Oceanview (obstructed view) (OY) Cabin Reviews

A fully obstructed oceanview cabin just forward of the aft bank of elevators. Very convenient location. Everything found in a standard Princess cabin other than the addition of a lifeboat in front of your window.

We had an oceanview cabin and felt it was the best layout of any cruise cabin we have had. There was room to move and enough storage for our clothes. We really liked the big closet and shelves. Showers are never big enough, but that is with all cruises. Only felt rocking one night when we hit a big storm, otherwise, it was super quiet and very convenient to the stairs and elevators. I'm not sure which category our obstructed view was, but you could see out between the life boats. There is more mechanical stuff in between and the workers are sometimes there during the day, but I just need to check the weather and how light/dark it is outside, plus see if we are in port or still moving. For the economy, this was suitable for us. Read Less

Worked fine for 2 strangers matched together through the singles group. We had plenty of room to hang our clothes and shelves to unpack. Only thing is they need more electrical outlets as we only seemed to have two by the mirror and the light switch was so close that you could only use one of them, as it would turn on the light if you used that one next to the switch. Our cabin was E627, an obstructed ocean view cabin. First time we ever stayed in an obstructed view cabin - our view was between two tenders and allowed us to see the ocean - only problem was the stairs that lead up to the life boats were right at our window so when in port, if the crew was working on the tenders they could look into our window. I did not mind the cabin but my hubby did not like it. If your into saving money and don't mind the limited view this is actually a great choice. Read Less

Cabin E625 restricted view outside. Cabin was nice restricted view was back end of tender but could see sea/horizon through half the window. Was pretty quiet - Laundry did not cause noise and neither did being opposite the main access point for crew. However Tender operations meant pre 7am wake up (Noise from lowering etc). Sockets - I need loads due to medical equipment and it was tight mainly due to two sockets near the phone being so close together that with a UK socket convertor could only use one on them - there is one behind the TV as well and you can at a push unplug the lamps. Kettle : UK cruises beware... no kettle (or coffee etc in room). However as on the cruise personaliser one of the PDF documents on the princess website says Non thermastatically controlled kettles are not allowed in room - i took it to mean that thermastically ones are so stuck a travel one in a suitcase - and had no issues with using it or bringing it on. (I know some of you will be horrified by this but i was happy to be told i couldn't use it but seeing i drink loads of tea it was worth trying). I find the rooms a bit warm even set to cold so took a travel fan (that really helped) Bed - oh gosh so very very hard - got a pillow top mattress cover put on by steward which helped a bit - but RCL and Celebrity mattress so much better.
