I've been on 20+ cruises and this is my 7th NCL cruise to Bermuda. So many of the fun aspects of cruising have disappeared in NCL's most recent exercise in corporate greed. I think it's time for me to take a break from NCL. So many passengers I spoke with informed me that Royal Caribbean and even the newer Carnival ships are a much better experience than this NCL Gem cruise.
* First of all, ...
Well I am Sapphire level on NCL. I have also cruised with many other lines but because of my level I typically pick NCL. This is the very first time in over 45 cruises in total that we did a suite. We had a forward facing balcony suite. The room was amazing until we read the sign “balcony only available when in port” and the other sign “curtains must be closed at night”.
None of this was ...
We especially love the Gem for the outstanding crew and staff, this is our second trip to Bermuda on the Gem. What a friendly group who gave outstanding service at all times. Our first time was before the pandemic.
We were in a Club Balcony and we very happy to see it had not been totally updated, the changes to this type of cabin on Pearl was terrible, (closet hard to open, doors ...
The ship is old and in desperate need of refurbishing. We got a great rate and feel that it was worth the fare we paid. Had we paid full fare I would have been very upset.
1. as per the title, the ship is in need of refurbishing, and a good cleaning, first ship I have been on where they are not constantly cleaning especially while in port.
2. club balcony small, wall to wall beds w/maybe ...
I'm not the biggest cruiser, but compared to others, this cruise was pretty average. What made it below average for us was our three kids. The amenities were pretty abysmal, especially for kids. My kids were bored! They would post hours for activities and then not have them open at the appointed time. They closed down areas like the basketball court at 5pm. Onboard games like shuffleboard and ...
My husband and I wanted to try cruising out of Boston, a port local to us, and to try out Norwegian after already having sailed on Carnival (10 years ago to Canada from NYC) and Royal Caribbean (to Alaska last year). We travelled with another couple who were on their first cruise ever. We all enjoyed ourselves, aided by the mostly smooth sailing, pleasant weather, enjoyable itinerary, and great ...
About the Reviewer: I’m a middle-aged American male who traveled solo on this, my 57th voyage. I have sailed primarily on NCL with over 30 voyages and a handful of cruises with Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, MSC and Carnival. This was my 32nd voyage with NCL and my first since major changes were implemented. My last NCL voyage was on the Norwegian Gem in January 2023. My last voyage before this ...
I have traveled with Norwegian Cruises over several years the took 2 in 2019. COVID hit and did not book until this year. That being said, I was disappointed in the changes made on the Cruise to Bermuda. Many of the details that made Norwegian special had disappeared. No turning down of the bed at night, no creating of animals with the towels, only 3 rolls with dinner for a table with 4 people ...
Booked this three days prior to sailing. Close to home, easy vacation. Have sailed NCL in past, love Bermuda and Bar Harbor. Overall, great trip. Ship a bit older but a good size, easy to move around. Entertainment clustered on decks 6 and 7, with decent live music, casino (gross and smoky).and a great tribute and comedy show. Enjoyed all.
Staff could not be nicer, especially Raymond ...
This is the fourth time I have taken a Bermuda cruise with NCL, unfortunately, this was the most disappointing of the four. This was the first time on the NCL Pearl and while the ship was nice and the staff was exceptional there were a few areas that are not like they were in past sailings. First, the entertainment was a significant downgrade, in the past the nightly entertainment was excellent ...
