We have cruised with princess for the past 10 years. They are absolutely consistent with 4 star service. They are constantly upgrading and hands down they have the best entertainment from the big Vegas Style production shows to the single magic and comedy acts. The cabin rooms are white glove clean and anything we ask for, is delivered promptly to our room. The only shortcoming is some ships dining menus are not like they used to be. This particular cruise did not have an exciting menu but that's the executive chef. My specific bèef is that they dont have my favorite " Rice Pudding" Anyone who asks, we give Our last cruise was amid the corona virus and the measures the ship staff went to was over and above all expectations. We couldn't have had better care from our mothers at home ! We would gladly go back right now even when the corona virus is escalating across the globe. This pandemic was not created by cruise ships. Being on a ship in tgemiddle of an ocean is the safest place on earth. A ship is floating quarantine. Planes are moving virus carriers around the globe. Princess scores 12 out of 10. Read Less

We were looking forward to this cruise due to the itinerary. One of the ports of call was Trinidad which was where my father was born so there was a personal connection. WE were disappointed that this 14 day cruse was reduced to 11 days due to a virus that infected many of the passengers on the ship. We were disappointed in the need to return to port early (and only were able to visit 3 of the 8 ports on the itinerary) but we completely understand the need to do this. We had wonderful weather - so as they say - when you get lemons make lemonade!!! Having said that this was our second Princess cruise within the last 6 months (sailed Alaska on the Coral Princess in September 2019) and we were again underwhelmed. We have one more Princess cruise booked for April 2021 - Transatlantic on the new Enchanted Princess and unless there is a big turn around this will be our last Princess cruise. The embarkation and disembarkation process is all a science now so there are no issues there. Very efficient and well managed. We were in a balcony cabin (A308) which was your typical balcony room. Bed was comfortable and love having access to the outside. There was an overhang which is always good to protect from sun (if needed) or rain. A cabin steward had little personality and as the cruise went on, when we did see him, he always appeared impatient that were were in our room. It seemed as though we had to work around his schedule. We had a late seating with a table of 8. Plan on at least two hours as service was slow. It appears as though Princess has cut back on dining room staff. Every night one of our servers would pour one of the table guests wine and then we would have to either ask for our or get up and get our bottle and pour it ourselves. We often had to wait long periods of time to receive our food and several times the orders were confused. Some of the main meals were very good but on average we were disappointed with the overall selection. We heard form a couple fo table guests that went to the buffet rather than the main dining room that there was a better selection and certainly much quicker at the buffet. Since dining is a big part of our cruise experience we are disappointed in the lower quality of food and service that we have received on our last two Princess cruises. Medallion is the new option for Princess. It has great potential. Again we experienced the reduction in staff when we were wanting a drink around the pool. we couldn't find out steward to take our order so we had to go get them ourselves or order through the app. Ordering through the app expect up to 10 - 15 minute wait. One word of advice however, if you order try not to change your location. One of our cruise partners ordered a drink and then decided to go for a walk. The poor server had to chase her around the ship!!! LOL In this day and age I still can't believe that Princess allows smoking in the Casino. There is a designated smoking are on the ship but it is a free for all in the Casino. Decidedly unhealthy regardless of the venting they have. Even though the ship had undergone a refurbishing in May 2019 the ship looks tired. Read Less

A simply amazing time being a Suite guest for a week. The western Caribbean itenerary was amazing. The service in the Suite class made all the difference for us. The room size and the service from our steward made us feel special everyday. The ability to have daily laundry and dry service was worth it for us. The extra effort by all the staff to make our cruise special was accomplished. The specialty dining and the "class" dining was amazing. Waiter "Oxana" created the best presentations night after night for our table. We will use Princess for our Alaska trip in July 2020. The "Boss excursion in Roatan was an adventure. The trip across the island was a real eye opener for us to see bars and barbed wire on every house and building. The excursion under the water on the scooter was an adventure that could be "Bucket List" quality. We found that the service from the staff was on point everyday. The casino was clean and inviting to the passing guest. The suite is the way to travel on this cruise line. The special attention by the staff is highlighted by the Medallion that is your access point. The staff automatically knows what guest you are and what status you have for that cruise. We are sold on the medallion program as a cruise enhancement. It is nice to have the staff know who you are and what you like simply by seeing the medallion readout on their computers. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it fit our schedule and we love Princess. The boat is large and clean, the staff is helpful and very courteous, and we see old friends. Princess always takes care of us and we never worry about going to a port where we might have a problem. We love the entertainment. Matt Barnard the cruise director was absolutely OUTSTANDING! One of his staff, Armando-an old friend of ours, was training to become a cruise director. He deserves it because he is so friendly and makes one feel so welcomed. The food was always great. The lunch in the back of the boat was always great. The fajita meat was so tender and juicy that I ate it for lunch everyday that we were on the boat at lunch time. Cozumel was wonderful and we ran into a tour guide friend that we had been with before. A really nice young man. Belize was great. It was just so wonderful, I wish we could leave right now for the same cruise. Princess does respond to your concerns. Please remember that not all sales personnel are good at their jobs. Ms. Kimberley from South Africa was so damned efficient and so helpful, we were floored. We handed in three cards praising her. We have never handed than many praise cards in before. Ms. Julia (Brazil) got two from us and my goodness was she ever effective! We also praised her in the after action report. This was such a great cruise. Our cabin steward was a little slow but we found out that he had more cabins to clean than other stewards. Getting on and off the ship was smooth and safe. Princess is great with security. Read Less

We just finished sailing on the Caribbean Princess and were pleasantly surprised! We have cruised on Disney and RCC previously and we decided to give Princess a try. This was a family vacation with my side and there was 11 of us traveling all together. My parents are platinum members with Princess and with the dates we had and the price point of summer cruising we chose Princess. Unfortunately, DCL has just priced themselves out for us for summer cruising. Caribbean Princess is an older boat, so keep that in mind. There were only 2 usable outlets in our room (B233 & B237) and they were next to each other, so technically I could only use one at a time. There was no outlet for my flat iron in the bathroom and the hair dryer was in the bedroom. It was an odd layout. I wish there was a usb or outlet next to the bed. The A/C was not as cold as we would like. Now we like to be cold and I would wake up in the middle of the night sweating! We read that if we took the diffuser (the cover) to the air return it would help, and it did. We also had the Ocean Medallion on this cruise (it reminds me of the Disney magic bands). They gave us a lanyard on checking in, but we purchased the wristbands the first day. Highly recommend for kids, but I purchased them as well. It made it so much easier to keep track and the lanyard can get sweaty and hard to keep up with on sea days. It was a bit confusing and hard to get connected to the Ocean Compass app (the app where you could locate others in your party and do onboard texting - no charge). It took us having to go to the internet cafe to get help from the IT personnel. Now my DH, Brother and dad are all in the IT, computer industry and we consider ourselves tech savvy. Apparently, the software/app that Princess uses is not apple friendly and they make it very difficult to use and setup. Princess knows this is a problem and I was told they are working to fix it. There were times I could not find my DH or my SIL while on board. It was nice to be able to text each other without having to pay for the internet/wifi. The one complaint I had was when we had to take a tender to and from Belize City. We boarded a large catamaran to get back on the cruise boat and from the time we hooked up to the cruise boat and the time I got off, it took an hour! That was ridiculous. They only had one line for security and I couldn't believe how slow it was going. It was a bit frustrating, and I felt bad for all the people who had the first seating for dining. And it was a formal night! We had a great cruise! Our stops were Cozumel, Roatan, Belize City and Grand Cayman. We really enjoyed the stops and excursions we took (we did not do Princess excursions). We picked this cruise soley on its dates. Disney will also be my number once choice for cruising, but they are getting to be so expensive that if I want to cruise I just need to look elsewhere. Its hard to compare a Disney cruise with any other cruise line, because they know how to do the shows and kids club like no other! Princess had a great service and overall provided a great experience. 2017 we cruised on Oasis of the Seas with RCL and it was just too many people and too big for me. My kids preferred their "extra stuff" on RCL more, but they will enjoyed their time on Princess. I also appreciated that they didn't try to upsell me on anything during my cruise. On RCL, there was always someone walking around the buffet and ship trying to sell me something or anything, and I did not appreciate that. This cruise did none of that. In fact, I had to ask someone how much the photo package was. No one was walking around trying to constantly sell me something and I really appreciated it. Overall, I would sail Princess again and try out one of its other ships. Read Less

Got a good deal on a cruise for my wife, daughters and their respective beaus' so we decided to take a family vacation from the Pacific Northwest to the Hot Caribbean, and hot it was. The ship was very clean and well kept up and the staff was exceptionally pleasant throughout. Matt the cruise director and his first mate Andy were great and very entertaining and kept us in stiches the whole time we were on board. Our room steward was never far from sight and the room was always impeccable. Food was good but it has digressed form the Princess of 15 years ago but I guess that is true of a lot of things as the accountants take over. Overall the cruise was great and we all had a wonderful time and the Caribbean Princess is a well run well kept ship. We would cruise again on her without hesitation. Read Less

Princess is a class act. It was my first Princess Cruise. I’ll start with the bad. I found roaches in my cabin. Reported it when I found them at midnight. I was able to kill one so I had it as proof. They moved us to another cabin. This cabin was very dirty, had tv not working and ac not working. Technician came, tv was fixed, ac was fixed at 2:00am. 5:00 am it was blowing heat at us full force. Called the front again. Was told basically sorry, there’s nothing we can do. This was not ok. We disembarked into Cozumel. Had a great day even with only getting about 2.5 hours of sleep. When we got back, the Passenger Services Director summoned me and said they knew they’d have other cabins available that day and gave us one. I wish I had known that in the morning. I wouldn’t have been angry. She said the staff I spoke with were unaware. They should have been aware. All of this said, Princess made this right by us. They resolved it the same day. I wish the information would have been communicated right away but I’m not going to complain about that too much. The crew on board is very good. I loved the relaxed atmosphere and no hard selling of anything on the ship. Different than others I’ve been on. It just felt like a different class. The food was very good. Can’t complain about that at all. Spa services were wonderful and we really enjoyed movies under the stars. The biggest difference I saw was the very few extremely drunk passengers compared to other lines I’ve cruised with. Overall, I loved this cruise and would cruise with Princess again. Read Less

This was my 24th cruise, 3rd on Princess, 1st on this ship. My sister went with me. It was her 1st time on Princess. I choose this cruise because it was in May and it was a short cruise, and I wanted my sister to sail on Princess. Honestly, I read every review on this ship since January and I was more than a little scared about what I had read regarding the condition of the ship. But the purpose was to spend time with my sister so off we went. We flew down the night before and stayed at The Conrad. It was great. The next morning we went to the port at 12:30. We had already received our Medallions and had registered everything prior so we basically were able to walk on the ship. We immediately went up to the Sanctuary on deck 16 to reserve space. This cruise only had 1 port day and 3 sea days. All the loungers were booked (at 12:40) but the cabanas were available Cabanas are a bit pricey, at $140 for half day, but included several things, so we decided to spurge and booked the first and last mornings sessions. Next we went down a deck and ate lunch at the buffet. We walked the entire length of the buffet areas and found everything from the food to the service to the furnishings to be top quality and just excellent. The Planks and Steamers areas décor was beautiful and brand new. Now on to our guestroom. We booked a Club Class Mini Suite, D504 on the Dolphin Deck. When we walked up to the door, the door automatically unlocked, this was great, When we got inside I was SO HAPPY. Everything in the room was BRAND NEW. The beds were new, the carpet was new, the sofa and chairs were new, the drawers and their knobs were new, the TV's were new. In the bathroom the tub was new, the toilet was new, the shower doors and head were new, the floor tiles were new. After unpacking, we explored some of the ship. Just beautiful, everywhere we went everything looked pretty much brand new except for the theater. It didn't look bad, just a bit outdated and the chairs were very small. We went to the muster drill and then I had to go to the medical center because I left some medicine at the hotel and needed to get it replaced. The Doctor and her staff were nice. The cost to see the doctor (they would not just let me get the meds) was $95 plus the cost of the insulin pen $20. I was glad they had the medicine. First night of Club Class Dining- We went early and there was no wait. Service was wonderful and food was very good. We found out from our server that this ship had just spent the last month getting engine repairs and a face lift. That explains everything being brand new. I have to say that Princess must have listened to all the reviews, and they did something about it.. Also, whatever they did to the engines, we felt NO movement on this ship. We did not even have "sea legs" when we got off the ship, which was a first for me. First night show was a comedian. He was funny. Show started at 7:30 and was 90% full. Now, to the casino. I belong to the Princess poker player's club. I recommend this to everyone, as you get special deals emailed to you once in a while. Anyway, I like to play craps and poker. No one was at the poker table, so I played craps. There were only 3 of us playing, but I had a few long rolls. There was a gentleman playing a dragon slot machine right next to us who hit for $10,000. Lucky him! Off to bed. We had breakfast in the dining room. Disappointing. The choices were extremely limited. I ordered a ham and cheese omelet, which came with no ham or cheese. The second one was not much better. I think they just want everyone to go to the lido to breakfast. Off to the Sanctuary. Our cabana was very nice. It included a sofa, chair, 2 loungers, fruit bowl, TV, bar set up, welcome drink and lunch . This area has a great view and easy access to the spa pool. My sister doesn't drink, and I had the alcohol beverage package, so the bar set up was wasted on us, so they gave us a bottle of wine instead. They did take our lunch order too late so we didn't get it before we left. They chased after us saying they would bring it to us to a different location, but we passed on that. I did appreciate the effort. Now to a meeting. Before the cruise I had received an email and an opportunity to participate in a focus group on the ship. I got selected and went to this meeting located in a dining room. About 120 people, we were divided based on the survey we filled out. I was put in the celebrations group (my sister's birthday). The moderator was very good, asking several questions on lots of subjects. We were all able to express the good, the bad, and suggestions. My suggestion was to have some alcohol packages that were per day or a drink card with a certain number of drinks, instead of the whole cruise only package which is way too expensive for people who only want a couple drinks a day. And now the bad news. Starting the night before, I had been coughing and feeling just ok. Now, after this meeting, I met my sister and we had the pizza. It was voted best pizza at sea, and it is the best pizza I have ever had on a cruise. And then I started feeling worse and worse and worse. Bottom line, I went back to the medical clinic. I had a bad sinus infection. The doctor gave me a z pack and Benadryl. I hardly was able to leave my stateroom after that. I only left to get something to eat. We had reservations at the steakhouse that night. We went and it was good, but then I went back to the room. I was coughing so much and so loud that I didn't want to ruin a show and didn't even feel well enough to gamble, which is really saying something. My sister and I had been looking forward to this cruise for months. We don't get to spend much time together and this was going to be extra special being her birthday. We didn't get to see any other shows or even visit some of the nightclubs. My sister stayed with me and read on her ipad. We did not use our cabana on the last sea day, but some one came to our cabin and told us they would not charge us. That was very nice. My sister and I did get to talk and be with each other, which was what we wanted from this cruise. So even with missing out on most of the activities on this now brand new beautiful ship, we both had a great cruise. I would highly recommend this ship. Read Less

Itinerary was one of the main reasons to go on the Caribbean Prince. We have already cruised on this ship and loved it. We were celebrating a few things. My wife's Birthday, my 70th Birthday, and our 25th Weddings Anniversary. First time getting a larger suite, mainly for the size of the room and balcony. Was a little disappointed in the suite, because of the noise, no sun, sleeper sofa, and closet door making so much noise. Also my wife got her finger slammed in the door. Loved San Juan going to the Bacardi Rum distillery was the best your ever. Wish we had more time there to see more of New San Juan. The staff and service was great. Loved going to the Club Class restaurant every night. Everyone was so polite and helpful, all the way from the wait staff to the head chef. So happy with the new Medallion set up. The value for this Cruise was good. Read Less

To get out of cold weather and enjoy the sun and warmth of the Caribbean. This cruise was on a ship with the implementation of the latest Princess marketing project. The Mediallion. The implementation was very weak, and the only real benefit was the excellent internet service. Although to receive the full benefit you must purchase the service with unlimited time. Then it will be like using your wireless network at home. The time required to embark and disembark the ship using the Mediallion did not save us any time. Actually it took us more time to complete the process. The cruise card was quicker. If fact you have to carry both the Mediallion and the cruise card, as food and drink purchases only use the cruise card. Go figure. Additionally, we were supposed to be able to approach our stateroom door and the door would open. This never did work without touching the panel on the wall and waiting. Princess removed the small slot on the wall for paper notices to be placed. Now they are slid under your door on the floor. So watch out when you open the door and not slip and fall on the papers on the floor. We also tried to use the OceanNow app to order food or drinks. It never did work. You cannot purchase but very few of the Mediallion accessories. This is truly mind blowing, as Princess has been marketing this service for at least three years. And they cannot even get the accessories in stock. Someone is not keeping their eye on the ball when it comes to the Mediallion services and products. Don’t expect to see what you have read in the marketing materials. Some of the items on the dining menu have had their recipes changed, as Princess has hired a new chief to revise the menus. We liked the old recipes better than these new recipes. It reminds me of the New Coke vs. the Classic Coke. Why mess with something that isn’t broke. Leave it alone, or if you want to make changes, add some additional items to the menu. This would make it better. Other than these short comings, this was a very enjoyable cruise. Read Less

Good Cruise director and all 5 shows very good. Lots of things to do on-board and the entertainment was number one. We visited Club Fusion every night to dance; Skywalkers to relax, and Explorers lounge for a drink. I enjoy sailing with Princess; this was our third time and we like how they treat us. Medallion Net is the new high speed internet system. It is super fast; you can stream Netflix. The stateroom was clean and bed / pillows are very comfortable. The whole ship was very clean and service was great. Ports visited are a great experience, but did not use the ships shore excursions. It was nice to have people give us tours and take us to points of interest. On board the Caribbean Princess we took in the shows each night. What a wonderful job the cast put on. Each night a different type of show. Our vacation also gave us time at night to sit down in the Island Dining Room. The food was wonderful, and full of varieties. Everything from seafood to steak. My husband enjoyed the lobster and I enjoyed the New York Strip steak. And you couldn't forget the desserts. Made from scratch apple pie and baked Alaska. The service we received was awesome. From the port, to dining to our cabin. The cabin is cleaned twice per day, which is so nice. Our stateroom steward did a fabulous job. Our room was clean and spotless. My wife and I just returned from the 10 day Panama Canal Cruise. And I wanted to point out a few things we noticed about this cruise. First off we did have a good time, but we are very flexible travelers. One thing to keep in mind if you take this cruise is DO NOT take kids. This cruise is geared towards the 60 plus and I mean Plus age group. If you look forward to poolside parties, belly flop and limbo contests this is not going to happen. What you will find is oldies music, people playing bridge and knitting classes. there are two nice kid areas but no real activities for them. There was about 10 kids on our cruise of 3100 passengers. On the plus side there were no screaming children running around slinging half melted ice cream everywhere. The ship and crew were very nice. The room we had was an interior state room and was the largest interior room we have ever had. But I would not recommend A537 because it was next to the space where the exhaust pipes from the engine room go up to the top of the ship, so there was a constant hum in our room. (My fault for not looking at the deck plan) The stops in Jamacia, Cartegena,Panama,Costa Rica and Grand Cayman were fun and interesting. Here is our travel tip for this and many cruises. Do your research in advance. 90% of the cruise ship excurision you can do yourself and for half the price. First of all don't let the cruise line tell you that you have to take thier excursion. We have found the same activities being sold for half the price as soon as you step on the dock, and 75% less once you get away for the port area. Example princess sold the hop on hop off bus tour for$49.95. we purphased it outside the dock gate for $23.00. So research ahead of time and save a lot of money. We did take a ship excursion in the Canal zone. and had a wonderful tour guide. The only draw back to that trip was our guide had very little interest in letting us shop after a 3 hour walking tour in Panama City, and only relented to stopping after the entire bus instited we stop. Cartegena was amazing but there was not enough time to see much. Princess should really look at arranging the inteneriary to allow for more time there. Now to the biggie. THE FOOD. remember when I said earlier the the cruise was geared for the 60 plus crowd, well guess what. while the food is abundant, and more than you can ever eat, it is bland and was luke warm at best sometimes even cold. The bread was hard as a rock everyday and by day 9 the sight of the breakfast buffet made us ill. The best food on the boat was Planks,Sabatinis, and the Crown Grill, but all of these cost extra. Planks was flavorful and a alot of food. Crown was good. My Porter House steak was very fatty but good (Im a steak Snob) all in all for the price it was ok. I know this may have been long winded but I just wanted to share our experience and hope it helps others. If your looking for a laid back cruise this may be your ticket. If you need a wilder time, it might not be your cruise. The ship, the crew, and the Ports where great. The cruise vibe was a litlle to slow for us. and in the words of Mark Twain Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, hatered and narrow mindedness. Read Less

The itinerary was what attracted us to this cruise. We were able to visit the ports of St. Kitts, Martinique, Barbados, Trinidad, Curacao and Aruba along with repeats in St. Thomas and Antigua. Great ports to visit. Our balcony on the Caribbean Princess was the smallest we have ever experienced. Before choosing a forward cabin consider they are smaller than those a mid ship. The excursions for the most part were good. But if you ever go to St. Kitts for the Cruise the Sea and Rail ride you have to wear boat shoes. They do not allow regular shoes on the boat and when you get off the boat you get into rough stone filled docking when you are in your bare feet. On Trindad we climbed to the falls and as advertised you must be in EXCELLENT SHAPE as it was a rigorous climb to the falls for this 72 year old. While the dining staff were extremely friendly the food in the dining room was just okay. The dinner choices were limited and some items now have an extra cost in the regular dining room. The dinner in Sabatini was excellent Italian fare, good portion size with a reasonable charge per person. The best meal we had was in the Barbecue extension of the casual dining on Deck 15, very good food at a reasonable. As for evening entertainment we did not attend as most of these shows on cruise ships are just okay. In casual conversation I never had anyone say oh you missed a great show or entertainer tonight. This was my second cruise with Princess. Both times I was on the conferences, so it was partly paid, but this one did not worse time I invested. First of, ship is very boring. Literally nothing going on aboard. If you want to get to the theater, you have to take you sit at least an hour before the show start. Their medalion program is absolute failure - my medallion stopped to open door for the last 2 days of the cruse (fortunately, my wife medallion still worked). The best medallion feature is that you can find your partner on the ship, but there is trick involved. If you used particular wall devise once, it will always show you location of your partner as you saw it the first time. Always! So, to get true actual location you have to find new previously unused device. Errors and trials took me some time to figure that out. Feature, not bug. Our ship was always late on every destination. As result we were waiting for the ship 1.5 hours in the bus returning from one excursion - only to wait for another 1.5 hours in the bus next day to go to next (both provided by the Princess). Since were were late again, excursion was postponed and due to series of miscommunication (Princess was responsible) we were waiting for hours in the bus. The best pert of the cruise suppose to be Cayman island. But we were LATE and all the boats provided by the Cayman port of authority to land were busy to serve ships which come earlier (Carnival and Royal Caribean were fast enough). Our captain did not want to use ourown boats to land, so he moves as fast as he could to the open seas directly to the North. Not only were deprived of Cayman Island experience - in 2 hours were were northern enough near Cuba with ~70 F outside temperature and cold wind, so that no one could be outside. Could we at least stay near Cayman Island where it was warm and sunny? Oh well, list of complains will be too long. Summary: very boring and mismanaged cruise, I want my money back. Read Less

we love to go away for Christmas and New Year and the dates for this worked really well. But two of the ports were not good, 1. Martinique on Christmas Day with the majority of town closed, limited taxis and not especially nice people or many things to do and 2. Trinidad where we were warned by various websites and people that it is the most dangerous of islands with the highest crime rate so don't go anywhere past the terminal unless in a large group with a certified tour - ie pay Princess! - we didn't get off the boat. I dont understand why Princess would have this on the itinery The ship has undergone a refurb but it is only the public spaces - the cabins are pretty shabby with bits hanging off and dirty carpets. However the new buffet and food areas near the pools are great. the theatre shows were excellent and we would have loved to join in more of the evening quizes and game shows however the timings of the traditional dining meant that this was impossible so quite often there was nothing to do after dinner except the casino or nightclub. we found the food to be good, and the service in the dining room and bars to be excellent the main issue, and the title of the review, was to do with our cabin. we were "upgraded" to this oceanview room but it did not feel like an upgrade. when the two beds were put together to make the double, there was not enough room to have the bedside table at one side and still walk round the bed, so i spent the holiday having to jump onto my side of the bed from the bottom! i was coping with this until the night we got rough seas. Then that discomfort paled into insignificance as we got no sleep at all from the noise of the crashing waves and the thunderous rumblings from below our rooms. This continued all night and the next day. we obviously spoke to guest services and after a lot of messing about and continued complaining we got moved into another cabin. I honestly dont know how anyone could have slept there if waters were rough. Overall we found the ship a little old in both the clientel and the rooms. Read Less

We have been Princess passengers for years and will continue to be. The best service on board any cruise...perfect. I agree with many others though, about the quality of food. It's short of what it used to be... I think there are fewer and fewer Traditional diners that they have put all their energies into the Lido self serve and new kitchen food. They have also changed the early seating for Traditional to 5...much to early for platinum and elite travelers to go to cocktail party for them nightly..Anytime dining is used by many who don't want to be smart casual or formal diners..a real shame as I love the evening meals with a regular wait staff. All in all it was a beautiful holiday cruise..Santa arriving on top of a tender with a big bag of gift for the children was the highlight, along with the group Symphone. Really talanted performers. We selected this cruise based on the dates more than anything else. We wanted to be away for Christmas and New Years and we had to work with the school schedule since we were traveling with a kid. We flew in the night before to Fort Lauderdale and stayed at the Courtyard Fort Lauderdale Beach. For a hotel to spend a night at before the cruise, it was fine. We took their cruise shuttle to the ship. Embarkation was fine. We got there around 1:30 to avoid the rush. We had done all of the "Ocean Ready" stuff and had all of the pre-registration done that we could do ahead of time. We are also Platinum. But for some reason they made us get into the general boarding line. Since the line was so short, it didn't matter. We got through quickly. The ship is almost done with the Ocean Medallion roll-out but we still got the Medallion and a cruise card. Please note that the cruise card came in a plastic sleeve attached to a lanyard with the medallion. The card was very loose in the sleeve and on several occasions it slipped out. Be warned! The CB has had a lot of upgrades on it. The new buffet was great and we enjoyed it. They also converted the old Cafe Caribe into a BBQ place, Planks, and a crab shack, Steamers. Note that you CAN sit and eat in there for breakfast and lunch without paying a cover charge. The charges only apply for dinner. Let's talk a minute about the Ocean Medallion. There are some features to talk about. First, it opens the door. Now the exact same functionality was served by the cruise card. My medallion didn't work as I approached, I had to take it out of my pocket and hold it up to the screen and then my door would open. So I found it exactly the same as a cruise card and it didn't save me any time. So no difference there. The other feature that we used was that we could go up to any of the large monitors in the hallways and track our shipmates. I found this very useful because we were traveling with our son and every now and then we needed to track him down and this worked great. This was the only feature of the Medallion that I found to be of benefit. The other feature that the "Ocean Navigators" (Princess Staff lurking around the halls who would show you how to use the Medallions) were excited to talk about was the Tagalong. So you can use the phone app or one of the large monitors on the ship to create a custom avatar and then it would appear on monitors around the ship as you walked by. Sometimes your name and face would appear. I found this creepy and weird and I couldn't figure out what the point was. A Navigator did tell me that there are times on the Lido Deck when they have games on the MUTS screen with the Tagalongs like video games. (They called it Games Under the Stars, GUTS, not the most elegant acronym.) So I guess you can have that if you like it. One of the things that Princess was advertising was being able to order bar service and such from your phone app. I didn't find this feature available and when you did order anything, they wanted your Cruise Card and not the Medallion. The only exception was at a few locations they had Medallion readers at the desk or at some of the bars so you could scan it yourself. But if you were ordering from your seat, they still needed the card. Overall, I didn't find much to enjoy or appreciate about the Medallion except the tracking feature when it came to my kid. I suspect that it's not fully developed yet though. So more to come I guess. Not to be confused with the Ocean Medallion is the new Internet product, Medallion.Net, which was EXCELLENT. Best internet access at sea right now. Stable and high-speed. Not much to say about the islands on this trip that hasn't already been said. But one point is that the CB has an engineering limitation right now that prevents her from going full speed. This will be fixed in a future drydock overhaul. There is nothing unsafe about this, but it did mean that one island was dropped from the itinerary because the ship couldn't go fast enough to get there. So Princess gave everyone $50 OBC as recompense, which was fine. Entertainment was a delight. The CD mas Micca Reitano, and the ACDs were Ana, and Dan. All three were just wonderful. However, it did appear that there were a few nights where the entertainment program was lacking. No game show in Explorers, and no production show or performer in the Theater. (Maybe just a movie or a football game... boring! We can watch movies in the cabins.) Our son really enjoyed the kid's club and they were just great with so many kids on board for the holiday cruise. They had a full slate of programming and it was thumbs up all around. One note about the cabins. They put in large flat screen TVs on an articulated wall arm. This is great. What's not so great is that the TV is above the mini-fridge and right be the slider to balcony. Because it gets hidden behind the curtains, on several occasions my spouse and I had hit our heads on the corner of the TV, since it wasn't pushed "all-the-way" back into the corner. Be warned! Overall, a great and relaxing cruise. We enjoyed it a lot. The Ocean Medallion stuff was mostly irrelevant. We would gladly do this cruise again! Read Less

The reason my family and I decided upon Princess was the length of the cruise. All other lines failed to offer a 14 day cruise. We researched the ship, it was about 14 years old, it had undergone a maintenance a couple of years ago.. The ship looked very nice from the outside, The inside looked clean, the state rooms were in good shape. The only two items I found with the ship was the lower railings on the balcony. They were heavily rusted, and the fan system in the elevators did not cycle air very well and when entering a full elevator the air quality was very poor. My family and I had never cruised before, we learned much about the how cruises work, Embarkation and debarkation was an experience we can now understand better. Our flight out was set for around 6pm EST, The ship had us out of our cabins at 8am we ended up waiting for our flight for 7 hours. It would have been nice if we could have remained aboard until later in the day and then transferred to our flight. The dining experience was enjoyable, We tried all of the food options and were satisfied, We switched our scheduled dining from 3 nights at crown grill, and 3 nights at Sabatini's to 5 nights at Crown Grill and 1 night at Sabatini's. We found that the meals were more to our liking at Crown Grill. We had multiple shore excursions and the activities aboard the ship were enjoyable, The shows were good and the times shown were spaced just right so that we could eat and get to one of the shows. Service aboard the ship was always good, with one minor exception at the Salty Dog. my son ran into an unfriendly staff problem. But the staff other than this was always helpful. The shore excursions were enjoyed by all. My wife and I are older and cannot do the things that are sons are capable of,The only area that would have helped would have been to have steps going into the excursions. The helmet dive in Aruba was great. The steps lead into the activity. The Sea Lion in St. Thomas and the Sting Ray in Antigua all had ladders to go into the pool or sea. If they could add a set of steps this would make it easier for older folks to enjoy the activities. Read Less

The Bad : Ship shakes under sail and unbelievably worse in port, especially annoying when you are dining. Common areas good condition but we had hit and miss cabins this fall and winter, some ok and some awful condition. Ship staff said they can’t update the rooms without a dry dock and the company keeps putting that off. Personally had and witnessed some negative interactions with the Guest Services Staff. As typical of the brand no built in activies for active adults and children. Just off a Christmas cruise on another ship of the brand, many families cruising and the young people were bored out of their minds. Royal Caribbean, Carnival or Norwegian would have been a better choice for a family vacation. The Good: The company has invested in Internet upgrades for this ship. Room and Dining staff generally excellent as is usual throughout the brand. Food quality and selection was on par with the brand and far superior to Royal Caribbean. Read Less

We wanted to do at least 14 days without returning to ft Lauderdale. So we choose the 14 day circle the Caribbean. The Caribbean princess now has the medallion in full use and has a negative effect on the coffee package if you don't use all 15 speciality coffees on this cruise you loose them can't carry over to next cruise. Also on this cruise food was very good in regular dinning rooms an service was very good. However the food in the specialty dinning like crown grill has gone down hill the last few Cruise's not only have the raised the price and amount but the stakes don't seem as good had to sent more than one back, the spiney crab cakes lacked the crab and paying 10 dollars extra for a small lobester tail or 39 dollars per person isn't worth it, normally we would have eaten there 3 or 4 times but was so disappointed we only made 1 visit this cruise. Our balcony cabin was nice but shows it's wear, the refrigerator shelving was missing and the door bracket was also missing, carpet had Abad stain and had to ask to get floor sweep. Also had very few hangers in room (18) not enough for two people and 14 day the outhr 3 couples with had the same probles and had to get hangers fro the laundry Dept. Many things seemed disorganized even the crew members said that the supperviseers lacked common sense and wanted them do thin backwards they also payed Little attention to what we as passengers wrote on how are we doing cards. As an elite passenger many of things we're in titled to is no longer just provided, but now are by request only and don't expect them right away have to get approved by manager. Read Less

The positives. The dining room food was excellent as was the Marketplace buffet. The BBQ at the rear does need some reorganization as the lines for the wok cooking are long. The medallion worked well around the ship. The shows in the theater were excellent The negatives. The piazza is too small for any entertainment as are someof the bars around. The sky walker bar at the back of the ship was not used at all. Who wants to go for a disco at 11 pm? The entertainment was not well organised some activities overlappedwhen one finished another had already started. There was not a lotof the usual daily activities salsa, line dancing, Apart from the pool deckthe only activity was to sit around in a bar and drink. They should take some direction from The Royal activities. The coffee card is now only useful for 14 day cruises,Unless you want both of you drinking cappuccinos every dayfor 7 days its not worth it at $35.They do need a 7 day version. The ports were ok with Trinidad added but princess needs to revamp their itinerary as it is now very repetitive. The Crown grill was very poor, steaks were tough and together with the baked potato was cold.Sent it all backbut had to wait to get the replacement and by this time we weren'thungry. Sabotinis has a new menu but who wants to pay 29 for pasta? Plus most of the items on the menu my wife does not like. Should convert it to a french bistro or a Japanese restaurant. This ship is too small for 3000 pax and 14 days is too long. Movies under the stars in the afternoon in the heat a no goat least put on a movie either in the theatre or the vista lounge at the sametime. Back to the Royal. Read Less
