I chose this cruise because I was enticed by the range of places we would visit; Greece. Montenegro and a city in Italy. I was concerned that short amount of time in places such as Montenegro would mean I’d be left dissapointed but actually was a good balance of time at sea and time in port. Excursions; as always paid a pretty penny for excursions including tour of santorini, the Acropolis and Olympia. I have to say, I thought the excursions were excellent. Again enough time in places without feeling rushed, good informative guides and well organised. They weren’t cheap but were relatively good value for money in this instance. Cabin; as you expect, had a balcony, was a good size room, shower had good water pressure. Amenities do not include kettle and tea like it would on p&o but I survived. Always cleaned in the morning and so on. Turn down service. Service: hit and miss. I thought service was quite slow and not very attentive. I don’t think it was a language barrier. I just don’t think most of the staff really cared. It was a notable comparison between p&o where the service is more ‘on the ball’. You would only get offered a drink once at the beginning of the meal. Probably because we bought the drinks package. Food; clearly aimed towards Mediterranean market, lots of sea food and less choice for vegetarians compared to p&o where I could have a whole host of vegetarian food. However, what I are was generally good and there was a range for meat eaters. Buffet was good with pizza, pasta, rolls, salad and lovely fresh fruit. You certainly wouldn’t starve. Embarkation/disembarkation; not fun. Embarking from Marco Polo airport was a bit random and couldn’t see msc members very quickly. You also have to lug your bags from the airport, to the coach, back off and then towards another drop off in the ports. Disembarkation was worse, with us unceremoniously chucked off the boat at 11, and not being transferred to the airport until 3pm and told to just hang around in a bar (with two eight years...) or hang around outside. We managed to get to airport and just hang around there instead. But really this aspect needs to be reviewed. When I spoke to cruise members the day before to try and talk through the process and timings I was given no option. It would make more sense if they take your bags to airport and then offer a tender to st marks square for the whole day (rather than the two trips they offered beyond sensible times) However, despite my moans...would I go again? Yes. Read Less

We chose this cruise specifically because we wanted to go to a new port/destination everyday. We also wanted a smaller ship, as we aren't overly keen on massive crowds. We actually went on two back-to-back MSC Cruises, around each side of Italy. The embarkation procedure was super quick and efficient, and we were delighted with our two balcony rooms. The ship was beautifully clean, and the staff were lovely. I do think you 'get what you pay for', and I would not like to stay in a small interior cabin. The balcony room was spacious, and we loved the sliding glass doors to our deck. We spent many hours out there drinking cocktails and watching as we sailed in and out of new ports. The food was good - fresh, and good quality. Again, as we had upgraded to the 'Aurea' area (nicer rooms etc), we had our own dedicated restaurant for evening meals (silver service), but could still join the masses at the 24 hour buffet restaurant if we wanted. Our kids loved the buffet, and it was fantastic to be able to grab snacks at any time. We didn't spend much time in the very busy pool area - but we were there to see Europe, not lay on sun loungers. The port excursions were also very good. Very good value, and we always had excellent guides. The trips were very well organised, and well worth doing. Even if you did not want to do a guided excursion, it was made very easy to get on and off the boat, and there were transfers to all the major towns easily available. In short - this is a great way to see a lot of Europe in a very short time. We are very keen to go back, and would not hesitate to recommend MSC to anyone. Remember though - if you do the 'budget option' - you will get a budget experience. Read Less
