We choose this cruise for the destination and size of ship, it was a very special occasion for our friends, their golden wedding anniversary we are all fast approaching 70, young at heart and outgoing but this was like a care home for the eighties, and we were all treated likewise, in fact we felt like cargo.
The ammount of maintenance work going on was unbelievable the continuous smell of ...
One of our bucket list items was a cruise to the Fjords of Norway. Our first ever cruise was booked in December 2016 via Thomson and we booked on the Braemar - Fred Olsen.
This was definitely the right choice. The ship was exactly right for us. Everything was so well organised from arriving at the terminal in Southampton to getting off again. The ship itself was spotlessly clean. The cabin, an ...
We cruised in April in a 'Superior Outside Cabin' which was anything but. If you want to sleep at night on this ship, or at any other time come to that, do not book cabins 4141 or 4143 as the roaring from the deck above is unbearable. There may be other cabins that suffer from this noise nuisance and it would be worth your while to enquire when booking. We asked to be moved but, unfortunately, ...
The Sounds and Smells of a Superior Suite
This short cruise on Braemar (August 19th to 27th 2016) to the Norwegian Fjords was our second Fred. Olsen cruise of the year, having previously sailed on Boudicca. The Braemar compares favourably with the Boudicca – although both of these ships have a dated appearance and lack the design features of more modern ships, the Braemar did not have the tired ...
Southampton is convenient as a departure point,we wanted a less stressful experience than airports and wanted to see the Norwegian Fjords. This cruise ticked all those boxes for us. Embarkation was hassle-free, the ABP parking a bit dear but very efficient, as it was for disembarkation.
The Braemar is a well run ship, hand cleanliness very obvious and emphasised as it should be. The crew ...
This was the second cruise on Braemar following 4 on the Black Watch. As on all 6 cruises, from embarkation, 5 from Dover and 1 from Southampton, everything was straightforward and very efficient. The same remark applies to disembarkation. I make particular reference to the friendliness of the crew on both ships who could not be more helpful. The quality of the food was of a very high order as ...
Went on Braemar to the fjords from 23 to 30 May 2015
My husband and I love cruising been on twenty two been with all the big hitters you may says his was first time with Fred Olsen we were a little doubtful after reading some of the reviews about this cruise line how wrong we were we have never had such a good cruise

This was my first cruise on a Fred Olsen vessel. I usually cruise with Royal Caribbean and P&O. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised, as have previously read negative reviews about this ship. I can only compare with my previous experiences, but although small, this ship exceeded my expectations. The food is excellent and the best I have had on a cruise. The staff are welcoming and so ...
