I wanted to explore the ports in Canada and New England where I had never been before. Really enjoyed the food, the service, the spa and the Music Walk. The classical duo, a cellist and pianist from Las Vegas, were phenomenal. I also enjoyed the ocean band, the cocktail pianist, and the other pianist. They were all top notch. My cabin stewards took great care of me. This was my first solo ...
My wife and I wanted a cruise to the Canadian Maritimes, and wanted to cruise with a line that would not disappoint, and was not a “party” boat. I cruised with Holland America about 30 plus years ago and was not disappointed. Unfortunately this time I was. Let me highlight the positive elements first.
1. The Crew - The crew on this ship was wonderful. No one could have possibly asked for ...
Our cruise on the Zaandam to New England and Canada was somewhat disappointing. We enjoyed the interaction with the crew members and the interior room was comfortable. However, there was only one outlet and no minifridge. The trivia games were interesting and Leanne was really great as a host. But other than the trivia, we found that there was really no entertainment that was worth the time. ...
We chose this cruise because it traveled to places we’d never been before. We are still on the cruise as I’m writing this and we’re not very happy. The food at the Lido buffet is absolutely terrible and that seems to be the consensus is most of the passengers we’ve spoken to. The only very good food on the ship is at the Pinnacle Grill but there is a hefty surcharge and reservations are difficult ...
My wife came to America in 1952 on a HAL ship, so we kept using them for vacations. Mostly we really enjoyed the ships we were on, but the last ship (Zaandam) was not as enjoyable as the others. They all had excellent food and steward service. For us, we had the following problems:
1. Our shower kept changing water temp while using-not extreem, but annoying.
2. Our TV kept freezing or ...
This cruise from Boston to Montreal was to see some new sights in Canada. The ports of Bar Harbor, Charlestown, Quebec were interesting. Sydney and Montreal not so much. The common areas of the ship appear to have been refurbished in the last few months, but the cabins are showing a lot of age with only one electric outlet per cabin and an in room TV that is essentially useless and too ...
We signed up with this cruise three years ago before Covid started. We were cancelled twice and finally able to go this month. We had so much trouble with reservations, Covid requirements and all the APPs that we had to download. We had trouble with boarding times and then found out at the Dock that they didn't even care what time we boarded. The ship was old and creaky. There was only one ...
My wife and I chose this last minute cruise since she had never seen Canada. We are frequent cruisers of the Caribbean and thought this might be a nice change. The ship is fairly small and the clientele for this cruise is definitely older.
The food was good on the cruise. The best part for us was all the food is actually served even on the buffet. Was nice to not have other guests ...
We choose this cruise for the itinerary. It was leaving from Boston and we don't live to far away. Also we had heard great things about Holland America. We loved the first 5 days of the cruise but the last two were where Holland America totally lost us. We loved the service, food and ship until the last two days.
Two nights from the end of the cruise a pipe burst on our deck and 6 or 7 ...
I chose this cruise because my family decided a last minute trip and this trip was the only itinerary would fit our schedule and we wanted to explore the East coast of Canada. I would rated the experience better if it was our trip ended so terribly on the last day of our cruise trip. The crew members were hardworking and friendly. The food was good overall. I think they ship needs a major ...
