This was our 8th river cruise however the only three were in France on Uniworld and because the other cruises involved small ships there isn’t a good comparison (the Viking Vietnam was outstanding).
We chose this because we had never been in Bulgaria or Romania and like wine! Except for Hungary our earlier experiences were in Yugoslavia in the 70’s so nice to see what had changed.

We chose this short cruise as a taster for river cruising having spent many outstanding holidays on ocean cruises. The crew were excellent. However, the Scenic Ruby built in 2009 and updated in 2019 is at best a 4 star ship. We chose this cruise as it would take us to places we have not been too, or places we would have never gone too. The scenery from the ship was mostly farmland and forest, but once on land there were many wonderful things to see. Food was very good, and the portions were smaller so you never left the table stuffed.

We choose this particular ship and date because of the itinerary and it did not disappoint. The ports and scenery while cruising were incredible. We thoroughly enjoyed every stop on our journey and highlights were the two “scenic cruising” afternoons. Having great weather for the duration was a bonus.

I wanted to see Budapest and Vienna but I ended up enjoying the smaller cities along the way. our ship, which was supposed to be a year old was swapped for a ship that was over 10 years old. We were stranded on shore two times because of problems with the ship. I did not know how exhausting the touring would be, especially in 90 degree heat.

Not quite what they sell. The upgrade to the full slider window for an extra $1500 (base for a solo fee was $6000) for 7 nights was pretty much worthless. For 5 nights we were parked 3 deep with other ships, so you could not keep your curtain open unless you wanted the other boat to see you.

Our suite was beautiful !
We had the royal suite.
Our butlers were the best I have ever had.
The crew was fun and so nice.
However......
I was absolutely digusted by the food
It was like eating in a cafeteria.
Poor quality.
My son got food poisoning and was ill for 5 days of the 7.
No one cared or said sorry or looked into this.

The Romantic Danube was the name of the cruise, that's the 1st reason we decided to take this cruise. Then the ports of call were the second reason. The staff was great. The food was great. The tours were great. The room was good except for the temperature being either freezing or burning alive hot and water pooling on the balcony (no drain hole on edge).
