Really excellent ship with wonderful crew

Review for a South America Cruise on Azamara Quest

There were 591 on this cruise (ship accommodates about 675) with a crew of about 400. This is considered an upscale line and ship and it is. The ship and crew did a fine job. The food was excellent and much better than most of their competitors, but they could use some menu additions and modifications. We love azamara and love the quest and you will too. This ship was apparently overhauled about ...

Bus crash in Rio

Review for a South America Cruise on Azamara Quest

We wanted to see parts of South America. We enjoyed the food and service. The excursions were pricey so we did most touring on our own in ports. In Ponte Del Este, we obtained a private driver and toured the whole area including a visit to casa Pueblo, which was amazing. We took the ship’s excursion to see Christ the Redeemer and the beaches. On the way back to the ship. The bus driver lost ...

Better than expected

Review for a South America Cruise on Azamara Quest

My expectations for this cruise were very low based on the terrible Azamara website, incorrect embarkation directions and poor pre-trip customer service from the "home" office. I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent crew, captain and cabin. On this cruise we went from Buenos Aires to Rio for two nights of Carnaval. The Quest was the only cruise ship that docked in Rio for two nights of ...

We were lucky with the weather but itinerary was changed

Review for a South America Cruise on Norwegian Star

The first time I booked this cruise 2 years ago it was canceled. This time the cruise went but the itinerary was suddenly changed. People from remote parts of the world had a long journey to Argentina mostly to see Antarctica, but instead of 2 full days in Antarctica, we had only 2 hours and saw 2 islands from a distance. It was a big disappointment for many of us. As we understood the only reason ...

Food quality

This is our 2nd Azamara in 2 months. Previous Onward Med. Was exactly the same food experience. In Windows Cafe very ordinary buffet type food offering. Unappetizing display with partly full serving dishes in reach until empty when replaced by the full one behind out of reach . Resembling a school canteen. Discovery main restaurant has very well organised impeccable service by numerous ...

Antarctica! A dream destination!!

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Sapphire Princess

The Sapphire Princess is in very good shape for an “older” ship. Sure, there were some stains on carpets and chips on tile, but on a whole I was very impressed. We enjoyed the fact that this Princess ship still maintains a full wide wrap-around Promenade deck (with only the need to go up and down a flight at the bow.) Embarkation: the worst ever. Princess was not prepared for this, although ...

Trip of a lifetime

Review for a South America Cruise on Oosterdam

Our cruise through South America to Antarctica exceeded our expectations. Where do we start? The service on the ship was outstanding as was the food in the main dining room and the Lido deck. We got off to a rough start when we discovered our room was directly below the Rolling Stones Lounge, but the staff kindly moved us to a room with a balcony from which we could admire the icebergs in ...

Horrible internet, and coffee!

Holland America's Navigator is a poor Joke. HAL internet is like dial-up on a party line. Painfully slow, many sites won't load, not talking YouTube or games, you can barely get basic emails. If there's an attachment forget it. I wasn't even able to view my home wifi thermostat on board. Yet on shore literally just walking thru Visitors Center using free wifi I could view and adjust my temperature ...

Bucket List Cruise

Review for a South America Cruise on Sapphire Princess

This was a bucket list trip for me. We embarked in Buenos Aires and took it all the way to Los Angeles, around Cape Horn. The scenery around Cape Horn is truly spectacular. The cruise was 32 days. Even though my wife and I are in our early 70s, I think we were probably younger than the average passenger on the ship. There was one family that had two children. If there were other children ...

Very relaxing

Review for a South America Cruise on Sapphire Princess

We were on the 32 day "Andes and Cape Horn Grand Adventure" cruise around S. America. It was a very enjoyable cruise with a relaxed pace. Many of the port stops are at commercial ports/cities with not a lot to see; you have to travel to see the main cities/sites. Unfortunately, this was not communicated and understood. The ship is due to go in to drydock for maintenance shortly after the cruise ...
