We hadn’t been to South America so we decided to cruise with Viking. We added the pre-cruise package to Buenos Aires which was very nice! Wonderful hotel (Hilton) . I would highly recommend adding these pre-cruise days. We had wonderful weather for the most part on the cruise. Lots of sun. The ship was lovely. The food was good, but not the best beef. The beef (steaks) were tough. Great ...

Great itinerary, beautiful landscapes! Cruise service personnel was amazing, friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive to our desires and needs. Accommodations on board and land excellent. Nice food selection and presentation. Very good on-board entertainment, very talented singers, tango dancers shows, the pianist shows. Very informative and interesting lectures. Infinity ...

I first saw this itinerary back in the Fall of 2019 and I loved it. Then came the pandemic and I tried to do this 3/20, 11,20 and 3/21 and all wre cancelled after I had booked and rebooked. Finally the 11/21 sailing was set to go and about 2 or 3 weeks prior, the itinerary was changed. After 2 years of waiting I was not going to settle for the revised schedule so I called and cancelled that trip. ...

Viking handles unexpected problems well

First let me say, we always choose Viking. The crew is professional, friendly, and carry out their duties exceptionally. The ship is spotless from top to bottom. The food is very good to excellent. When there is a glitch, it is remedied as well as possible as quickly as possible. This cruise, for me, was about the penguins! Travelling in the time of CoVid, however, presented some ...

Great crew, ship and very respectable food

The crew at all levels where charming and professional and made us feel genuinely valued. Cabin, ship layout and facilities were, for us, an ideal balance as were the passenger numbers. Food, although not of Michelin standards was in our view, more enjoyable and the options satisfactory. The negatives are minor in the context of the cruise but could easily be corrected:- Guests repeatedly felt ...

As only our second cruise, South America wasn't high on our "must see" list. But we were invited to go with lifelong friends and we're glad we did. We were very impressed with the outstanding Viking service and dining experiences, as well as the ship itself and its many amenities. We had heard stories of rough seas, but Jupiter handled everything with amazing stability. I am prone to motion ...

From Buenos Aires to Santiago on Board the Viking "Jupiter"

Ever since I studied South America in the 7th Grade, I have wanted to visit this continent, and especially Chile and Santiago. So we finally went! the Viking "Jupiter" was a beautiful, new ship, and the Planetarium on the upper deck made it especially interesting, as did the two NASA scientist/astronaut who gave enrichment talks. My husband and I spent a few days on our own prior to the ...

Love Viking but South America lacks high quality port visits like Europe

On the positive side, the Viking Ocean ship was great and a nice size, only about 800 passengers. But it had high quality entertainment, great enrichment lectures, a great fitness area, and super public spaces. The food, like the river cruises, was great, maybe even better than the Viking Long Ship in Europe. Service in all areas was superb, especially guest services, which I used a lot to get ...

GENERALLY GOOD BUT GETS A TAD LONG

Booked this trip to see and navigate Cape Horn. Stopping at the Falklands was an added bonus and the best part of the trip. Embarkation experience was somewhat stressful. Clearing immigration in Buenos Aires took about two hours (not Viking's responsibility though) due to long lines. After that, someone had picked up my wife's suitcase by mistake. Fortunately it was another Viking cruiser and ...

Viking Jupiter was a beautiful ship. Exquisite in every detail of the ship. Our cabin was excellent. We received an upgrade however would still have preferred our original booked cabin. Our cabin attendants were excellent. Very attentive and gracious at all times. Took care of us perfectly. Dining in World Cafe most meals and days was good however the dining room attendants did not seem quite ...
