Friends had recommended this particular cruise. It was our first Viking and river cruise experience.
The cabin (Explorer Suite) was wonderful. As was the food. But it was just too cold to make use of the sun deck.
Budapest and Vienna were great. Although we are not into classical music, we highly recommend the Vienna concert. It was an excursion highlight. As, of course, all of the Christmas ...
After trying and loving Viking ocean cruises, my spouse and I decided to try a river cruise. The experience was very nice. The pre-excursion prior to boarding the ship, the port excursions (both included and optional), cuisine, cabins, dining room, lounge, entertainment, upper deck and crew were very good. The cruise director was outstanding. Although low water levels required us to be transported ...
Having never been to Europe except for the UK my wife and I decided to book this cruise when asked to join brother and his wife and two other mutual friends. Everything about the cruise was over the top. Viking's staff is the absolute best we have ever encountered. The entire staff from the housekeepers to the bartenders to the servers in the restaurant know your name and your ...
The (Viking) Grand European Tour is a Great Adventure. We had a Veranda Suite - the Queen Bed was comfortable (actually seemed a bit large for a Q-size). The size of the 2-room suite was ample - I wouldn't have wanted to be in one of the smaller state-rooms for the 14-day length of this trip. The crew/staff on the ship were excellent - attentive, very courteous, and many of them tried very hard ...
Grand Tour of Europe. Donna and I choose this trip for 2 reasons. November was our 50th Wedding Anniversary and we wanted to do something special. Donna never travel outside of N. Americn before. The other reason was that when I was in the Army I was station at Nuremberg West Germany for 2 years and wanted to see what changed and what didn't. The Army left Merrial Barracks (the old SS Baracks). ...
After reviewing several options we opted to book on Viking for the Grand European Tour. We also opted for the pre-cruise extension in Amsterdam and the post-cruise extension in Prague. Our trip was amazing from start to finish. Non-stop air out and back. We were met by a Viking agent immediately coming out of customs who knew our names. Hotel accommodations were amazing and the attention from ...
This was our first river tour and it exceeded our expectations. We were on the Viking Tir, not the Vali. It was a last minute change. We booked a French balcony room and it was very comfortable. The menu choices were varied and the food was delicious. Our Program Director, Stephen Guy, went above and beyond to ensure that our excursions were timely and fun. We were very pleased with the ...
I chose the Grand European River Cruise for a few reasons.
1. I figured if I was going to spend all that money on airfare, I wanted to see as much as possible.
2. My husband had done extensive research on different cruise lines, and Viking was his choice. So when he passed away before we could go, I trusted his choice.
3. They don't allow anyone under 18.
I didn't want to have to put ...
This was our first Viking cruise & have already booked another one. The staff was very friendly, professional, and extremely helpful. Any question, need, big or small was handled. They spoiled us! Excursions were all great enhancements to the trip and were well organized. The tour manager was like the "energizer bunny"; he was everywhere. Most of the guides were very personable and ...
The cabins are larger than I expected and are very comfortable. The services onboard are excellent and the crew goes out of their way to please travelers. The food was exceptional in both portion, quality, and diversity. The excursions were great and we tried to go on as many as possible. The guides and curators provided a wealth of knowledge and depth to the experiences while off the ship ...
