Beyond Expectations

Review for a Italy Cruise on MSC Opera

This was our first cruise and we were naturally a little apprehensive about how we would cope with such a long time on board. Our fears were allayed considerably by the friendliness, courtesy and efficiency of the staff. The ship was immaculate at all times and the hard work put in by the crew was unobtrusive. The accommodation was most acceptable. The food interesting and tasty as well as ...

Had a Blast!

I booked this cruise as a surprise for my Mum as friends of ours had done this route the year before (different ship) and had so much fun so were doing it again in 2015. I have to start by saying that I was one of those people who said that I've got no interest in going on a cruise, mainly because I am a very independent traveller and did not like the idea of being 'trapped' in one place with ...

Everything was awesome just the boarding takes a while and that's the only negative thing I can say.The staff on-board is very friendly and helpful. Have no complaint. The other thing is its better to add money on the card when your on-board the ship The Shows that MSC have on-board is one of the most awesome shows you will ever see, you have to watch all the shows! The Food are the best ...

MSC Opera upped the ante

MSC Opera - Captain, ship and staff - take a bow! Wow, I have just disembarked from the Opera in Durban (trip from Cape Town) Wow MSC have certainly upped the ante. I cannot rave enough about the ship, the staff, the food, the facilities, the improved boarding and disembarking procedures. I have been on just about every MSC ship that has been in Durban over many years and sailed on a ship from a ...

I was on the MSC Opera for 3 short back-to-back cruises, 10 days in total. This cruise started in Cape Town, South African…. sailed to Walvis Bay in Namibia, returned to Cape Town for a two day cruise to nowhere then sailed to Durban via Port Elizabeth. This was my 19th cruise; previous cruises were with MSC, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Cunard, Celebrity and Louis Cruises. Here are my ...

Grand Voyage Cape Town to Southampton April/May 2014

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on MSC Opera

Embarkation at Cape Town terminal took a long time. Had to stand in long queues on a hot day, it took nearly three hours before we walked on board. We had difficulty in finding our cabin on Deck 7 as the lifts nearest to the boarding area do not go to that part. It would have been good to have a crew member to explain how to get to our cabin. The cabin we booked and paid for was an Ocean View ...

NEVER AGAIN....

My wife and I have been on a number of cruises, but this was to be a first with MSC. Boarding on the 28th April in Cape Town was a shambles - no porters to assist the elderly with heavy bags, no trolleys, 3 hours of queuing, and when finally aboard, told that cabins not ready. We had an Ocean View (no.3086, just below the balcony cabin deck), which was considerably smaller than on any other ...

Cape Town to Southampton - what a disappointment!

Just returned from this repositioning cruise with MSC Opera. The service/organisation was appalling. This is our 22nd cruise and by far the worst. Here are the main gripes!: 1. Chaos at embarkation – no-one to tell us where to leave our cases before joining the queue. We were 1.5 hours in line! 2. Sleeping arrangements- We had requested twin beds but found our room to have a double. We had to ...

Never again MSC

It all started with at least an hour and a half standing in line to check in. On arrival at the check in desk we were given our cards but no mention about registering our credit cards for our on board account. We had to go find where to do it once on board and do it there. On arrival at our cabin we found the room to be made up as a double bed, NOT as twin beds as had been quite specifically ...

Smooth sailing from Cape Town to Genoa on the lovely Opera

Previous reviewers made me wonder if we'd made a mistake booking this cruise again (we'd enjoyed it so much 2 years ago on the Melody) but we need not have worried. Also having paid a very low price we expected that there may have been lots of cuts to the quality of the food, service and entertainment. Not so. The food in the restaurant was perfectly acceptable, at times really excellent, and ...
