"The one excursion (Prague by Night) they told us was a walking tour so we did not go, but later found out from another guest that it was a bus tour.Later we found out from another guest that there was a mass at 11:30 which we could have attended instead and that our 9:00 excursion ended right in front of the church, so we could easily have done both...."Read More

1-10 of 69 Budapest to Europe - River Cruise Viking Aegir Reviews
We were celebrating our 40th anniversary and wanted to commemorate it with a special trip. So, where/how do we even start?
First, I seldom take the time to write reviews, much less lengthy ones. This trip, and Viking, made an indelible impression on me, so I’m investing the time. Bottom Line: You should seriously consider this cruise trip and do it with Viking.
VIKING AEGIR ...
We were excited to travel the Danube River with our lifelong friends. From the moment we arrived we felt like royalty! The crew on our ship was top notch! We loved all the different stops and all the beautiful cities. Budapest was one of my favorites along with Vienna. In each port we tried the local beers and food which was so delicious. Each port we did at least one excursion, I especially liked ...
To relax and have some time to ourselves. The river cruise on the Danube fit the bill perfectly. We needed to get away and see some of the world that was totally new and different. Living in Texas, if something is a couple of centuries old it’s considered history. It was a new experience to walk through true history so well preserved. The included tours were a good introduction to each area we ...
We had never been on an organized tour and cruise, although we had traveled extensively, we had never done a cruise or used tour guides. We were pleased with Viking's attention to detail. Everything was taken care of with people ensuring we made all the tours and transfers. We didn't want to go on an ocean cruise with thousands of people stuffed in a big floating hotel. With only about 200 ...
Heard from previous passengers that Viking Cruises were second to none. Decided to book the cruise along with several tours that Viking offered. All tours were conducted by locals who were well versed in local culture, history, and background of the area. We took advantage of the pre-cruise excursions in Budapest, and the post cruise excursions in Prague. The timing of everything, from dining, ...
The cruise was well organized. Lots of excursions. We stayed mostly with the walking tours and spent our free time roaming the beautiful towns and cities where we landed. We especially enjoyed the activities coordinator’s insights as he previewed the next day’s port of call.
Food was always abundant, well prepared, and well presented by a friendly wait staff. There were regional selections ...
Our initiation into the world of river cruising was an excellent one. We could not have been more impressed with the organization on the Viking ship, the quality of the food and drink, and of course the pleasantness of the staff. Serving local dishes added to the "flavor" of the experience and we took advantage of those offerings. We would definitely consider another cruise of this ...
In 2020 we booked the Danube Waltz Oberammergau Passion Play cruise. Covid hit and we cancelled for a full refund.
In 2022 we decided to try again so we re-booked the same cruise, Passau to Budapest. The land portion - Munich, Oberammergau Passion Play, Salzburg - was fantastic. We boarded our ship in Passau. The next morning one of us tested positive for Covid so Viking put us in a quarantine ...
We have sailed with Viking before and love the food, wine, excursions and amenities. The service on our ship was outstanding and all the staff on the ship was first rate, from the waiters to the housekeeping. The food and wine was absolutely delicious! They are very organized and make everything exciting, easy and fun. The only person on the ship that we were not pleased with was the man at ...
We had never been to Germany or Austria, Hungary or the Netherlands. We wanted a longer cruise so we could experience as much of this part of the world as possible! My mother was born in Vienna so I was especially interested in that city! We had heard many wonderful things about Viking and always wanted to go on one of their cruises so we decided to book the cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam. It ...
