The ship is very nice and the staff (waiters, bartenders, stewards) were all great, but the ship is managed terribly. Embarkation was bad and we got no direction where to go other than a security guard yelling at me in Italian about something I couldn't understand. We figured out that our cards showed the wrong drink package on the second day, we had asked several staff about it and we were told it was fine. We went to the front desk once and they said it was fine. Went back again and they acknowledged it was wrong and fixed it, when I asked for a partial refund for the 2 days it was wrong the front desk blamed me for not finding it sooner and for asking the wrong people about it. When I said I asked the front desk the girl told me I should only ask her about it and not trust anything any other staff tells me. She then said I would get no refund since it was my fault. After another argument I walked away and complained to someone else. A few days later they finally agreed to give me a credit for the error. Overall just bad customer service. The staff in the excursion office was not helpful. We wanted to go to a beach and their advice was to go to this island at one port. We get there and take a look, there was no beach on that island and everything on it was closed. A cabbie wound up taking us to. Nice beach a few miles away. Pool and hot tubs were cold and always full of kidl. The staff seemed to avoid English speakers so it was hard to get a drink or ask a question. Worst part of the trip was the disembarking. Very unorganized. Was told to go to a lounge and they would dismiss us in an orderly fashion. What they did was walk in and tell everyone to go so it was a mob to try to get out at once and tool forever. Then we were told the shuttle would drop us in the city center where we could catch a cab or bus. We were actually dropped off just outside the gate to the port where there were no cabs and we had to drag our big bags for 20 mins on bad streets to the city center. Even locals were mad about were they dropped us at. Overall I would not cruise MSC again. Like I said good ship, some staff is nice but information is not good and everything is poorly managed. Also they say its English speaking, not really true you must know some Italian if you want get around the boat or ask questions. Read Less

This cruise company is an unprofessional, chaotic cruise line alongside with very rude, unhelpful, arrogant 'italian' staff who need to be re-trained and reminded who are the customers. I have never in my life witnessed such bad service that this cruise company deploys. I have been on many cruises and this is the worse ever. They advertise that they want to encourage english, americans and canadians onto their cruises but someone high up needs to go onto either P&O, Princess, NCL, Royal Carribean cruises and learn how to give people a good experience. Unfortunately this cruise line does not give the passenger a good experience. I have filled in their questionnaire they sent pointing out problems but have not received anything back from them which indicates that they are not really interested in what people have to say. 1. After asking several times, different staff the question 'where can we get soya milk from' we were told that we had to go the deck 5 and get some, even if you wanted milk with your breakfast cereal from the buffet which was on deck 13. They expected you to take your breakfast cereal dish down to deck 5, pour on your milk and then return to deck 13 to eat your breakfast. This was also the case in the restaurant. 2. Wasn't sure whether you were being served at the bar as there was no eye contact or acknowledgement whether the bar staff had understood your request for a drink, or the fact that they were serving you. 3. We spoken to a Canadian couple who asked for two coffees after seeing the people before them in a queue being served coffee. When it was their turn the bar tender told them that they did not serve coffee at that bar. 4. The life jacket drill was chaotic. There was no organisation at all. Nobody knew or could hear who was demonstrating the life jacket procedure. 5. Staff in the buffet area rolling their eyes when you asked for more cutlery, mugs and plates when the area had run out. Waiters expecting you to move out of their way to let them pass. 6. We couldn't get onto the ship because of staff trying to sell drink packages and blocking the entrance, so we had to literally push our way through which wasn't very pleasant. 7. The disembarking was a nightmare. It was very well explained by the young lady the day before but went to complete pot on the actual day. Nobody could understand what was being said over the tannoy because of people chatting. In our lounge the young lady was speaking on her microphone but carried out talking when the gentleman gave an announcement over the ships tannoy. (That was very confusing) We have been on plenty of cruises and regard ourselves as polite, easy going people but this cruise was the worse we have ever been on and MSC clearly are not interested in negative comments (constructive criticism) to improve their performance. As I said before someone needs to go onto other cruises and come back with ideas and how things can be improved. We understood that this cruise would be Italian dominant and have holidayed in Italy many times, but this just took the biscuit. All in all it was a dreadful experience. I hope this review helps you. All meals were Luke warm in the buffet area and main restaurants. There was no variety in the food offered. It was the same everyday. No tea and coffee facilities in the cabin or offered in the waitress service restaurants. The balcony rcabin was lovely but the bed linen was itchy even though we asked for it to be changed a few times. I would not recommend this ship. The ship was quite rocky on the way back and a feeling of severe nausea was suffered for 2 hours. The ports of call were lovely. The receptionists were very unhelpful when we tried to arrange transfer from the port to the airport. They said they had closed their offer and there were not any spaces left!! Even though we ask 3 days before departure. I would not recommend any of the MSC ships as we had such a bad experience with this one. Even writing to MSC they haven’t even replied to our complaint! I chose this cruise because I was enticed by the range of places we would visit; Greece. Montenegro and a city in Italy. I was concerned that short amount of time in places such as Montenegro would mean I’d be left dissapointed but actually was a good balance of time at sea and time in port. Excursions; as always paid a pretty penny for excursions including tour of santorini, the Acropolis and Olympia. I have to say, I thought the excursions were excellent. Again enough time in places without feeling rushed, good informative guides and well organised. They weren’t cheap but were relatively good value for money in this instance. Cabin; as you expect, had a balcony, was a good size room, shower had good water pressure. Amenities do not include kettle and tea like it would on p&o but I survived. Always cleaned in the morning and so on. Turn down service. Service: hit and miss. I thought service was quite slow and not very attentive. I don’t think it was a language barrier. I just don’t think most of the staff really cared. It was a notable comparison between p&o where the service is more ‘on the ball’. You would only get offered a drink once at the beginning of the meal. Probably because we bought the drinks package. Food; clearly aimed towards Mediterranean market, lots of sea food and less choice for vegetarians compared to p&o where I could have a whole host of vegetarian food. However, what I are was generally good and there was a range for meat eaters. Buffet was good with pizza, pasta, rolls, salad and lovely fresh fruit. You certainly wouldn’t starve. Embarkation/disembarkation; not fun. Embarking from Marco Polo airport was a bit random and couldn’t see msc members very quickly. You also have to lug your bags from the airport, to the coach, back off and then towards another drop off in the ports. Disembarkation was worse, with us unceremoniously chucked off the boat at 11, and not being transferred to the airport until 3pm and told to just hang around in a bar (with two eight years...) or hang around outside. We managed to get to airport and just hang around there instead. But really this aspect needs to be reviewed. When I spoke to cruise members the day before to try and talk through the process and timings I was given no option. It would make more sense if they take your bags to airport and then offer a tender to st marks square for the whole day (rather than the two trips they offered beyond sensible times) However, despite my moans...would I go again? Yes. Read Less

This was the 1st time in MSC. We have been to 13 other cuises before with 5 different companies. MSC was the worst in our experience. We chose this cruise because of the date and itinerary (that was very good). The daily news (paper with day information) came at midnight!! we never could programme the next day before that. The vouchers for the excursions came only late at night the day before the excursion. This vouchers should be in our cabin the day we boarded the ship. The embarkation was very confused. No signs to indicate where we should go . We walked a lot looking for the entrance. The restaurants were overcrowded and short stuffed. The stuff were tired, not helpful and poorly trained. The buffet was always partially closed so there were long cues to get food. The food quality was poor, cheap and not tasty. The music was good but no bands . Only duos, mostly brazilian or latino. The shows had great performers and dancers, that in 6 shows, 5 were the same with different clothes. Only playbacks, no life music, no staging preparations -theater scenarios settings apart from lights. No available complimentary Water!!! No decaff coffee availability. Only if requested , after a long waiting time , sparingly (they brought me only 1 sachet!) The reception stuff looked tired and were not friendly. Read Less

Tell experiencias wth people Great new relationships with people. Magnificent experiences. Sensational places.es. Magnific!! the boat amazing the amount of diverse and attractive activities I thought that with teenagers he was going to get bored ... nothing further from reality. had a great time, making friends with kids from other countries, learning about other cultures. It is a way of knowing brushstrokes of other countries and new cities, in a comfortable way to always have the same bed and the suitcases and clothes always placed. To then know which cities it is worth to know more thoroughly on another next trip. the impeccable on-board service does not overwhelm you with anything, but they are always aware that they can offer or improve their services. The only thing they could check better is the theme of the drinks on board, especially the water in the comity. It should be always free take the form of stay that you take. Water is necessary and should be essential and free. I do not think I have to charge extra for her. In that they should change their policy. Read Less

We chose this cruise specifically because we wanted to go to a new port/destination everyday. We also wanted a smaller ship, as we aren't overly keen on massive crowds. We actually went on two back-to-back MSC Cruises, around each side of Italy. The embarkation procedure was super quick and efficient, and we were delighted with our two balcony rooms. The ship was beautifully clean, and the staff were lovely. I do think you 'get what you pay for', and I would not like to stay in a small interior cabin. The balcony room was spacious, and we loved the sliding glass doors to our deck. We spent many hours out there drinking cocktails and watching as we sailed in and out of new ports. The food was good - fresh, and good quality. Again, as we had upgraded to the 'Aurea' area (nicer rooms etc), we had our own dedicated restaurant for evening meals (silver service), but could still join the masses at the 24 hour buffet restaurant if we wanted. Our kids loved the buffet, and it was fantastic to be able to grab snacks at any time. We didn't spend much time in the very busy pool area - but we were there to see Europe, not lay on sun loungers. The port excursions were also very good. Very good value, and we always had excellent guides. The trips were very well organised, and well worth doing. Even if you did not want to do a guided excursion, it was made very easy to get on and off the boat, and there were transfers to all the major towns easily available. In short - this is a great way to see a lot of Europe in a very short time. We are very keen to go back, and would not hesitate to recommend MSC to anyone. Remember though - if you do the 'budget option' - you will get a budget experience. Read Less

I chose this cruise because I've always wanted to visit Venice and Santorini and this had both. It was also at least $1,000 less than RCI, so that sweetened the deal. The good : the cabin was clean, bright and comfortable, with soft bed linens and plenty of storage space. Our steward was very efficient and pleasant and the entertainment was very talented. They used the same people and set every night, which became a little tedious, but they worked well with what they had and I always left the show happy. Our dinner waiters were sweet and I thoroughly enjoyed nightly conversations with our dinner mates, all English speaking, which made it very easy. The excursions purchased through the ship were well organized, left on time and had wonderful English speaking guides. The bad: the food is not good. I was expecting the pasta to be stellar considering that this is an Italian cruise line, but it was hard and tasteless. The selection was average. I was excited with the Indian selection on the first day of the buffet, but this was never seen again. I know this because I went every night as dinner was not until 9.30 in the dining room and I could not eat that late. I didn't chose the late seating, but was assigned it. By the time you actually eat it's after 10, so I just had a dessert most nights. I saw little babies and children getting very fussy and parents get frazzled as they were exhausted eating that late. The food was often a little tasteless and disappointing. My husband enjoys seafood and he rarely came away sated. The ugly : check in was obnoxious. I showed my passport and cruise ticket 8 times and it took almost 2 hours to get on the ship. Once you enter we were greeted with a surly security guard , no smiles , no welcoming music. You can't even walk through the entrance without being accosted by a staff member trying to up sell you a drinks package. Usually they stand and smile and you approach them, but on this ship they were aggressive to the point of following you down the hall and when you said no, they continued to try to convince you that you were crazy not to spend stupid money on watered down booze. They may be working on commission because I have no other idea why they are like this. The staff could really benefit from the Disney charm school. It may not be their fault, but on other cruise lines I'm used to smiles, pleasantries and levity that was not evident on this ship. Our dinner mates were practically strong armed in to buying the "dinner upgrade" of prime rib or lobster one night. The lady said that they gave her the impression that if she did not buy it she would not have another option. When her meal came the meat was cold and she requested another plate. She had taken one bite out of it and it returned , the same piece f meat, bite and all overcooked and tough. I felt so bad for this lady as she had paid extra for a horrible meal. Read Less
