This is a wonderful river cruise for anyone who is loves wine and is curious to learn more about how some of the world's best wines are produced. This particular river cruise does not travel very far on the Gironde and Garonne rivers, yet provides a very comfortable venue to tour many of the regions historical chateaus and world-renowned vineyards. The various choices of included and optional ...

Everything was excellent ,far above our expectations. Viking did its best to make sure we had a great vacation from meeting us at the airport ,to wining and dining us every day.The staff was always available to help us with tours ,questions on the local cities we visited. We felt very comfortable and safe on the ship. Our rooms were adequate and cleaned daily. The ship Was wonderful with plenty ...

Forgettable

Scenic swamp you with marketing propaganda, even the cruise director continues to plug how good they are but they are pretty standard and not much different from the other lines we’ve been with. The staff are all keen to please but some were sadly incompetent. Maybe they’d be better later in the season. Service was cheerful but slow, even though they claim a higher staff-to-passenger ratio than ...

An Exceptional Cruise Experience

This being my first river cruise, I was unsure of what to expect. After viewing many videos and researching Viking, I placed them on a high pedestal. I must say everything exceeded my expectations in every way. The ship, excursions staff, crew, cuisine were superb. The cultural, educational and historical aspects of the excursions were truly enlightening. I gleaned lots of information as it ...

Great First River Cruise

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on AmaDolce

Our first river cruise was an enlightening experience. With two ocean cruises in our past, we were skeptical of the significant cost difference between a river and ocean cruise but soon realized you do get what you pay for. Far more intimate service, better food, and attentiveness on excursions. AmaWaterways is top notch and we couldn't say enough positive things about our cruise manager, ...

Not a typical river cruise

Partially due to inclined weather conditions, the cruising part of this trip has been dramatically reduced. Majority of the excursions fall under the side of 'a bit boring' category. Fortunately, we booked the pre-cruise excursion that highlighted the whole experience, otherwise, the river cruise part alone would not earn my praise at all. While the executive chef made the daily dinner ...

My friend and I shared a room (two twin beds) for the week cruise and had a terrific time. We spent the first night in Bordeaux at the InterContinental Hotel and boarded the ship the next day. The Hotel is fabulous! Our quarters were small for two people, but we managed. We were on the top floor and with the "balcony" which was not really a balcony, just a nice window that could be ...

Overall Good, but aspects were disappointing

We recently completed the Bordeaux river cruise with Viking. The overall experience was good, but a couple aspects of the cruise were disappointing. Firstly, the staff were generally very courteous, professional and well trained. A couple exceptions, but overall excellent service. The Forseti is a beautiful boat, but the ship was missing a gym, hot tub and bikes. I noticed the Uniworld ...

Highlights were Remy Martin and Old submarine base in Bordeaux

We chose this cruise as we particularly wanted to see the light show at the old submarine base and also wanted to visit Remy Martin. We also wanted to do several french wine tastings which this cruise also gave us the opportunity to do. My husband really enjoyed the visit to Remy Martin. The best winery visit was Chateau Lagrange. Very good tour and organised wine tasting. on the other hand the ...

A pity about the rivers and the landscape

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Scenic Diamond

After the Douro, the Seine and the Rhone, the Garonne etc. are a disappointment - ugly brown water (clean apparently) and rather dull landscape - not until you get out into the vineyards does it start to get pretty. Also some of the towns are a bit sad - the back streets of Libourne, for example, are to be avoided - full of beautiful but neglected, derelict houses and weeds pushing through the ...
