The St Lawrence River from Quebec to Kingston

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Canadian Empress

The Canadian Empress is a replica of the old steam operated passenger riverboats that used to cruise in the Thousand Islands of the St Lawrence River. There are of course modifications for the 21st century, even WIFI, so our travel was more comfortable than it would have been in the early 19th century. All travel is done in daylight hours, so you can maximize the scenery. We travelled from ...

Spring Had Not Arrived Yet

We chose this cruise because we had never been to eastern Canada, and it was the only cruise and time of year the ship visited Toronto as well as Montreal and Quebec City. The best part and a surprise treat was that all shore excursions were complimentary. That saved us over $1,000 and freed us to choose what we wanted to do without regard to price. In some ports we took two shore excursions a ...

Good Itinerary; Tired Ship

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Pearl Mist

I chose this cruise because I had never visited the part of eastern Canada the itinerary covered. The staff is attentive, service is excellent, food very good. The the ship caters to seniors but, unfortunately, assumes that all seniors are inactive; there is no treadmill, the fitness equipment that is available is in poor condition and located outside, making it unusable in inclement weather. ...

A challenging cruise with rough seas and missed ports of call

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Pearl Mist

My husband and I chose this cruise as we had previously toured the area in the late 1990's via two road trips and decided that we'd enjoy viewing it again from the water with fall foliage in its prime. Unfortunately Hurricane Michael decided to disappoint us with rough seas and rain through out our cruise, causing us to miss 3 of the 9 ports (Baie-Comeau, Halifax, & Bar Harbor) on our scheduled ...

We like the smaller cruise ships. This one was supposedly a step up from the American cruise line so we wanted to see if that was the case and the destination was one we truly wanted to see and experience. Let’s talk about what was best on this cruise. The entertainment was by far the best I’ve experienced on any cruise, large ship or small ship. Dusty and Stevie were phenomenal in that they ...

From a villa in St. Barths to crossing the Atlantic on the QE2 in Princess class after a week in Epernay France, I consider myself a discerning traveller. We embarked on the Canadian Empress from my hometown of Kingston Ontario intrigued by a voyage on the St. Lawrence River through the locking system to our final destination of Quebec City. It will enter my travelogue as one of the most ...

This was a 2nd cruise with American and while it was not quite as enjoyable as cruising the Chesapeake Bay on the brand new Constellation, it was still worth the cost. Our trip was a "Lobster" cruise and Lobster it was. Lobster was available on every menu and it was real Maine Lobster. If you ever want to see how much lobster you can eat in a week this is the cruise for you. While the Independence ...

We chose this cruise because of the number of guests. We have been on large ships before and wanted a change. This was absolutely great,so personable and the comradery worked well. We met lots of nice people and also had a celebrity onboard(which says a lot for the cruise line). The personal service was a plus, since it was easy to get to know the crew and they were excellent. The hotel manager was ...

Great lobster feast cruise

We wanted to see the Islands of Nantucket and Martha's vineyard, and it was a lobster bake cruise. The food was amazing, with an authentic lobster bake in the sand. This was my first cruise, and I enjoyed getting to know all of the 91 passengers. The small boat cruising is the only way to go. My husband and I have booked another small boat cruise to Alaska for next August. That will be on a ...

Wanted to see the New England island but because on the weather did not make it to two of the islands. The small ship allowed for personal service by the crew to all on board. we where able to meet many new friends as we where able to dine together and travel on the day tours. The captain and first mate were very professional and offered additional information about the ship and tour activities. ...
