Durnstein. Delightful Village that was an alternative port of call. Spent a lovely afternoon and even attended a craft fair where my daughter got some hand dyed yarn! Also had a delicious pint and some wild mushroom soup!

Our first river cruise; wife and I, and 2 grown girls wanted to see some of Europe and thought a river cruise was a good way to do it. Booked 1 of 2 suites for ourselves and I standard balcony room for kids. I booked with Viking because told "the best" and seemed to have good overall reviews. Expensive. Booked the airfare with Viking travel; excellent value and flexibility (started with a few ...

Don't mean to sound negative, but didn't have the fantastic experience so many others report. Airport pickup at Budapest went well, as did the pre-cruise experience, despite poor weather. Guide for Jewish Budapest one of the best on entire trip. However ... Had no lunch on embarkation day as it was supposed to be provided on board. We were a bit late arriving at the dock, so nothing available ...

Having been on two previous Viking cruises (one river, one ocean), we knew the high standards we could expect from Viking. We traveled with another couple and had adjacent rooms near the front of the boat. Our rooms were comfortable and our balcony provided a lovely vantage point from which to watch the scenic villages on warm cruising days. Our room was kept clean and tidied up during the day. ...

We had been on Viking once before in China and loved the experience. The stops were great, the food was good, and the crew was extremely helpful. The cabin we had was clean and the cabin steward was attentive to our needs. The cruise director was a Hoot and gave us both informed about coming attractions but also sang like a bird. For us, food service is acceptable. We traveled with a picky ...

It was recommended by several friends that had already taken it. It was important for us that it was a small cruise oriented to more mature people, navigated on a river, offered excursions in every Port, and everything was practically included. It was easy making reservations and getting more detailed information from the very professional travel agent from Viking. The ship was elegantly set, ...

I always wanted to try a river cruise, and this cruise worked into my busy scheduled.Viking handled all the pre, post, cruise and air. All I had to do was show up. We booked a veranda suite and couldnt be happier. I was traveling with my widowed aunt, so having a living room, a balcony, and separate bedroom made this trip much more pleasurable. Booking a suite comes with nice perks, fresh ...

Our First But Not Last Viking Cruise

It's impossible to describe the many excellent things on this cruise, the cabin, the crew, the entertainment each night was very good, the food was too good, and the tours were unbelievable too. We opted for the pre-cruise extra days in Budapest. Our hotel was marvelous and right in the middle of everything we wanted to see. All were a short walk away. The restaurants in the hotel and in the ...

I wanted to see a snapshot of Europe in order to pick a country to go back to and spend more time. This cruise covered so many places that gave me an over view of Europe that it more than fulfilled my needs. The cabin was perfect with the slider so I could view the life on the river - water fowl, homes and towns. The dining was certainly adequate and knowing that the most gourmet foods are ...

It was our first Viking cruise. We wanted to try out Viking so we picked this cruise because of length and places we had never been. We had a wonderful time. Everything was what our friends told us it would be. Service was super even when we were delayed for a day. The cabin was nice and clean. Bed was comfortable, TV worked well and closet space was adequate. Meals were very tasty and the ...

Cruising the Danube River was something on my wife's bucket list. What an incredible journey it turned out to be. Starting in Budapest, we explored the city on our own before setting sail as well as taking the cruise provided tour. The included tours were very good and provided many highlights of all the ports we docked in. We took advantage of all that were offered and added several on our own. ...
