We had previously cruised on Oceana and loved it. We chose Britannia as we could only travel in August and we liked the ports of call in the med.
We had a balcony cabin on deck 12 midship.
The cabin was modern and equipped with all we needed.
Our cabin steward was very polite although he didn’t clean as I thought he should have, eg he never hoovered once in 14 days.
Food was excellent ...
There's a lot of cruising snobbery with the judging different "classes" of passengers so here's the deal, P&O are clever enough to cater for a broad market, love it or pay more and go Seabourn!! The joy of a big ship is that you can avoid the areas which aren't to your liking and if you feel that way inclined the "types" you might want to avoid are away from the areas you probably enjoy.
Yes, ...
First the good points of our cruise. We feel there has been a big improvement in the quality and variation of the food on Britannia, we cruised with P & O twice last year on Azura & Ventura and without doubt the food this time was improved. It was of good quality and varied even in the Buffett. The Buffett area is also a much better design than on other P & O ships which are too ‘tight’ and get ...
Recommended. Sunbeds were reserved round all pools. Three small smoking areas with no sunbeds only chairs one under cover cold windy & dark with sunny tables that were no smoking?
Hidden extras. Different prices in bars.
Norovirus on ship advised use own toilets meaning having to wait for overcrowded lifts as no stairs run through middle of ship??
Penisular breakfast cold toast brought ...
Chose this cruise because of the ports and the time of year. First three days were excellent then the Norovirus outbreak god out of hand and pools were emptied, buffet was closed, all venues on the ship were single entry with staff enforcing the use of hand sanitisers. Loungers were put away mid afternoon to scrub the decks. Handrails and lift buttons could not be touched. Menus, condiments, etc ...
Having read reviews, we were a little apprehensive about this cruise (2 weeks around the Med) however it was without any major issues.
Most of the comments I found to be untrue on this cruise....there was a great deal of food choice, there was plenty of it, the tables were cleared quickly and the food areas were all kept clean.
We had upgraded to a superior deluxe balcony cabin and this was ...
This was our second trip aboard the Britannia and chose the ship rather than the destinations because we loved or first cruise on her. She is a fantastic ship with all the modern facilities you would expect from a floating hotel.
My wife and I love the entertainment on board and enjoyed some very professional acts that kept us laughing and dancing for most of the trip.
We also love good food ...
We wanted to visit Seville (via Cadiz) Barcelona, Pisa & Florence ( via Livorno ) and Rome.
This cruise B912 , gave us all those options and we were able to celebrate My Wife’s 70 on board.
Priority boarding with check in on line was very smooth in Southampton, on board at a champagne lunch within 20 minutes. In our balcony cabin with suitcases delivered by 14.45pm. We chose Freedom Dining, ...
Positives... arriving at Southampton it was easy to embark as we had already checked in online no waiting straight on board.
Our cabin steward introduced herself (Rona) when we were able to get into our cabin, she was excellent very friendly & helpful.
The cabin was clean and fairly spacious with plenty of room for our clothes.
We had booked freedom dining and found it easy to get a ...
Having been on the boat exactly a year prior when it was like a busman's holiday for the rescue services and the hygiene and couldn't give a monkeys attitude of the overwhelming majority of the staff was an utter disgrace, we put it down to leaving on Fri 13th and them on their last cruise before leave.
The ship itself is beautiful, not worthy of the clowns running it!
So to this year, the ...
