We are regular cruisers, we shared this cruise with friends. Japan is always difficult to access and using the cruise option gives comfortable access to the west coast which most tours avoid. we enjoy the process of cruising as much as the destinations. We had been on the Sea Princess only three weeks before on a last minute cruise and we knew what to expect. The furniture in all but the two recently renovated areas is very tired. The cushioning in all other chairs is worn out, carpets are worn, the pool areas are in dire need of a full re-fit and the Vista lounge leaked every day. In our room, we had airconditioning faults, rotten curtains, a ceiling leak outside, the interior room opposite had major floods, the w.c. backed up probably 7 or 8 times requiring remediation. The in room wifi was slow and often did not work at all and it was cut off very early on the last morning. The television system suffered many outs, the ship navigation channel was down for the eight cruising days home. Issues in the kitchen saw meals often delivered luke warm and the meal variety in the dining rooms was extremely limited for a seven week cruise. The saving grace in all this was the staff who soldiered on valliantly even while trying to make some sense of the silly Princess policy of marshalling Princess tour groups on board. Princess just simply not get it. We are adults, let us off the ship with instructions as to where and when to meet for our coaches. This way we can spend some time at the portside shops and enjoy the welcome ceremonies and so on instead of being cooped up for an hour or more in the theatre. Hopefully, one day they might get it? I am hoping that Princess will pass all three of this age and class of ship, Sun, Sea and Dawn, to P.& O. as soon as possible, they are not up to scratch and require a long time in dry dock for a TOTAL refit. I have completed 15 cruises with Princess but this is the worst bed I Have ever slept on whilst on a cruise ship. The Customer services Manager had another mattress placed on the bed to replace the very old one which was on the bed. It was not much better and the base was very squeaky. The only way to make the bed able to be slept on a board was placed under the mattress and the spring base sprayed with WD40 to stop the squeaking. It was dreadful. The entertainment was okay but it would seem that Princess are cutting staff and the cruise Directors staff were working extremely hard trying to keep passengers busy on the many sea days. The ship is getting very old and we noticed many pipes leaking on deck 7. There were many pipes bursting in some of he cabins. Our cabin had cold water for 1 1/2 days then it was so hot it almost scolded us. The air conditioning was also very cold in some areas and quite warm in other areas. Dining room staff were excellent as was the food but I noticed Princess have a shorter menu most meals. Read Less

We chose this cruise mainly to visit China and Japan. Breakdowns with a thruster meant our China time was mostly in the dark. The Sea Princess is a tired old ship with leaky air conditioning, poor internet and cabin presentation. Many of the common areas have worn out furniture. Princess cares less about value for money excursions and charges whatever they wish for beverages. Try looking at the price of beverage packages on furore cruises that you have booked. They increase them for every cruise even though worldwide inflation is zero or minus. They are experiencing diminished fuel costs as well yet they keep increasing prices. We are treated as though we are travelling wallets. They appear incapable of providing an expenditure based rewards scheme which would be way better than Princess Circle. Management are very slow to respond or adapt to changes in consumer demands. We experienced many issues with organisation, meal delivery, breakdowns, and coordination of activities. All were poorly responded to and it seems that on,board staff care less. The face to face room attendants, bar staff, wait staff and so on always provided the best that they could but it seems that they were working under very heavy constraints. Overseeing staff are superfluous. They appeared to over react to any situation, yet offered scant real resolution. Our most strident criticism is reserved for the excursions that were offered. We paid excessive prices for every single one, yet many were untried and certainly not coordinated with any professional standards being applied. Read Less
