We had sailed on Avalon 8 years ago and since they have upgraded their food to a A from a B+ i We had a suite which was huge for a River Boat but even the regular rooms had a set up that made you feel like you were out on a balcony the entire time. Ship, room, food, tours, ports, and staff were all excellent. I really enjoyed the wine tasting. The lady who did it was funny and knowledgeable. This was our second cruise with Avalon and they met our very high expectations again. We went from Budapest to Passau, a one week cruise.
The food is fabulous, beautifully presented and the portions were very sensible. Self-service buffet at lunch and breakfast for as much as you wanted or as little! They also offer cooked to order options.

Our first choice was Scenic River Cruises, we went on an excellent cruise with them last time. Scenic were booked on the dates we wanted this time, so Avalon was recommended to us.
It compared very well. Avalon staff were a bit more relaxed. The ship was pristine & the cleaners were always sterilising the ship.

The ship is beautiful and so well kept. We never felt like it was too crowded or noisy, even when the Panorama lounge was full.
