Service inconsistent but enjoyable itinerary - South Africa & Namibia

Review for a Africa Cruise on Norwegian Jade

We chose this sailing because a) it was over Xmas and New Year and b) the itinerary. We had sailed with NCL previously and enjoyed all cruises. On this cruise there was a distinct inconsistency in service. The front desk were just appalling, as were the future cruise and excursion desks. Not sure they wanted to be there and were not well informed about their own products and services. The ...

Had booked a land trip with Safari, Capetown and Victoria Falls during the pandemic but that got cancelled. Was so amazed by the entire cruise experience. This was a surprising adventure with a mixture of cosmopolitan scapes in Capetown, Durban and Walvis Bay ports. At times felt like I was visiting the various islands in Hawaii with the various weather influences: Rainfall, Drought and just a ...

Food was good (sometimes great) though the Compass Rose is a bit large so we often ate in the smaller restaurants including the Italian (Seti Mare). You can often do walk-ins at the 'posh' restaurants. If late back from a trip they kept the lunch open after 2pm. We had 4 days of bad weather, a bit of a downer, which also meant missing a port and having 4 days at sea with little extra ...

Review for a Africa Cruise on Azamara Quest

This 26 night cruise started in Cape Town and was to end in Dubai. Sadly Corona Virus decided to intervene which resulted in the cruise missing many ports of call and a premature ending in Muscat which was not a planned port of call. Many countries refused us entry due to the fear of cruise ships being floating Petri dishes. There was a daily update from the Captain regarding our situation and ...

I just want to make a couple of points in comparison of these two lines as many on board have sailed on both lines. As a matter of fact just over one month prior I did a 31 day "Around Australia Circumnavigation with New Guinea, Bali, Komodo Island on the Oceania R-Class 1. I am not loyal cruise ship passenger. My priorities are first the itinerary, then the quality of the ship/ line ...

Overall a very enjoyable cruise. What we like about Azamara ....the friendly crew/ officers, the small ship atmosphere, the food, the Living Room and The Den with good live music....it was all there on this South Africa Intensive itinerary. The azamazing evening was at the Cape Town City Hall. There were plenty of drinks and dessert canapés to try and a very good performance by the ...

Overall, we experienced a very good cruise, and would definitely sail with Azamara again. This was our first voyage with Azamara, and we have previously sailed with Windstar, as well as Carnival, and NCL (never will go back to a large ship like those again! The Club Veranda rooms were small, but very comfortable. We used the balcony often, and it was adequate size. The entertainment for ...

Relaxing but sedate

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Queen Elizabeth

We chose this cruise as a relaxing way to get home from South Africa. The ship gave a grand impression with wood paneling a feature. It appeared well maintained. For those who get sea sick, there was quite a bit of movement, even in relatively calm seas. We had a balcony cabin, we started in 5137- midship. This cabin had a tender boat directly underneath it , which obstructed our view ...

Review for a Africa Cruise on Silver Cloud Expedition

The Silversea expedition ship Silver Cloud may be old, but it’s totally modern, attractive and comfortable. My wife and I had a wonderful 34-day cruise in spring 2019 from Capetown to Lisbon, stopping at 17 places in western Africa. Our suite was great, as were the staff and the public areas. Food ranged from good to very good, sometimes excellent. There were shortcomings. Three scheduled ports ...
