My wife and I decided we needed to revisit a few of the European, and other ports, we had already visited. A kind of follow up. On this cruise I was able to check off three boxes on the Bucket List. The Vatican Museum, Pompeii and Venice, the St Mark's Basilica after hours tour. All were amazing. What has become very clear is that the excursion leader is as important as the excursion. All the the tour guides were passionate about their country's and their destinations. We also visited Sicily, a few Greek isles and others. Due to some unforeseen circumstances we were able to upgrade to a Suite on the Pacific Princess. What a wonderful luxury it was too. This was our first time, and it was worth the extra money, even though it was a deal we couldn't refuse. This ship was clearly very well run. All of the crew were friendly, especially a few of the bartenders we frequented daily. While we no longer care about the formal nights, we enjoyed the buffet area for most of our meals. We prefer to remain causal and eat when we want versus the ship's timetable. We were very pleased with the level of service and destinations on this cruise. Read Less

We had dreamed of going to Italy for many years and this cruise provided us the opportunity to see a large part of Italy for a reasonable price. The excursions were perfect and we stayed in Rome 3 days prior to the cruise and spent 3 extra days in Barcelona on the way home. We had some concerns about the possibility of a Ianguage barrier but the ship's staff and the tour guides made it all very easy! I cannot say enough wonderful things about this European cruise! If you ever get the chance, hop on board, you won't be disappointed! The food on board was good, although we enjoyed eating locally when we were off the ship and we had plenty of opportunity to do so. The on-board activities were the "usual" but still very nice. The cleanliness of the ship itself was beyond reproach, as are all Princess Cruises! Read Less

Took the Eastern Med cruise. Had a great time with many ports of call. Each port provided transportation to where ever you wanted to visit. Our choice were antiquities and we visited many museums and ancient temples. Turkey's and Greece's Island were just great and the view from the mountains in Santorin were breathtaking. We did travel in Istanbul and the travel guide provide historical details for all the stops. We were a disturbed at the problems with the politics and would probably not travel there after the latest news reports. The ship was well manned and the help was very friendly with entertainment every night at sea. They have movie under the stars which enjoyed although a bit brisk at night so you will need a sweater and they provide blankets. The restaurant Santorin on board the ship had the best Italian dinner of the cruise. The Cruise line goes out of their way to make your trip comfortable and the food is well prepared in the cafeteria. Read Less

Firstly I can not complain about the staff on the Ship they all worked very hard, Allthough some staff did have difficulty in having 100% command of English. I am not a fan of American beers and was shocked at the absence of british beers, The vast majority of persons on the cruise were British . Secondly when ordering a drinck I had no idea of the actual cost as this was not displayed. Last year my wife and I went on a P&0 cruise and were basically spoilt by the entertainment and indeed the quality bar service. On the princess my wife and I could not find a sun bed as they were not enough to go round,Also the pools were full of children so I could not swim. The entertainment shows lasted 30 mins . Allthough I was very impressed with Comedian John Martin who was excellent. Afternoon tea was a disaster due to the staff not really knowing how to conduct this service. Sandwiches were mixed with scones and cakes put on the same plate. Before finishing the sandwiches. As I mentioned The vast majority of passengers were British and have different tastes to American services. I personally will always book with P&0 I do feel when it comes to customer service they are the best . I am a proffessional Tour guide and always put the guest first, Making sure that everyone is treated the same this was not the case on the Carribbean princess. Simon Entwistle top hat tours Read Less

My husband and I have taken 3 cruises each with a different line (RCL, Holland America & Carnival). After reading the reviews and checking prices we decided on the Caribbean Princess and since it was our 25th anniversary we opted for the balcony. We hit unexpected traffic and arrived about 4 pm and were probably one of the last passengers to embark. There were no lines and no waiting. We wanted to see our stateroom first and were pleased to find balloons outside the door congratulating our anniversary. The steward was right on hand and introduced himself AND the room to us. This was a first! Everything was very clean and pleasantly furnished with more than adequate storage for clothes and suitcases and having a safe was nice also. What drew our attention was the view from the balcony it was spectacular! We decided to watch the departure from there instead of looking out a closed window or leaning over a rail. The checked luggage was delivered in a very timely manner. The ship is very clean and in good repair. It is tastefully decorated and lighted and flows nicely making it easy to navigate. The dining room was large but the seating arrangement and spot lighting made it seem intimate. There were more men in tuxedo's and ladies in long gowns than on previous cruises and that added elegant atmosphere. The menus could have been clearer as to what each dish consisted of and it's a pain to keep having to ask "What's this?" so we stayed with what we knew and that was very good. The wait staff was friendly and the service excellent. Since this was the 3rd time to the Caribbean we didn't even get off the ship in port or at Princess Cay…If you already live in the tropics it's just another day at the beach. I found the shops on-board to be the largest and best stocked so far. Our favorite place is the casino! Other ships seemed to tuck it in as an after thought but this one was spacious with a large bar and all the tables and machines you could ask for. Since we are originally from Boston we wondered if they would be showing the World Series. We found a small cigar bar with easy chairs and sofas and had a great time! There were 2 days of rather rough seas but that's expected in October. I wore the patch and had no problem. My complaints are few…The beds are hard as rocks! Ask for an egg crate overlay I wish we had. The stateroom was rather warm even with the thermostat as low as possible. Beside the view I think the balcony was the most disappointing. The chairs are the cheap white molded plastic jobs that are $5 at Wal-Mart, no cushions. We were high up on the Riviera deck and could see down to ALL the balconies below. Even the partitions that divided the balconies side to side afford no privacy. Conversations unless whispered are easily heard. The sliders are a struggle to budge and seem to suck the a/c out of the room and it took hours to cool down the room leaving it very humid. The bathroom shower stall was so incredibly narrow I had trouble raising my arms to wash my hair without flooding the bath floor. Overall the Pro's far outweigh the Con's. I wouldn't recommend paying the extra for the balcony unless you have no need for privacy. Read Less

Princess Cruise Lines will be the only cruise line I will even consider in the future. Just got back 2 days ago (Cruise 10/2-10/9 2004). I cannot say enough. We have been on others, nothing compares to the beautiful ship with all the extras, i.e. deeply padded chairs on the balcony, to the wonderful service, exceptional dining and cleanliness of the Caribbean Princess. Extras from the Movie screen that is over one of the pools that even during the daytime is crystal clear with excellent sound. They showed movies, concerts and yes, Monday Night Football. It was surreal. The cuisine in the 7 restaurants was incredible. Everything from buffets to upscale Italian to steakhouses and you could eat when and where you wanted. With over 3100 on board I had my doubts but there was never a LINE. I am a former 5 Diamond 5 star Hotel Concierge, so needless to say I am picky, but I have to tell you this Ship was exceptional in every way. Do yourself a favor and go as soon as possible, I know we will be back on board for many Princess Vacations to come. We are already planning our next Princess Cruise. Congrats to The Caribbean Princess and Captain Romano for a job well done! Read Less
