Review for a Trans-Ocean Cruise on MSC Sinfonia

I spent six weeks travelling through South Africa and decided to return to Europe by cruise. In spring 2023 there were exactly five ships doing this. Costa, Aida, Phoenix and two MSC vessels. Costa visited on the world cruise and no cabin was available. Aida did a fast track through the Atlantic Ocean and mainly visited ports in Europe, in my opinion no attractive itinerary. Phoenix did extensive ...

We travelled on a 30 day “Grand Voyage” from Cape Town to Venice on the MSC Sinfonia in March/April 2023. This is a 3.5 star vessel, and the onboard experience met or slightly exceeded expectations at that price point. The ship is well maintained, and the food entertainment and service are normally good. Note, this ship was cut in two and more cabins inserted. This put a strain on the facilities ...

Ship Never Showed

We chose the cruise because it was supposed to pick us up in Walvis Bay, Namibia and it was a repositioning cruise to Europe. The duration, dates, and destination of the cruise were a perfect fit... we thought. Even though we had written permission from MSC to board the ship in Walvis Bay, Namibia, the ship never showed up. They never contacted us. No letter, no email, no text, no call. We ...

Disappointing

This was our first cruise with MSC and we were super disappointed, especially after the big hype. To start off, we were clearly instructed to not arrive before our embarkation time, which was 12pm. We got the just before 12, thinking it would be a smooth embarkation. We stood in 3 different queues. For 3 hours. They don’t have any way of stopping those that arrive too early (there were people ...

We went on our dream cruise on the Sinfonia out of Cape Town to Walvis Bay, we left Cape Town 2 hours late the sea was quite rough and we arrived in Walvis Bay 2 hours late and this took 2 hours of our tour of Walvis Bay and Swakopmund I was peeved of as it cost quite a lot for the tour and we had to be back on board by 14.30 to sail at 16.00. We got on our way and arrived back in Cape Town some 4 ...

It was my wife's 70th birthday present and must honestly say we were disappointed Stood in the hot sun in CT for 4 hours in gusting winds ... no water We were told to be there at 2.00pm we got to our cabin 6.10pm without one suitcase. Granted the wind was blowing in CT but no communication when we will depart. Due to bad weather we departed one day later again with no communication ...

The cruise was amazing. The weather was a bit against us in CPT harbor but the crew tried the best to keep on going with activities even though we were anchored. It great for the whole family. I felt safe with my kids roaming around. The dining was the best ever, I was so impressed by the waiter. He saw to our dining needs. My kids enjoyed him to the fullest. Even the language was no barrier, his ...

The cruise was lovely, once we boarded. The only issue was that we waited for 6 and half hours to board the ship. People were tired and refused to stand in line. There was a stampede and many of us were almost trampled. The security refused to take action and help with the lines until a few of the women started literally screaming at him. Eventually the security intervened and tried to sort out ...

Entertainment was brilliant

Entertainment was brilliant, Dancing and Magic shows were the best as well as the live musicians. Buffet food was honestly not that great except for the pizza (burgers was the absolute worst, seems to have been old), but the food in the restaurants was excellent. The staff was the most impressive to me personally. They were extremely helpful positive and professional even though the people ...

Not the best cruise I've been on

The embarkment process was a nightmare. There was no information to passengers waiting to embark and then the priority pass people were mixed with the regular pass people - so what was the difference in priority people paying more? Rip off if you ask me. Besides the delay which was due to the weather and not the fault of MSC, I found the bar attendants and room cleaners to be abrupt (some ...
