Trouble on NCL Dawn in Africa

Review for a Africa Cruise on Norwegian Dawn

There is something definitely wrong on this ship. I got a stomach virus after 3 days of sailing and was put in isolation. After taking my medicine, I barely are for the subsequent 3 days. And, I got the bug, again. I traced my problem to a common denominator: Caesar Salad. The Captain ordered that crews must serve passengers in the buffet area. We aren't even allowed to get water by ourselves. ...

Did Norwegian know where we going?

I was disappointed with this cruise. I think NCL had a chance to make it something special but chose not to. We had only sailed on Norwegian once before and had not particularly enjoyed it but the itinerary that NCL originally offered with stops in West Africa, Cape Verde and Morocco was so unusual and interesting that we decided to give Norwegian another go. The first disappointment was that ...

Just returned from a cruise on Norwegian Dawn around South Africa. We had notification before leaving that we would not be visiting Ludderitz in Namibia, and the time in Durban would be reduced to 4 hours. We had 3 consecutive days at sea, and another two individual days at sea. At Richards Bay we were docked at a coal processing plant. Nowhere to go, and we were charged $10 to get a shuttle bus ...

We chose NCL and this ship because of the itinerary and we wanted to explore more of South Africa. Embarkation was smooth. Collected cruise cards on the ship- all very convenient. The food in the garden buffet- quite basic and a very scant choice at breakfast. The food in the compimrntary Venetian restaurant was hit and miss. The first time, very small portions. Bread wasn’t offered, ...

First and Last NCL cruise

Review for a Africa Cruise on Norwegian Jade

User Avatar

We have never cruised with NCL prior to this cruise and this will also be our last. We originally selected NCL because of the South Africa itinerary booking it in August 2021. From beginning to end the cruise was disorganized with the left hand not knowing what the right hand was doing. Our Durban port of call was cancelled with no real explanation except "out of our control" and the itinerary ...

NCL cruise disappointing

This was a 12 day South African cruise we booked early. We were told that we were getting a great price for a this cruise (35%), only to find out many were getting up to 55%. We booked early because it was filling up fast. All lies by NCL. This was not our first cruise with NCL, but our fifth. We use Carnival for many years, but decide to scale down a little from the fun ship. Our past experiences ...

Boring cruise and food. Ice cream machine was the highlight..

Ship was top notch but passenger atmosphere was lacking. Cruise dedicated to older seniors and ship was more like a retirement village with the entertainment to suit this demographic. Definitely not suited to a single traveler even though I am older. Things did improve when Australians embarked in Fremantle. I did not eat at the Brittanica Restaurant because I prefer to eat when I feel like it and ...

Cunard not what it is made out to be!

We were not happy with this cruise. We have cruised dozens of times, but this was the first and last on Cunard. They cater to a group of loyal Cunard passengers, and do nothing for anyone else. The pro's: The cabin was nice. For the most part, the entertainment was very good. The embarkation was excellent. We received excellent service from our cabin steward and the Britannia Restaurant ...

QM2 wonderful ship but poor quality

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

The QM2 is a magnificent ship and looked so as we boarded in Cape Town. Embarkation was very slow and we noticed immediately there were few smiles. Once on board we spent some time trying to find our stateroom without much help. The stateroom itself was adequate with a great bed and pillows. We also had a protected balcony which proved very useful and attractive. Exploring the ship was difficult ...

Underwhelmed by QM2

Embarkation in Cape Town: Brilliant! Booking at the International Convention Centre was so easy and so fast, easily the best embarkation we have yet experienced. Our Balcony Cabin: We were right down the stern, and it felt like we were also right over the propellers! We slept badly the first two nights until we got used to the "thud thud thud" and the rattling of items in the ...
