It was nice, but the ocean cruises are much more luxurious

I wanted to see Vienna & Budapest, so I got that accomplished. Frankly, though, I think that I would've preferred to simply rent a car and drive to these places for a whole lot less money. The ship was basically a floating hotel - there isn't much in the way of amenities on the ship other than a restaurant & lounge (which wasn't really much different than the restaurant). The piano player got ...

My wife and I have done numerous ocean cruises, including two with Viking, but this was our first river cruise. Viking did not disappoint. We chose Viking, because of its ability to provide an encompassing service with airfare, transfers, extensions and tours in a casino and kid free environment. Airfare and transfers were seamlessly handled. We used Viking’s Air Plus service to make early ...

The overall cruise was excellent. Everything was first class from the cabins, meals and service It was also very nice in that meals and activities on board were not formal. We tried to sit at the same section for dinner every night as our waiter was outstanding. We got personnel attention from him. The only drawback to the trip was the pre and extended cruise excursions which were not as well ...

Just finished Viking Romantic Danube cruise. First time this Viking ship sailed, without interruption, from Nuremberg to Budapest. Only, maybe, the second week that any Viking ship made the cruise end-to-end without a ship swap. The low water levels on both the Rhine and Danube will likely continue into 2019 season (begins in March). The cruise, when uninterrupted like ours, was great. ...

Wanted to try a river cruise based on TV advertisements. This was my first river cruise and probably my last river cruise because of the cabin space. I enjoyed all the excursions which were very educational despite even though it was a holiday so some places were not available to tour, the meals was great, and staff was friendly and went above and beyond to make it an enjoyable experience and I ...

We lived in Germany several years ago and had traveled to many places, but we had not traveled to Eastern European locations. Budapest was wonderful, so pretty, all lit up at night. We stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel until we boarded our Ship on Sunday. Viking had an overall tour of the city and we also had free time to explore. Right here I have to say that Viking does a great job ...

For our first cruise together, My Lady and I booked the Romantic Danube Cruise from Budapest to Nuremberg (August 20-27, 2017) on the Viking longboat, Atla. I paid $10,398 for the Veranda Suite and was assigned to Veranda Suite 316. THE GOOD - The ship, itself, is aesthetically well designed and appeared just as presented in the Viking advertisements and virtual ship tours. The food ranged ...

Viking Atla. Budapest to Nueremburg. Embark 4.30.17. Well designed contemporary river cruiser. Very clean and well appointed public spaces. Superior crew service from ships captain to bsu drivers. Professional and courteous without over stepping boundries. Matri 'd and primary waiter were exceptional. Seems to be a "clean" boat re virus control. Very well prepared entrees and buffet. ...

We started on the trip on the Jarl river boat because there was a problem with a river lock that kept our original boat the Alta from making it to our starting point. We were not happy to learn after day two that we would have to change ships part way through our river cruise. NO PROBLEM Viking did everything in there power to make it as easy a switch as they could. The problem was beyond ...

Great overall experience and very educational. Budapest is a wonderful city with many great outdoor cafes and restaurants. We visited many great cities along the Danube to include Vienna, Passau,Nurenberg and finally the October fest in Munich which did not disappoint. This was our 2nd Viking river cruise with the 1st being the Rhine river cruise from Amsterdam to Basel, Switzerland. We find ...
