work out well for my wife and I when we wanted to do some of the things like the art auction on the boat, or trivia. Also, the staff in the area are not that friendly, and per my kids (so take with grain of salt) they had strictly regimented task for them to follow. (e.g. they couldn't just draw, read, play video games or Foosball when there was an activity like "t-shirt painting" going on. You have to do what group is doing while in kids club, at least if you are in the 7-to-11 year old section). Perhaps not the cruise line's fault but found the "exit port" in Brooklyn NY to be run horribly. A lot of confusion, and they routed people into different lines... allowed people to cut in the lines... and ultimately you could just walk out of the port if you wanted to (there was no security check or anything) so all the confusion wasn't really necessary if they were better organized. Lastly, bad ratings to our cabin (E514), mostly because it is located directly above the lounge where loud music is played most nights. Read Less

We have sailed twice with Princess , but never again, a good itinerary, on paper not matched by poor and expensive excursions, our last cruise around Japan for the summer festivals was magical , the dining was top class, the excursions pricey but well done a good cruise experience ,although with poor and limited entertainment it had an old feel to it,however we booked the Canada and New England because of the itinerary lots of ports we hadn't visited looked good on first viewing, if only it had met our expectations, we had a balcony cabin as per previous cruises, good balcony and cabin tight shower!! , The zero entertainment supplied ( as standard), wears you down the cruise became a chore after dinner, which was of very high quality but con't make up for poor/no entertainment.this and extremely expensive ship's excursions, that left you with a feeling of having been milked for cash ,for very little. our night's usually ended in the starlite lounge.in search of some nightlife. The entire cruise had a really old feel, yes it had a large quota of 60+ passengers with disabilities,I,am 55 and disabled I walk using a stick but I'm not ready for horlick's and bed ,after dinner every night,The misery was completed by booking Princess own disembarkation package this supplies transport at disembarkation consisting of a coach from Quebec port to Montreal airport, which is booked prior to embarkation, months before, the coach journey took 3 hours, for which we were pre warned the fact that wwe wer taken to the airport 10 hours before our flight is damndable ,considering we were moved off the ship at 11.00 am to start our disembarkation, to get to Montreal airport for our 11.40 pm flight (10 hours in Montreal departures)come back new, I certainly didn't after that! My spouse and I had wanted to do a New England / Canada Cruise for sometime. We were fortunate enough to have benefited from a last minute sale from Princess Cruises that allowed us to experience this wonderful itinerary. Our experience aboard the Caribbean Princess was generally very good but there are some minor issues that should be reviewed by Princess in order to improve their service onboard this ship. We booked an Oceanview Cabin that was partially obstructed but were pleasantly impressed with the size of he cabin and the storage space that was available for us during this cruise. The bathroom on the other hand was quite small that lacked storage space for toiletries and one needed the skills of a contortionist to benefit from the space provided in the shower. Our Stateroom attendant was excellent and our cabin was kept in immaculate condition. We participated in the Anytime Dinning and our overall experience was varied depending in which dinning room we were assigned for that evening. In the evening some of the Dinning Rooms were at capacity when we arrived and the Maitre D would often assign us to another Dinning Room in order for us not to have to wait for a long time for a table. This resulted in mixed results in regards to the service we were provided by the staff, Generally the service was very good but on occasion the server would get the order wrong and the wait times for service would vary from a few minutes to one one occasion twenty minutes. The quality of the food in the Dinning rooms also varied from being very good to poor, Over the years we have observed, as well as other long time Princess Passengers, that the quality of food in the Dinning Room has somewhat deteriorated although it"s still better than many other Cruise Lines. On the other hand the food in the Buffett was surprisingly very good and the selection of food was impressive. We attended two speciality restaurants onboard the ship including the Italian and the BBQ Restaurants and found the service and food to be excellent. The entertainment onboard the ship was very good. The production shows were off a very good quality although one of the production shows experienced some technical problems and it was cancelled half way through the performance. The Princess Band, performers and cast members of the production shows were of a very high calibre. Outside of the never ending Art Auction so called Enrichment Programs there was nothing in regards to guest speakers to discuss the Historical significance of the ports we were visiting. Outside of Halifax we booked our excursions through the Princess and we enjoyed all of them. Most of our excursions were of walking variety and did require a certain level of fitness. Clearly these excursions should not be booked for people with any mobility issues. The only issue regarding excursions was what occurred during this cruise was in the Port of Newport. This Port required tendering in order to get ashore and the process that took place regarding this experience can only described as a fiasco! It took up to two hours for some passengers to get ashore through the tendering process from the ship. Needless to say there were a number of unhappy passengers on that day. Overall we did enjoy this cruise and we definitely would book another cruise with Princess. Read Less

Caribbean Princess is a lovely and clean ship. Embarkation went quickly and smoothly with the new medallions. We enjoyed the shore excursions, a private beach in Roatan and Mayan Ruins in Belize City. The staff was pleasant. Our room steward and waiters in the dining room were very friendly and did a nice job. Our 2 children loved the kids club and the nightly shows in the princess theatre. However they were disappointed they could not swim because the pools were overrun with people, mostly adults drinking (even in the "family" pool). People would "claim" all the pool lounge chairs by 9:00AM by putting towels on them leaving them for hours at a time preventing others from using them. I never once saw staff removing towels from these chairs even though the policy said they would after 20 minutes of non-use. Our biggest problem was the noise in our cabin at night. Our cabin was located directly above a night club where a band played until midnight. It was so loud, we could have been inside the club! I take responsibility for not studying the ship plans better before selecting this cabin. However choices are limited for a cabin that sleeps 4. So if you are booking and have children that need sleep use caution! The biggest problem was the people in the cabin next to us. Every night they had parties n their room until 3:00AM. I have cruised before and never heard neighbors so I know rooms are sound proofed. These people were so loud, screaming, slamming doors, blasting music and even trying to open the locked adjoining door into our room. We complained to guest services on the second night when we realized it wasn't a one time thing. Their response was an apology and a security guard that came by 30 minutes later (of course, after the party had ended so they didn't believe us), and a bouquet of flowers that aggravated my allergies for the rest of the week! Good, but not stellar for our first large ship cruise. While we were impressed with friendliness of the staff, general professionalism it had shortcomings in terms of a party boat and lacking the expected amenities and relaxing ambience for adults. Also a number of experienced cruisers commented that this did not rank highly in the Princess ship lineup or comparing to some of the other lines. But we now have a baseline for future comparison. The pool seen was generally way too crowded that generated into a party atmosphere some evenings. Lounge chairs were occasionally hard to find especially in a shady area as baking in the sun was not possible. Food service and quality was sometimes inconsistent in quality, although the presentations were very nice and attractive. The ships organization of activities overlapped not giving the opportunity to attend more than one. The desk services was sometime undermanned causing queues where we did not want to wait. Read Less

We were a family of nine and we chose this cruise because it fit into everyone's schedule. Next time we will not leave from Ft. Lauderdale. More than half the guests were seniors which meant that there weren't many things for children to do on board. The food was okay. I liked the food better on our first Royal Caribbean cruise. There weren't many dairy free dessert options. The staff, however, were pretty cool. I had a pretty nasty indecent with a sales associate in the Effy jewelry store on the ship and it wasn't addressed by management. Outside of that incident the staff on the Caribbean Princess were pretty good. The pizza spot, Slice, makes incredibly delicious pizza. The coffee shop/ice cream bar was good at delivering cones but it seemed like everyone assigned to the coffee bar was figuring it out. The ship seemed dated but clean. It was only my second cruise so perhaps all ships look dated. There was a sewage smell that we smelled often that was off putting nut I guess that is the price you pay on a ship. I probably won't cruise on Princess for a very long time because fo the racist incident I experienced and since there are other options but it was an experience. Read Less

We spent 3 nights in Fort Lauderdale at a beach hotel prior to the cruise, and on the morning of departure we took a quick taxi to Port Everglades. The terminal was very busy but the lineups moved quickly and check in was fast and efficient. Our room was ready when we boarded the ship around 1:00 PM. The Caribbean Princess has been modernized, and we noticed the newer rugs, new pictures in our stateroom, and newer look to the ship in general. There is a new splash pad zone on the upper deck for kids, with several lounge chairs (some with clamshell type covers) nearby. We went ashore in Princess Cays, Bahamas, which is a busy beach with lots of room to spread out. We booked a cabana for the day, and it was nice to have a spot to regroup, cool down, or just take a break either indoor with the ac or outside on the shaded lounge chairs. We also went ashore in St. Thomas and took a bus tour & beach break. In St. Maarten we took a similar tour but spent more time on a beach with an included lunch. The weather cooperated the entire week and it was sunny and hot each and every day. Overall, we enjoyed our cruise very much. Our room steward did a good job, the wait staff in the restaurant (Club Class Dining) were very attentive, the front desk and shop staff were also very friendly and helpful. The ship is easy to navigate, and we found using the aft elevators very handy because they were less busy as compared to the midship elevators. The pool areas were a bit crowded on sea days but there was often a few chairs available in which to sit. We didn’t eat in the Marketplace cafeteria more than a few times; the sit down dining rooms provided a table, wait service, and less of a rush so it was more relaxing for us to eat in those venues when we could. For breakfast we generally ordered room service - one of our favourite ways to start the day! Our room was well laid out and spacious, with two windows & close to the water with very little noise or movement from the ship. The location couldn’t be beat: close to the Piazza, front desk, shops, and Coral Dining Room. Overall, a great week on the Caribbean Princess! Read Less

We overall enjoyed our cruise to the Eastern Caribbean. Our two interior cabins were clean and well kept. (It would have been nice for Princess to choose a floorplan that sacrificed a bit of closet space in order to expand the size of the shower, though. At 6'1", my "wingspan" in the shower was much more important than having six superfluous feet of closet space in which to hang a handful of dressy clothes.) The food was amazing and we very much enjoyed the shows and activities offered on the ship. Our excursions were top notch. Our girls spent most of their onboard time in the teen room, and had a blast with the planned activities. However, we had major problems with the Medallion system from the moment of embarkation. For some reason, my daughters and I were issued Medallions, but my husband was issued a key card. I still have no idea why ... I did nothing unusual with his booking process. We were told at embarkation that his Medallion would be ready by dinnertime. At dinnertime, no Medallion. Then we were told that it would be ready first thing in the morning. In the morning, no Medallion. We grew increasingly frustrated as we fell into a pattern of checking in at the service desk every 6-8 hours to be repeatedly told that his Medallion was still being processed. At one point, he asked what would happen if one of our girls lost her Medallion; he was told that a new one would be issued immediately. When he asked why such service couldn't be granted for him, we discovered that the key-card and Medallion databases were entirely separate entities, and he would have to be "created" as a new passenger in order to receive a Medallion. This finally did occur; he received his Medallion ... halfway through the cruise. Once his Medallion was activated, both he and our older daughter were able to track all of us, but my younger daughter and I could not track him. Ever. In addition, for a period of 36 hours, our younger daughter's Medallion dropped off the system and she was un-trackable as she moved about the ship. She was unable to do anything without being accompanied by her sister, with a properly working Medallion, as that was the only way we could ensure that we were able to keep tabs on where she was. When we raised this issue at the service desk, the clerk logged in to his iPad and showed us where she was at that moment. "See? She's perfectly safe!" he told us. We walked him over to the nearest public kiosk and showed him that his information was useless to us, as we couldn't see it ourselves. We felt like we weren't being heard. Not being able to verify her safety was only part of the problem; the larger issue was a faulty tracking system, completely out of our control. I had a scary moment, once both girls' Medallions were back online, when I went to track them and discovered that they were on different floors. The younger one was on a floor which contained only private cabins. She had no business being on such a floor. I raced down to her tracking location to discover that she wasn't there. I climbed six flights of stairs in a panic to find my older daughter in the teen room and ask where her sister was; I found both of them sitting together. I walked to the closest kiosk and logged in; my younger girl, sitting 15 feet away from me, was still registering as being on a cabin-only floor six levels below. Her Medallion location only reset when she logged herself into the kiosk. The Medallion system definitely gives great benefits ... when it works. Obviously the system has a lot of kinks to be worked out. Read Less

It was a last minute vacation for my husband and I and our 5 kids (13,14,17,19 &20 yrs) The staff was great, friendly, helpful and fun! Loved the medallion and it’s apps! Very innovative and helpful if you aren’t regular cruisers. The only thing I wished is that I’d be able to track the kids under 18 in the other 2 state rooms since we had 3 rooms. But because of their age the app wouldn’t allow me to track them but we all have iPhones so we just texted. WiFi plan purchased workers really well, especially being in the middle of the ocean. Food was tasty and lots of options for the picky or for adventurous taste buds. Didn’t eat 1 thing I didn’t like. Plenty of areas to sit and relax, didn’t feel over crowded in any areas (obviously many people at pools on hot days, but there are multiple pools so it didn’t seem to bother anyone and didn’t seem over crowded). There’s about 4-5 smoking areas. Rooms were stayed on top of, very clean, service was great. The staff remembered your orders or likes almost immediately. Made for a very personal feeling. Entertainment was funny and there was always something going on somewhere. Princess cruises has it down pat all the way around. Looking into sailing with them again next summer. Embarking and disembarking was soooo quick and easy too! Read Less

A simply amazing time being a Suite guest for a week. The western Caribbean itenerary was amazing. The service in the Suite class made all the difference for us. The room size and the service from our steward made us feel special everyday. The ability to have daily laundry and dry service was worth it for us. The extra effort by all the staff to make our cruise special was accomplished. The specialty dining and the "class" dining was amazing. Waiter "Oxana" created the best presentations night after night for our table. We will use Princess for our Alaska trip in July 2020. The "Boss excursion in Roatan was an adventure. The trip across the island was a real eye opener for us to see bars and barbed wire on every house and building. The excursion under the water on the scooter was an adventure that could be "Bucket List" quality. We found that the service from the staff was on point everyday. The casino was clean and inviting to the passing guest. The suite is the way to travel on this cruise line. The special attention by the staff is highlighted by the Medallion that is your access point. The staff automatically knows what guest you are and what status you have for that cruise. We are sold on the medallion program as a cruise enhancement. It is nice to have the staff know who you are and what you like simply by seeing the medallion readout on their computers. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it fit our schedule and we love Princess. The boat is large and clean, the staff is helpful and very courteous, and we see old friends. Princess always takes care of us and we never worry about going to a port where we might have a problem. We love the entertainment. Matt Barnard the cruise director was absolutely OUTSTANDING! One of his staff, Armando-an old friend of ours, was training to become a cruise director. He deserves it because he is so friendly and makes one feel so welcomed. The food was always great. The lunch in the back of the boat was always great. The fajita meat was so tender and juicy that I ate it for lunch everyday that we were on the boat at lunch time. Cozumel was wonderful and we ran into a tour guide friend that we had been with before. A really nice young man. Belize was great. It was just so wonderful, I wish we could leave right now for the same cruise. Princess does respond to your concerns. Please remember that not all sales personnel are good at their jobs. Ms. Kimberley from South Africa was so damned efficient and so helpful, we were floored. We handed in three cards praising her. We have never handed than many praise cards in before. Ms. Julia (Brazil) got two from us and my goodness was she ever effective! We also praised her in the after action report. This was such a great cruise. Our cabin steward was a little slow but we found out that he had more cabins to clean than other stewards. Getting on and off the ship was smooth and safe. Princess is great with security. Read Less

I was told that Princess was on par with Celebrity which Ive been on Equinox twice, and traveling with friends, this seemed to work out best for their needs with 2 teenages. I will say, when we arrived at port, this was the quickest we ever boarded, and I thought this was going to be a great cruise... boy was I wrong! Our cabin was warm at best, with the thermostat as low as it could go. Our friends had one cabin down the corridor and you could feel the temperature drop 10 degrees half way to their cabin. Their cabin was nice and comfortable unlike ours. I shut the drapes and kept the balcony door closed to try to cool things down but to no avail. My friends aaid to say something. So we went to the customer service desk where they ssid they would check it out. The room steward kept asking if they came but I I never saw anyone or get any reply or notification. I called front desk to see if I could get some Ice as the refrigerator was warm. I was told it was more of a bottle chiller and not a fridge. I asked for Ice and they said to call the room steward, his number is on the desk. I told them it wasn't but he insisted it was. I told him the room steward said he was going to bring the card later when I had asked for ice, but neither had arrived. The front desk reluctantly stated they would send up some ice as I had medication to keep cold. Half an hour later still nothing, so I went to get some ice. The room steward sees me with the ice bucket and comes to grab it from me and says he will get it for me. Next day still hot, complained again, was told they came to room at it was within operational parameters. Thats when If I didn't know Princess was owned by Carninval, I would have known with that useless generic answer. But it gets better. I complain again, switch my cabin, my friends have air and I need some, the heat can trigger some bad headaches, but they have no other cabins. The person at the desk says she will try to find a fan! It made it only slightly less unbearable. Princess Cay. They turn off the water at 2pm and if you want to prevent heat stroke or dehydration, buy a bottle at the bar! Unbelievable! Back on board. We have not been able to enjoy the view or balcony as we are living in a cave. Drapes closed. Afraid to open the door to the balcony and let the heat in. Went and complained again, this time I asked what do I need to do to get off the ship in St Thomas and fly home and get a full refund! The man at customer service says He doesn't know but will find out. Next day I have hotel manager, the customer service manager who found us a fan, an officer from engineering I think and the guy from maintenance all in our cabin, suddenly they are able to drop the thermostat a couple of degrees! Meanwhile, it must be 90 in the elevators, it felt like 95 in the lobby to the elevators, and it was so humid in the elevator I asked another passenger if he was enjoying the portable sauna. Later in the cruise, the art show auctioneer said they have been working on the ac all week and it was the first time he held an auction in a sauna, yet everyone says the ac is working properly. It was getting hot all over the place. Took 4 days to find a server at dinner that served appropriately! Women first, then the teenagers, then the men. Went to specialty restaurant for more upscale dining, service lousy, no tablecloth, served men first, women last, never checked on things, when he said eggplant when placing a dish in front of my highly allergic wife, we all said wait, she's allergic to eggplant, and he says i never said eggplant, yet 4 people heard him say it as clear as day, and not once did he ask how everything was or if we would like more bread, and when the desert was suppose to have a frozen center yet 4 out of 6 of the deserts had a warm melted mess inside. It was just horrible. Thankfully we reserved the section with the waiter we found for the restbof the cruise except the last night when they refused to take the reservation. The other servers and the rest of the staff all seemed like we were interrupting them, bothering them, or when they asked if we wanted anything, it was as if they were angry when we said yes! There were very few examples of good service, the ice cream was ice milk and horrible, the ice cream in the dining room tasted like they took the ice milk from up too, mixed in some flavoring, then refroze it. Don't ask about the shows, as we never got to see one. It was probably because the kitchen was so slow to send out food that it was a good two and a half hours for us to have dinner. One day it was full and too hot to stand, the next show had the doors closed and a sign said full, the one day we got in early and made it to the theater, they had the doors closed and they said they had some technical difficulties but were doing a sound check and would let us in shortly. Well we stood for half an hour, then they let us in, then we sat for another 20 minutes before the lights went down and the cruise director comes out and says they had some technical difficulties with the stage, blamed it on the waves yet it was the smoothest sailing Ive ever been on, and says that the technical staff has been working on it but said there was no way to fix it and due to safety, they were replacing it with a last minute replacement by one of their performers and brings out the lounge singer to do a tribute to Stevie Wonder... banging on the keys something awful, it was horrendous. It would have been proper to inform us of the switch before we waited almost an hour for something put together in 45 minutes. We went to see the drag Queen show in the nightclub, those are usually funny and raunchy and a good time, this was just bad. He went to do a quick change and was on the second verse singing off to the side and struggling to get changed even with help. I asked slmebody which pool was open, he said none, eventually I found the one that was open. The entire cruise director staff seemed unorganized and even rude at times. The cruise director wasnt even sociable, it seemed like nobody really could care less. That waitor we found was surprised and in disbelief when we told him he was the only decent service we found on the ship, he almost cried. The food was jot very good everywhere we went, pizza was wait and get so so pizza, took forever to get items replaced when they ran out in the buffet, the hot stuff was cold, the cold stuff was luke warm, and the couldnt even cook the eggs correctly, and the guy running the omlets was too busy foing too many things and talking to coworkers to do things properly, took my pager and then went on to fo other things while I stood waiting, then wanted to know why I was standing there, and then When I said he needed my food, and gabe him the number from the pager, he handed it to me like I was a bother, yet he just forgot to give it to me, but he also couldnt be bothered to apologize at all. And if you do not cash out your bank at the casino, it doesnt go back on your account, you would lose it, so make sure you cash out your casino bank. After 11pm, nothing available except a small cafe with limited pre-made items and coffee for a fee, no activities except the nightclub. Tried to go to the stargazing, sorry, we dont have enough equipment, maybe next time. Next time not in a heated dungeon with horrible staff from the dark ages... people on the ship who have taken Princess before have said it was not like this before, but I dont think I will ever do another Princess cruise again. I guess taking my money to keep the princess in her jewels is all they do! I cant see why anyone would take a Princess cruise based on this experience. Read Less

The shore excursions were great, we bought them at the port cause the price was pretty darn good. My husband and I decided to do a Caribbean cruise for our anniversary, and my son’s high school graduation. I was a little weary about sailing on a Princess Cruise because it seems to cater to an older crowd, and we had an 18 yr old, 16, and 11 yr old with us. Half the passengers were senior citizens, and the rest were families. All of my kids made friends on board and had a great time. The food was great, the weather was perfect, the islands were beautiful, the crew went out of there way to cater to everyone. There were plenty of lounge chairs, and rarely any lines. The newlywed game and Voice of the Ocean was great. The medallion system and WiFi was exceptional. Movies on deck were great. My kids can’t wait to do another cruise. I like that the atmosphere is low key, and laid back. A slide or two for the kids would be nice, but I would definitely Cruise Princess again. Princess Cays, St. Maarten (Maho beach) St. Thomas (excursion to Trunk Bay St. John’s USVI) Perfect. Getting on and off the ship was well organized too. Read Less

I had heard that the food and service were great The dining room staff was outstanding. Our waiter was Carlos and the Dining Room Captain was Frederick. My nine year old granddaughter asked for strawberry soup and Frederick had it delivered every single night within 5 minutes of being seated even though it was not on the menu. Carlos treated the 2 girls (9 and 6) as princesses. He would bring a chopped fruit cup immediately for the baby. Loved the trip so much I am going again next year and will request both Frederick and Carlos again. Carlos has been on this ship for 14 years. He danced the Macarena with the girls one night. Loved the beaches at all 3 stops in Eastern caribbean. Perfect weather and seas as flat as glass. Port locations in the perfect location from where the ship docked. Medallion class worked perfectly. Boarded the ship within 5 minutes at ll:30 a.m. Virtually walked right on. Read Less

We just finished sailing on the Caribbean Princess and were pleasantly surprised! We have cruised on Disney and RCC previously and we decided to give Princess a try. This was a family vacation with my side and there was 11 of us traveling all together. My parents are platinum members with Princess and with the dates we had and the price point of summer cruising we chose Princess. Unfortunately, DCL has just priced themselves out for us for summer cruising. Caribbean Princess is an older boat, so keep that in mind. There were only 2 usable outlets in our room (B233 & B237) and they were next to each other, so technically I could only use one at a time. There was no outlet for my flat iron in the bathroom and the hair dryer was in the bedroom. It was an odd layout. I wish there was a usb or outlet next to the bed. The A/C was not as cold as we would like. Now we like to be cold and I would wake up in the middle of the night sweating! We read that if we took the diffuser (the cover) to the air return it would help, and it did. We also had the Ocean Medallion on this cruise (it reminds me of the Disney magic bands). They gave us a lanyard on checking in, but we purchased the wristbands the first day. Highly recommend for kids, but I purchased them as well. It made it so much easier to keep track and the lanyard can get sweaty and hard to keep up with on sea days. It was a bit confusing and hard to get connected to the Ocean Compass app (the app where you could locate others in your party and do onboard texting - no charge). It took us having to go to the internet cafe to get help from the IT personnel. Now my DH, Brother and dad are all in the IT, computer industry and we consider ourselves tech savvy. Apparently, the software/app that Princess uses is not apple friendly and they make it very difficult to use and setup. Princess knows this is a problem and I was told they are working to fix it. There were times I could not find my DH or my SIL while on board. It was nice to be able to text each other without having to pay for the internet/wifi. The one complaint I had was when we had to take a tender to and from Belize City. We boarded a large catamaran to get back on the cruise boat and from the time we hooked up to the cruise boat and the time I got off, it took an hour! That was ridiculous. They only had one line for security and I couldn't believe how slow it was going. It was a bit frustrating, and I felt bad for all the people who had the first seating for dining. And it was a formal night! We had a great cruise! Our stops were Cozumel, Roatan, Belize City and Grand Cayman. We really enjoyed the stops and excursions we took (we did not do Princess excursions). We picked this cruise soley on its dates. Disney will also be my number once choice for cruising, but they are getting to be so expensive that if I want to cruise I just need to look elsewhere. Its hard to compare a Disney cruise with any other cruise line, because they know how to do the shows and kids club like no other! Princess had a great service and overall provided a great experience. 2017 we cruised on Oasis of the Seas with RCL and it was just too many people and too big for me. My kids preferred their "extra stuff" on RCL more, but they will enjoyed their time on Princess. I also appreciated that they didn't try to upsell me on anything during my cruise. On RCL, there was always someone walking around the buffet and ship trying to sell me something or anything, and I did not appreciate that. This cruise did none of that. In fact, I had to ask someone how much the photo package was. No one was walking around trying to constantly sell me something and I really appreciated it. Overall, I would sail Princess again and try out one of its other ships. Read Less
