This was our first cruise longer than 7 days.It was a good decision and we will be booking longer cruises in the future.Getting on the ship ran smoothly and our room was ready . The inside cabins seem to have shrunk quite a bit.The layout of the ship was similar to other so finding our way around was easy. The shows were good but the dance routines were just a little too busy. The cruise director and staff were great and allover the place. All the staff on the boat were great. Our room steward was excellant, she was never in the way but available when we need her. The TV free selections were very poor. We book excursions off the ship mostly because of cost. This was a nice selection of islands and did not include a cruise ship island which we don't care for..The disembarkation was a little confusion because we could not tell which color was being called. The meeting space for the friend of bill meeting would have worked better for me at 5:00. One of the conference room would have been a better choice Read Less

Start to finish this cruise was AMAZING!! The cabin, restaurants, ports, entertainment and especially the staff. We cannot thank Benny our butler and Giann our concierge enough for making this cruise so special. The ship was spotless any hour of the day. The bar staff went out of their way to accommodate us. We traveled with a person using a scooter and he had no issues navigating his way through the hallways or in and out of the elevators. All of the ports we docked and very easy to get on or off especially with the scooter. We did three beach excursions booked through NCL and all we fantastic. We really loved the itinerary and are disappointed that NCL has decided to stop this trip for next year and replacing it with 5 day Bermuda trips. Hopefully enough people will speak up and bring the southern Caribbean trips back to Boston. Read Less

We took the 14 night gem cruise because of cruise credits expirations. We were pleasantly surprised as last cruise on ncl was epic in 2013. Recently doing RCL and celebrity. Dining room staff excellent food decent. Activities staff outstanding. Zumba with Jeff was outstanding. Daily dancing activities. Every night a dance theme parties. Ports were excellent. Unfortunately quite a few drunks as this drink package thing is not controlled. The ship is a little worn out. Paint chipping etc. Prism band was outstanding. Production shows were excellent. Other acts were fair to great. We had an issue with chemical smell in our first ocean view room and after days of complaining we were switched to a balcony floor 8. Thankfully we enjoyed the fresh air but ceiling paint chips kept us out of balcony. Ncl activities staff were excellent and the dance parties were great as they added so much to everyone. Cruise came to an early end as a medical emergency had captain cruise full speed and we got off the ship with our luggage at 8 pm Thursday after dinner and show. I’m home writing review instead of waiting to embark on Friday morning. Read Less

My husband and I are longtime NCL guests. We chose this cruise based on the convenience of departing port being close to home and also based on the itinerary. We have taken numerous cruises with NCL and were very disappointed in this cruise. It lacked all of the reasons we usually choose to vacation on this cruise line. Embarkation was disappointing. First time ever where it seemed chaotic and disorganized and the lines were beyond long. Once onboard it was apparent that the ship was not staffed appropriately. It seemed that there was minimal staff to accommodate guest needs. Unable to be seated in timely manner at specialty restaurants that were pre-booked prior to boarding that were 3/4 vacant at time of reservation. Food service took a ridiculous amount of time to arrive after placing an order. Food was over salted to the point of it being inedible. There was a medical emergency on deck 12. The guest was injured and bleeding in and around the hottub. I watched as the crew without gloves attended to the guest contaminating the surrounding area. The location was never properly sterilized after the emergency. Hot tub was never drained and cleaned/disinfected. They absorbed the blood with pool/beach towels. The shore excursions meeting location was set up poorly in every port. There was one canopy set up along side the ship with few chairs for guests to wait however the tour organizers did not allow us to wait under the shaded canopy. They had us gather in lines in the sun for 15-30 minutes prior to the tour start. Another medical emergency occurred on the day of the last port. The ship was full speed ahead to get back to Boston a day early which meant we lost a day of beautiful weather, use of the pool, outdoor activities. I have always enjoyed cruising with NCL but was really taken aback by what was lacking in this cruise. It makes me question whether I may want to rethink NCL being my cruise line of choice for my family's upcoming European vacation. Read Less

A group of us met with our travel agent and we decided on the Gem from his review of it. The entertainment was wonderful, but the most impressive thing was the friendliness of the staff. All of the staff was courteous, friendly and very helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the dining facilities. The photographs taken are a little expensive, but for my first cruise, I just had to have them. The shore excursions, especially the tour of the island was extremely informative and a lot of fun. The only thing that was difficult was having reservations for the specialty dining. The reservations were for so late a time, that we missed a lot of the shows. I would not do reservations in the future because of that. The comedy show was fabulous and the Blazing Boots show was the best. I would definitely go again, and use the same travel agent, Chris Chambo. Read Less

I have been on 5 cruises previously with 4 different cruiselines (including Disney, Princess, and Royal Carribean). My experience on Norwegian Gem was by far the worst. 1. The stateroom is poorly designed, with no outlets near the head of the bed. Family members with CPAP machines had to run extension cords across the entire room to be able to use their medical device. 2. Stateroom did not seem fully stocked. I found out halfway through the cruise that hand/body lotion is readily available but was never stocked in my room for no clear reason. 3. The food was one of the biggest disappointments. Many dishes came out cold, and the portions for the appetizers are laughable. The food taste was mediocre at best. In particular, the quality of the food at Orchid Garden is not tasty at all. The buffet has poor variety. Despite having a large space, each food station is duplicated, so there is really only half the selection. And attempts at cost-saving were obvious... other cruises have smoked salmon, and this cruise had salmon spread. The tikka masala was always some vegetable rather than chicken. Just a few examples. 4. Having to tender to ports is terrible, and I left with the sense that my cruise experience was diminished due to cost-saving decisions by the cruiseline. 2 ports were cancelled due to weather preventing safe use of tender boats, but other cruise boats were able to dock at those ports on the same day as their cruiselines booked the pier rather than resorting to using tender boats. At one of the ports we actually made it to, delays in the tendering process led to our group having to wait 3.5 hours after our arrival time to actually make it onto a tender boat, so the time available to actually enjoy the port was lessened. 5. When ports were canceled due to weather, the cruise staff revised the activity options. But all I could see were more sales and charged activities (wine/whisky tastings). It's bad enough to miss out on a port, but then to have the cruiseline only open up activities that you have to pay more for is ridiculous. 6. My cruise benefit was to save $50 per port on shore excursions, and I was unable to use that benefit as half the ports were canceled. I had unused "non-refundable" credit that I asked be applied to the service charge since I was unable to use it on a shore excursion, and I was told that wasn't allowed. If a port is canceled, I would hope the cruiseline would go out of their way to try and improve the experience rather than make it more frustrating. 7. The cruise staff was overall friendly but one staff member (female cruise staff member from USA) was rude. She was managing elevator use while it was restricted for 4 hours due to tender boats. 8. The layout of the boat is poorly planned. With disabled members in our party, it was frustrating to have to take elevators up to a certain floor to walk across the boat and then take another elevator down to get to the main dining hall (which is a location we needed to get to 1-2x every day). We chose this cruise because it was from Boston to Bermuda. We live about an hour from Boston,so it was convenient. We went with another couple who had been on the Dawn and really liked that ship,so thought this would be similar. We had a balcony cabin. The hallways were narrow, the bathroom was small, especially the toilet area. Our room steward was great, can’t remember his name-cabin 9636. The food in specialty restaurants was great, atmosphere in LeBistro the best, found Cagneys to be loud and chaotic since we were near kitchen with food for the Brazilian grille also constantly going by. The main dining rooms service was slow, food pretty good, not great. Entertainment was fair-the best shows were the ones with audience participation. Also, there were a few sea days and activities need improvement-origami and towel folding? There was trivia and bingo, but we spent a lot of time on balcony due to lack of decent activities. One tip-if you want to do painting, sign up as soon as you get on ship-it fills up fast. Two outdoor pools only-always very crowded unless you went at 8am,which we did. The Bali Hai bar near pool is only smoking section and seemed to be loudest-people way overindulging!! Overall,a decent trip, but not sure would cruise Norwegian again. Read Less

We chose this cruise because frankly, we live by Cruise Port Boston, love Bermuda and spent our honeymoon on the Norwegian Gem on its transatlantic portion of its maiden voyage back in 2007 and wanted to see whether the cruise ship really was as awesome as we remembered. It was, and then some. The embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly. Sure, twelve years has taken its toll on the ship, but it wasn't that visible. The Dale Chihuly Glass Sculpture in the Atrium of the Gem still wows. The service was great. Our balcony stateroom was consistently kept immaculately clean. The food in the buffet was so delicious it kept us coming back for more. The variety in the buffet, with its different themes each night, was terrific. Even the free coffee was delicious. The staff showed pride in their work, and the attention to detail showed. We attended four major shows in the Stardust Theater, Swing, Blazing Boots, the Chernov Brothers - Circus Dance Show and Get Down Tonight which we very much enjoyed. We were able to walk to Snorkel Park Beach in Bermuda three days in a row and took the free ferry to St. George. We traveled with our nine year old son who is on the autism spectrum, and he had a great time. We went last year on the Norwegian Dawn (August 2018) and will go again on August 21, 2020. Read Less

Already In the process of planning our next cruise... Daily food menu changes with multiple options so there's something for everyone as well as dietary and allergy sensitive foods too... Pools were great after a long workout or a stroll around the ship, basketball, rock climbing or just laying back relaxing on the sundeck, there's many activities for various age groups and also for just adults which adds to the ability for everyone to be together yet also have their own time with individuals around their age as well ,playing games making crafts or just meeting and making new friends.... My Wife and I are a dual income, no kids couple (aka DINKS) and we vacation frequently with the notion of work hard, play hard and have no problems paying for luxury experiences. We had heard great things about the Boston to Bermuda NCL cruise. Being local, we absolutely LOVED the idea of getting dropped off at the ship and hopping right on to start our vacation. We decided to book the Owner's Suite with the large balcony, Hot Tub, King bed, large bathroom, Butler and Concierge service. The Hot Tub did not have a heater and it did not bubble, which caused us to sit and wait for it to be repaired on our first day. We usually book the more luxurious trips because we like the memorable experience it offers along with the pampering we do not receive on a day to day basis. Our summer Boston to Bermuda cruise left quite a bit to be desired and unfortunately, DID NOT meet our expectations. Given that we booked the Blue Diamond Suite on the Gem, our expectations were Extremely HIGH!! Day one of vacation came and embarkation on the ship as a Haven guest was as expected, we were greeted by the very professional MassPort personnel and shown to the Priority boarding area. There were some light refreshments and we met our concierge (Anoop) who was pleasant and provided an excellent vacation experience. He checked in with us at every dinner, helped to switch dinner reservations and provided ideas for a free day that we had in Bermuda. We do not consider ourselves High Maintenance guests and we appreciated Anoop's pleasant demeanor and his daily if not 2-3/day checking in with us to see if we needed anything. That being said, this is Actually the kind of thing one expects when you are spending the money to have the HAVEN experience, furthermore to be guests in the OWNERS Suite. One of the disappointing experiences was being told at dinner we had to pay for the $27 bottle of wine, champagne and cappuccino (it's espresso people) above and beyond what we ALREADY PAID. I understand it costs money to run a ship, overhead, etc, but we did not expect to be able to drink as much wine, champagne and coffee as we want when we went to the bar or in our room and not at dinner. It just doesn't make sense. Our Butler upon our arrival informed us that we are provided with 3 bottles of alcohol which included wine and liquor, and 1 complimentary bottle of champagne which of course makes sense. However, when after hours of sitting in the room waiting for the Hot Tub to be repaired (by very nice mechanics), I asked her if we can get more champagne while the sun is shining and it's 85 degrees and I'd like to start my vacation. There was no suggestion of the bottle being complimentary until I had suggested that some more champagne would alleviate the "inconvenience". I will say our Butler, Josephine, was pleasant, hard working and took good care of us, but if we needed anything we had to summon her. We certainly didn't feel like she was checking in on us and she did stock our fridge with 2 bottles of Prosecco the next day after considering my suggestion. Another rather disconcerting event happened near the end of our cruise in the Haven Courtyard. Apparently only cruisers who booked HAVEN Rooms are allowed in the Haven Courtyard. Given this was our first cruise, I was not aware of this because while hanging out in the Haven Courtyard two days prior, several of us who were staying in the Haven had a impromptu Pool party with buckets of Adult Beverages for everyone, good conversation, laughter etc, While socializing I realized that it was obvious several of my fellow passengers had brought their friends who were NOT HAVEN Guests up to the courtyard, I assumed that this was allowed and it seemed reasonable to me. All the guests at our impromptu pool party were great people, classy and we were all having a really good time. So, when I brought a friend who happened to be on the ship serendipitously, I of course thought it was fine. Hey, rules are rules, I totally understand. However, our concierge (Anoop) sent a younger HAVEN Staff member (Made, the Haven Courtyard Valet) to address this issue with me in front of my Guest and my wife, I was MORTIFIED. Listen, we've all been kicked out of bars or nightclubs when we're in our twenties for too much celebrating etc., but when you pay a pretty hefty sum of cash to stay in a premier room and are scolded and treated with such utter DISRESPECT over a misunderstanding I have a bit of an issue. Anoop, (The Concierge and the BOSS) should've take it upon himself to have a private conversation with me and clarify the rules, not send his subordinate over and embarrass me in front of my wife and friend. This small incident was the final straw in what we thought was going to be a 5-Star White Glove Service. In Summary, this was our fault, we lacked experience cruising and with NCL in particular. We had an EXCELLENT Vacation but We did NOT get the VALUE for the money we spent. The NCL Gem is obviously not a luxury based ship and trying to provide white glove 5 star service with their HAVEN option was not up to par. We would've been better off and less disappointed if we booked a much less expensive option for the experience we had. If NCL wants to provide high level white glove experiences to guests who are willing to pay then they need to stop nickel and diming their guests and offer more 'all inclusive' type packages with attention to detail if they are looking to garner a higher level clientele who are willing to pay. We would definitely go on another Boston to Bermuda NCL cruise, however, we will absolutely book a much more cost effective package. Booking the package we booked along with our disappointment is akin to going to Outback Steakhouse and believing you are going to get the same kind of Filet that one gets at Del Friscos or similar high end steakhouse that in short, is basically the experience we had. I love to have some Kukkaburrow wings while wearing jeans and a t-shirt but you will not catch me ordering a premium steak and at the very least having the expectation that it will be 5 star!! Well my daughter and son booked the cruise months ago. My husband booked it for us a week before he passed away! My children & doctor thought it would be good for me to go and he would want me too! well everyone was right it was good for me. I felt he was there with us! I asked my sister to go with me, so she was my new roommate! I enjoyed watching my grandchildren at the pool going down the slide, the shows were awesome, the newly wed game, deal of no deal, the restaurants very good! So many choices, the food excellent! I took my two granddaughters to the spa and had there hair braided! And we tried out the casino too! I can't say enough about the staff! our steward manuel was wonderful, taking care of our room, making cute towel animals and if you needed anything he would get it. Diana in the buffet very helpful, always offering to carry are food to the table. And you have the best cruise director in luz and assistant joey! I could go on and on! We also saw one of my granddaughters swim with the dolphins. Then my sister and i did a bus tour of the island of bermuda! I had flown there with my husband in the past. So all and all a great vacation i was relaxed. A much needed one. I would recommend a cruise to anyone! Read Less

We wanted an early winter mini-break so booked a 9-day out of Boston on the Dawn. We have been on the Dawn before and found the re-furbishing a major disappointment, and the reason for four stars vs five. Space is even more cut up than before with flow through just about nil. We enjoy the main dining menus and food and see no need for the many, many specialty restaurants taking up all the common space. Our cabin (mini suite with balcony) seemed smaller than usual (11102) due to the different layout. We usually cruise mid-ship but on the Dawn the mid ship mini suites are under the pool so did not want to hear the chairs scraping. One of our drawers did not stay shut but cabin steward had carpenters fix immediately. Plenty of storage (prefer the cabins with more drawers vs shelves, but still plenty) Entertainment was again, excellent, with a good variety in the various venues. Food was good - not exceptional, but good, lots of variety and plentiful. We did try LeBistro (disappointing), LosLobos (nothing special) and Cagney's (Excellent) with our "free" perk for distinctive voyage/Latitudes Platinum. While we would go back to Cagney's (with our Latitude rewards, NOT to pay extra), we find plenty of variety and excellent choices in the dining room. We never eat in the cafe (I have a food allergy and don't trust the other diners not to cross-contaminate). Service was wonderful throughout the ship. Read Less

We were looking forward to cruise as the last cruise we took was several years ago. We were looking forward to the freestyle dining and we bought the thermal suite package which was good value and lovely. The public areas are garish and dated and though our cabin was small, it was comfortable. It had only one outlet, but we did not mind. Embarking was smooth and we were excited for an autumn cruise. The crew. I know they work hard and are understaffed. However, it was not that the crew was inattentive; they were snarky and went out of their way to be unhelpful. There were eye rolls, wrong information and shoulder shrugs when asking for assistance or a question. I have never seen employees look so annoyed and contemptuous. We were unable to dock at Prince Edward Island because of terrible storms. They seemed not to be able to cope with change in schedule and not many things to take place of docking. We did not buy the private dining plan and the good was mediocre. Think Holiday Inn. Not terrible but not tasty and often served barely warm and not with a smile to be sure. There may have been a different experience if we had bought the private package. Because we were not able to port, I had to buy internet to deal with a family emergency at home. It was so slow when it worked and I bought 2 packages worth over 200.00 to connect a few times. It was difficult to turn off and if you had downloaded to 2 devices it often charged double time. Again, I had no choice as this was option as unable to port. If you know you will not need to connect with mainland for any reason, this won’t be an issue for you. I took this cruise with a friend hoping to convince my husband, who is no fan of cruise ships, that this was an option for South America as opposed to a smaller ship. I was also hoping to like it enough to treat extended family to a cruise as they live next to a port and it would be easier to do that then fly them to our home. This may still be an option, but definitely not with NCL. If you are thinking about a foliage cruise or visiting Nova Scotia I would recommend it as it is beautiful. However, do not take NCL. My husband and I had a wonderful time on our cruise. All of the personnel that we dealt with, from our cabin steward to our restaurant staff were wonderful to deal with. We had a wonderful time at all of the activities, but most especially the 80's Dance Party. Our weather was perfect. We feel that the food was not always at a high standard (i.e., occasionally not as hot as it could have been and the steaks were sometimes not tender). We do feel that everyone on the ship went out of their way to make sure that we enjoyed our cruise. We also especially enjoyed the piano bar, especially Danny. The shore excursions were the only area that we had an issue. Halifax (Peggy's Cove/Titanic Graveyard) - Peggy's Cove was more than we could ever have dreamed of. I wish we had picked an excursions that was only that stop. We only landed up having about 45-50 minutes, so there was no time to go into the store, get food, or see the town. We would have liked to have time to sit on the rocks and just relax. We did have a huge issue with the bus service. It was very warm (80's) and the air conditioning on the bus was either not working or working poorly. People were complaining and asking them to turn up the air conditioning, especially since the windows did not open. I started to feel so sick that I thought I was going to faint. The next day we ran into other people that said they they almost fainted also. It was terrible and ruined the rest of the excursion. New Brunswick (Hop On/Hop Off Big Pink Bus) - We started out very disappointed with the bus service. We had to have waited almost 1 1/2 hours for the initial bus to pick us up in the parking lot. The parking lot was full of people, standing in direct sunlight on a very warm day, waiting (people in wheelchairs, with canes, etc.). The bus service was poorly run. Otherwise the tour was okay. The Skywalk was a little disappointing and was much smaller than the picture. We were done in 15 minutes. Bar Harbor (An Intimate Look at Acadia National Park) - This tour was the highlight of our cruise. Despite the fact that Immigration showed up an hour late and caused a commotion with all of the tours that had to wait for their passengers, our tour of Acadia was wonderful! It was even more beautiful than we imagined. We had a wonderful time in Bar Harbor. Overall, despite some disappointment with our shore excursions, our cruise was a wonderful experience and we would love to go again in the not very distant future. Read Less

I wanted to take my elderly mother on a calm cruise as a cruise was on her bucket list. When I boarded the ship I ask if I could rent a wheelchair for my mother I was declined do to the face I did not make arrangements when I booked the reservation. I didn’t think we would need one 3 mo prior to the trip. I was spoken to TERRiBLE by the security personal. After we boarded the ship an after a 2 hour wait to get in our room I was told it was mandatory we attend the safety drill procedure. I could not take my elderly mom there with walking disability down the stairs so I had her stay in the room while I attended.. My mother there has Dementia also. When I returned to the room my mother was not there. I went to the hallway an ask the cabin Stew Ricardo if he had seen my mother.? Ricardo stated he went into the room (I assume to clean as it was not very clean when we arrived) an he saw he sitting on the bed with a blanket. Ricardo then said she said she was hungry then she left the room. I told him I needed to find her she has dementia. I looked through halls of our floor an I found her safe an sound. I was then paged by the security personal. I went to guest services an was invited to an office of the security personal. The female security officer and the male officer spoke to me HORRIBLE!!!!!! The female officer stated the cabin stew stated he found my mother in the room wrapped in a blanket laying under the bed. Complete total LIE. First of all my mother would not b able to get on the floor much less under the bed. Second, ileven if that were true...why would he leave her there?.,I told them that was impossible!!! They then told me the cruise line was never t responsible for my mother and I was not to leave her alone. I told them I would not have left her alone had it not been for their safety procedure an the caregiver who was suppose to be on the trip with us had cancelled the day before., I was shocked humiliated over they way I was treated. Also I ask guest services if I could rent a wheelchair was declined from for the ship and also declined for shore excursions an just walking in the towns when we docked so our entire trip was spent on the ship except for one day we left the ship for Halifax an I thought maybe I could rent a cab. My mother had a very difficult time even walking down the ramp to the port. A very nice man who works for Hop on Hop off ask if we needed anything I explained I wanted my mother to tour the city was unless we hired a cab it wasn’t going to work out. He said if we wanted to take the Hop on Hop off they would help me get her on an off. We did do that an we just stayed on the bus but at least she was able to see the city. This was the only time during this vacation someone treated my mother with kindness and respect. I feel my mother was discriminated against several times by the Cruise Line an will never take another Royal Caribbean Cruise again. Your cruise line should be ashamed. Read Less

Our cruise ship was suppose to go to Bermuda. Unfortunately, so was Hurricane Florence. Norwegian Cruise Line made the correct decision to divert our ship to New England and Canada. What a great cruise!! The weather was perfect in the upper 60’s and lower 70’s. The seas were calm and the excursions were plentiful to select from. Halifax, Nova Scotia was amazing. We visited the Fairview Cemetery where 151 victims of the Titanic disaster are buried. Such a humbling experience!!! We also learned about the great explosion in Halifax in 1917. Peggy’s Cove is a must see and great souvenir shopping there. In Sydney, Nova Scotia we enjoyed a very festive live fiddle show. In Saint John, New Brunswick we went to see the Reversing Rapids and learned about the high tide from the ocean pushing back the river!! Beautiful marigolds were planted in the middle of the highway by the school students. Our last stop was in Bar Harbor, Maine. We took a tour to Acadia National Park and Cadillac Mountain. Such a breathtaking view and excellent photo shots!!! To end our day, we ate lobster at the West St. Cafe, highly recommended by the ship and locals!! Oh my goodness, we ended our trip with triple chocolate cake!!! Norwegian Cruise Line took great care of us. I also loved the casino on the ship and all of the delicious meals they served to us!! Could not have asked to be treated any better. Thank you Norwegian Dawn for some of the best memories of my life!! Read Less

Bermuda! Not to be. Boring Canada when still green is probably the worst of the worst. No time to research, shore excursions far pricier than original destination, staff was ready to leave for home (like we were). So sad to see many people get off boat when they reached Halifax (where they came from) and Sydney and New Brunsick, and Bar Harbor. I thought the Captain made an easy call and did not consider the passengers and that we literally hung out in our backyards for 7 days. Caught a virus. Food in main dining rooms was excellent. Shows were pretty good. But what a BORE. I could have and would have stayed home but we had absolutely no options nor compensation for this sucky cruise. Why did Escape go South when we did not? Why was Prince Edwards Island offered as an alternative? The passengers were unhappy and NCL could care less as they have offered no compensation for this bad call. We would have been out of Bermuda before Florence hit which it did not and would hardly have affected us since the course did not include any of the states that were hit. AWFUL! Read Less

Birthday & celebration The staff on board will exceed your expectations and wow you for every second you are aboard. We were concerned when we booked. Getting help from NCL over the phone was painful. We had help with an outside travel agent who really did the heavy lifting on planning this trip...unfortunately after we booked directly with Norwegian. Once the travel agent from AAA help out....we knew we had a great trip planned. Once aboard...the staff was awesome. Food was excellent and plentiful. Better than the Capital Grill and Legal Seafoods. Loved the entertainment... Julie Barr, Tina Turner Act , Irish comedian show was excellent. We watched the Newly Wed Game with actual guest....very, very funny. JC Sanchez....you had us in stitches!! JC your cruise director had a week of fun, fun and more fun planned 24 / 7 We would book this trip with our friends and family members in a heartbeat. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it's leaves from our home town Boston. The staff was really friendly & nice except Photography. all the pictures they took was not good at all. The photographer was in a hurry to move lots of people that he didn't even informed us that pictures didn't come out right & let's take it again. The entertainment was very good. overall it was good experience. might try again for different destination. Shore Excursions is waist of money. don't do it. better of buying after you reach to Bermuda. it was much cheaper there. Dining staff & also Garden Cafe was really good. you can do plenty of activities at the cruise. they had programs lined up for all day. We had three children with us & they had a good time. Remember to take lots of pictures by yourself. can't trust their staff for pictures & also very expensive. Read Less

We chose this cruise to celebrate our 40th anniversary and to just relax. We did both. It was such a wonderful time. We went to see a bunch of shows Element which which was great. A comedian who was very funny. A juggling comedian who was also great. We ate at Cagney’s steakhouse twice . which is a must . Moderno And the main dining rooms are great too. Did not care for the Buffet .The bands playing at the pool were great to listen to. Embarkation was easy just go where they tell you the lines move pretty quick. Disembarkation don’t keep your luggage. Pick a color it is much better than waiting in the line that goes all over the ship. We did one excursion and that was the glass bottom boat. Worth the 69 dollars . A lot of interesting tips about the island from the captain. Read Less

We live in western MA so leaving out of Boston was perfect. We were 4 families with 4 children. Took us about 1hr and 45 minutes to get there and as soon as we were on board the party began. At sea we all did our own thing, (trivia, swimming, bingo, exercise, line dance, casino or just relax and maybe read a book). We all got together to have dinner together and went to the shows together which were fantastic! Elements was totally awesome and so were the dancers, singers, comedian and magician. The ship was the perfect size for us. The larger ships have more to do but you need to make reservations when you first board for the shows, if you don’t you might not be able to see them as you would have to check just before the show to see if there is any room. The movie trivia was a lot of fun and the staff did a fantastic job. Read Less

My Mom and I really enjoyed our cruise. The staff on the Dawn were so attentive to my mother, who uses a wheelchair and a cane. I feel like each time we attempted a transfer in and out of her transport chair, someone was there to hold the chair or flip the foot rests up and down, no one was asked, staff just know what to do and don't hesitate to jump in. I read plenty of reviews complaining that the buffet didn't have variety, that the staff in the buffet were miserable, etc. That was not the case! The offerings changed every day. The salad bar had different cold salad offerings every single day, the dinner buffet the first night had a seafood theme, another night they did a Turkey dinner (we did not have it, we dined at Los Lobos that night). The final night there was prime rib. I nominated the entire buffet staff for a hero of the cruise award because they were so attentive and personable. The breads are amazing but the salad dressings are watered down. There are name brand bottled dressings available, use those. The music on board kept us so entertained. Manila Soul performed on the pool deck and in the night club, they are high energy and cover everything from the Beatles to Donna Summer to AC/DC, we loved them. Jamroc was so fun also and Paul Mullins performed lots of Elton John, Billy Joel, Sinatra at Gatsby's. Everyone had a little luck in the casino at one time or another. I did not like the way the craps dealers kept pushing to keep the dice moving, we were trying to teach some people the game, there was no one else playing and there was no reason to be that aggressive and pushy. I did not play craps the final two days because the pit staff just were bossy and pushy. Jerry in the casino will keep you from going thirsty, great cocktail service. My mom was in very good hands with Dorotea in the salon and I was able to enjoy a hot stone massage with Richelle, just delightful. The day pass for the spa is $50. The thermal loungers are the most magnificent things ever! Le Bistro was very good and the best cup of coffee on the ship. Our favorite meal was at Los Lobos, the ambiance was colorful and mom raved about the red snapper. The Mexican rice however was straight out of a Zatarains box, oversalted and gross. Tres Leches cake was off the hook delicious. We dined at Venetian one meal and it was inedible. We are really not picky eaters. Both of our entrees, lasagna and roasted lamb, were inedible. The coconut lime souffle was terrific. We did not return to the Venetian and never tried Aqua. Read Less

I like to write my review right away so everything is still fresh in my mind. I was travelling as a single parent with two friends who are also single parents. Our kids are different ages (12, 15, and 18.) There is something for everyone on this cruise. It’s a small ship, so no big climbing walls, zip lines, etc. We all had an amazing time. Our cruise was over the 4th of July and the ship was at full capacity. I did the same cruise a couple of years ago with less people in late August. Although it seemed crowded at times around the pool, it was amazing. I learned a few things that I would do differently next time we go. We signed up to go again with a great program Norwegian has because we loved it so much. We did not get the internet package – no phones, no internet, no snapchat, Instagram, Facebook. So, if you travel with other families (on not) it’s great to bring a small white board to stick on your door so you can leave messages the old fashion way. When you’re in port there are plenty of places to get free Wi-Fi to update friends and family. The Bermuda Information center has free Wi-Fi, you can sit on the bench outside and access it. We found it nice to be “off the grid for a couple of days.” DINING: There is so much food. I did not go to any specialty restaurants, but my friend went to some and said they were great. I made reservations for our party of 6 at Aqua and Venetian online for our days at sea. Once you are on the ship the main dining times are not open to make reservations at the complimentary restaurants. We did not have to wait in line for any of our dinners, and were seated right away b/c we had reservations. If you plan dinner reservation online you can only schedule Aqua and Venetian. Bamboo (Asian Fusion) says no reservation required. However, you can make a reservation the day you want to dine there once you are on the ship. It usually has a big line so make a reservation in the morning on the day you plan to dine there. Make sure to go to the Venetian for breakfast at least once. It’s mostly the same food as the Garden Buffet, but so nice to have five-star service, and some special menu options. ENTERTAINMENT: Go to every show. The performances are great. If you’re not that interested, at least make sure to go the Elements performance. It is the best show you will see at sea. It’s Broadway meets David Copperfield, and Cirque du Soleil in one amazing show. EXCURSIONS: Book most on your own. You can get to Horseshoe Bay on bus or shuttle. Public bus is great way to see island if you want to see lots of places in one day. Or buy tokens at the Bermuda Info. Center. The cruise excursion to Horseshoe Bay is $45/pp. – Just walk off ship and you can get $7 one way or $14 rt. (per person.) You must see Horseshoe Bay - there are tons of shuttle buses, so pay one way and when you are ready to leave pay the other $7. Most everyone on the Norwegian Dawn does everything they can to make sure you have the best vacation. Of course, there may be things you are not 100% happy with; overall you make what you want of your vacation. We loved it. Read Less
