We were pleased with the visits and activities, ship’s airy feeling and staff . Activities were well organized and tour directors very knowledgeable . It’s a very well designed ship . Food taste was so so . Be warned that Egyptian food is very large in quantity, we were given to choose 1/2 or whole of the main dish. We feel very comfortable in the public places.
Our biggest complaint -There ...
We chose the cruise because we were interested in the history of Egypt and especially the times of the Pharaohs.
The entire package was 11 days with 7 of the days aboard the Viking Ra; a small river craft with an excellent crew.
We enjoyed the briefings from the two Egyptologists on board as well as their daily guiding experiences. The chef on board the Ra was excellent as was the dining ...
We started this cruise in Cairo and stayed at the Sheraton. It was a great hotel well located, the rooms were beautiful . The breakfast buffet was enormous and had everything you could have wanted. The tours in Cairo were great the museum and of course the Pyramids were outstanding mainly due to our fantastic Egyptologist. We then flew to Luxor to start our cruise. We were on a small boat of only ...
The itinerary was packed, always something new and exciting to see. The ship was beautifully laid out, felt spacious and welcoming, food was delicious and service was incredible. The spirits package produced a lot of confusion though. After we arrived onboard we were told that anyone who booked their spirits package after a specific date could no longer be included on the package. It was up to us ...
I chose this cruise because I figured Viking would be a safe option to see Egypt.
There were many great things about the cruise - The sights were wonderful. All free excursions were worthwhile. Paid excursions not so wonderful. Had a light show one - definitely not worth it. Friends said bazaar option was not worth it either - too crowded and pushy vendors.... Viking used various methods of ...
This was my first Viking cruise experience. Many if not most of the passengers were repeat Viking customers and every single one said this was "not up to Viking standards". The ship was quite lovely and comfortable and the senior staff were so gracious and helpful. The room stewards and dining room wait staff however apparently are new and need more experience to come up to the service and ...
I wanted to see all the history in Egypt plus an extension to Petra in Jordan. I was somewhat disappointed with this Viking cruise in that it seemed to be rush, rush, rush. We landed in Cairo and spent 3 days in a hotel. Then we flew to Luxor to board our ship. We flew on an excursion to Aswan. We flew back to Cairo. There was a lot of unpacking and repacking.
Also, the service was a bit ...
We chose this cruise as it was our 25th anniversary and we wanted it to be very special. The ship is brand new and it was sparkling clean. The crew and staff on board were extremely nice, hard working, and very pleasant. The food on board was really good and plentiful. Unlike other cruise ships this is not a feeding frenzy, meals are served 3 times a day (which we really liked) but there is ...
We booked this cruise to go in early 2020, but then COVID hit and it was postponed. I think it was postponed 4 times and the final delay was because the ship was not built yet; a large part because of COVID. The ship was beautiful and well decorated. The restaurant was very nice; however, it quickly became apparent that the staff had not been trained in serving wine. I had a difficult time ...
My husband and I just completed the Uniworld “Splendors of Egypt & The Nile” twelve-day cruise/tour of Egypt. I would like to elaborate on our experience, which was for the most part very positive.
EGYPTOLOGIST
I’ll start with the most important element of this trip, our Egyptologist. His performance was crucial to the success of the trip. Without a qualified guide the journey would ...
