We chose this cruise as a relaxing  way to get home from South Africa. 

The ship gave a grand impression with wood paneling a feature. It appeared well maintained. For those who get sea sick, there was quite a bit of movement, even in relatively calm seas. 

We had a balcony cabin, we started in 5137- midship. This cabin had a tender boat directly underneath it , which obstructed our view down to the water. After a few days sailing we were able to move to 5159 , nil obstructions and a bigger balcony. The shower is tiny however hot water plentiful and towels fluffy. 

The staff were unobtrusive yet attentive. They seemed happy and were all polite.

The food was enjoyable.  They catered very well for food intolerance. My friend was given the following days menu to choose from and they made were able to adapt most choices to gluten free for her, with notice. 

The day spa's prices were exorbitant- eyebrow tinting $44 US plus tip , manicure $88 US plus tip etc-  staff were stationed at the door trying to entice passengers in- if prices were reasonable people would have been lined up !

The demographic was 80+ with the activities and entertainment to match. The entertainment team lacked presence. There was an annual staff tug of war organised, which surprisingly drew a crowd, otherwise, unless there was a two for one trunk sale on, it was difficult to find other passengers ! 

I enjoyed the promenade deck, which enabled a full lap of the ship - 3 laps = .9 miles. The only down side was that there is a smoking area on the port side, so coped a lung full of smoke on each lap when exercising. 

There a two pools, the front one more sheltered, getting a deck lounge was nil issue. 

We only had 2 ports on the way home. As usual the excursions were pricey. 

On Re union island I opted for a visit to the turtle sanctuary, which was unguided and information written in French.....

Mauritius we did a catamaran trip to snorkel , this was magical.

Relaxing but sedate

Ship was top notch but passenger atmosphere was lacking. Cruise dedicated to older seniors and ship was more like a retirement village with the entertainment to suit this demographic. Definitely not suited to a single traveler even though I am older. Things did improve when Australians embarked in Fremantle. I did not eat at the Brittanica Restaurant because I prefer to eat when I feel like it and not be constrained by set timing. Food at the Lido was was below par and a table very difficult to find. If I waited until the show was on, it was less crowded but the food was limited and very dry.  My cabin was excellent, very roomy and clean and the tea and coffee making facilities were really appreciated. All staff on the ship were courteous and helpful. The shuttle buses in the ports were also appreciated. I spent most of my time in the cabin because activities were couples orientated so I did watch a lot of television with the shows being constantly repeated. Cruise did not live up to the cost and hype.

 Boring cruise and food. Ice cream machine was the highlight..

Chose this cruise as it meant i did not have to fly home after visiting South Africa.  Embarkation was very good in Capetown, Cabin seemed a bit smaller than other lines (balcony).  Very impressed with all the seating areas that were available and they were not closed for half the day.for art auctions.  Did expect a bigger menu range at the dining room, and did find the gravy on what seemed all the food quite annoying.  The waiter did sort this out by the 2nd night and from then on all sauces and gravy were served separately on the side.The dining staff were extremely helpful and were definitely above average as was our cabin steward. The entertainment was very mediocre and there were very few lectures that I bothered to go and see, and evening shows I avoided all together, although my partner did say that there were a couple of performers that were outstanding.  I did like the kettle in your state room this was so good if you woke up early and did not want to go to the lido for an early cuppa I always carry my own jar of coffee so only had to ensure that I had some milk in the fridge,only tried one cocktail on this cruise mostly due to the high prices of alcohol, but fruit juices available 24 hours a day. Only did one Cunard tour off the ship in Mauritius, the tour itself was good but the guide was a little confused and instructions were not very clear and for what was involved was quite pricey. Visited the gym on two occasions when could not walk the decks like a lot of ships very limited space for the group classes  good range of equipment but very crowded. Did find that a lot of the windows were very grubby, I know its a ship but on a different ship everytime we were in port they would be out cleaning the windows.  All in all an interesting cruise and a good way to sample the Cunard experience, but for the price was just an average experience, in some respects Holland America, and other cruise lines I have been on match or in some areas were a better experience.

Interesting but nothing made me want to return to Cunard exclusiviely

This cruise was a treat for a special occasion.  All of Cunard's advertising exudes 'Luxury and Glamour'. We did not know that we had paid all that money to join the last leg of around the world cruise for a 'don't care home'!!  Our checkin and boarding was a disaster as we were checked into the room I had booked, but in some one else's name!  We subsequently were hawked about a couple of floors to find the right cabin and then spent the afternoon dodging wheelchairs and aged people with walking sticks etc.. The only luxury in evidence were pictures and marquetry decorating the walls in public areas.  Subsequently the bars were empty and no audiences for the brilliant musicians. It was like a ghost ship with no ambience.

The so called 'glitzy gala balls' were no more than Hammersmith Palais on a bad day with 5 employed male and 1 female dancers to get people on the floor and guests turning up in casual clothes, one woman near me in my evening finery was wearing a fleece and track suit trousers!  

We ate a mere twice in the main dining room, first night the steak was like shoe leather, second night we had to suffer an unacceptable being. This was fixed dining and no other tables were available so we had to eat in the Lido everyday.

This is definitely not what I expected.  Cunard response was a 'snowflake' phoned me up to palm me off with a £200 pound voucher off a P&O cruise.  What an insult.

Disaster. Trading on a bygone era and name that no longer exist.

We joined Queen Elizabeth on the 20th April in Cape Town.   We had travelled on quite a few cruises on Queen Mary, but wow we were blown away by Queen Elizabeth.  From the moment we stepped aboard, our holiday began and it was wonderful the entire journey.  From the food in the Lido to the Brittannia, we could not have asked for more.   The shows were wonderful, with the exception of one show.   Our entire experience was superb and we so look forward to being able to travel on Queen Elizabeth again.   The cabin was in a lovely condition.  It was really easy to navigate through the ship without getting loss.  I certainly recommend a holiday on Queen Elizabeth.   The staff on the ship were only too happy to go the extra mile, whether it was in Brittannia or at the buffet in the Lido.  The friendliness was absolutely superb.

Wonderful relaxing cruise

What a fabulous cruise - wonderful ship, lovely food and just the best dancing ever.

We booked this cruise because we love to dance - although we are only social dancers, we do enjoy it. There was a dance class each sea day taught by the lovely Eugene and Darya and dancing each evening in the Queens room as well as great music in the Yacht Club.

There are 6 male dance hosts that dance with single ladies as well as ladies who's husbands don't dace. These are lovely guys and were very good at maneuvering ladies around the dance floor.  There was also a sequence dance taught each day that we could do in the evenings. This is the only cruise we've enjoyed where I have not put on weight...gotta love that!  

Embarkation was a bit disjointed as we went to the ship first before being re-directed to the convention center for check-in and then sent by bus to the ship.

Lovely cabin -6094 - Princess Grill. Plenty of hanging space. Very quiet.

Meals in the Princess Grill were good but a bit limited. Until that is, I requested salmon and was told that it was available - I just had to ask. Also, if I wanted anything from the lunch menu for that evenings dinner - again, just ask! 

We loved the dance demonstration each evening at sea by the professional dance couple - they were fantastic. We only went to the show 5 nights from the 16 and thought they were a bit amateurish although the magician was very good.

There were other activities around the ship on the sea days but we didn't partake in any so cant comment on them.

Cant wait for our next cruise on Cunard.
