I chose this cruise because of their great advertising, which is totally false! The catamaran is old, decrepit, dank, and in dire need of a total overhaul! Those beautiful photos of a chef flaming food, it never happens, and their idea of exotic dishes is chicken done seven ways, lamb sausages, spattering of fish, meals served in an open dining area that is hot and humid and the flies feast on your food before you have a chance to!Majority of the meals are buffet, and there are flies, gnats, and tiny roaches around the food and coffee area. The place you may find relief from the heat could be your cabin, except your cabin is small, dank, and disgusting where the a/c knob turns without any change in the temperature. The ensuite bathroom is so small you have to shower with one foot in and one foot next to the toilet. When you wash your face or brush your teeth all you can smell is the sewer coming up from the drain.Don't lean on the sink because it wobbles. They also have a 24/7 deodorizer in the cabin spritzing every so many minutes.Stay away, book Captain Cook Cruises you will be so sorry if you book the Fiji Princess.Crew are great, and I feel for them having to work under the most horrible conditions!Their brochure is totally false advertising, and when I complained they said the ship went under total renovations after my cruise, that was a lie because we had to be out of our rooms by 9:00a.m for their quick turn.Lies, Lies,False Advertising! Blue Lagoon Cruises are my "Happy Place" I just finished cruise number 5 and this time brought some first time BLC friends with us. They had an awesome time and we are already talking about cruise number 6. The staff are second to none and they make you feel like their family. The activities will blow your mind with new adventures every day. I loved watching my friends faces light up when they saw Nanuya Lai Lai for the first time. Swimming in the famous Saws-I-Lau Caves is an experience never forgotten. This cruise is for the young and old alike. The ship is extremely comfortable and unlike big ship cruising your cabin will be your bedroom and the ship your home. The food is scrumptious and you eat on the islands you visit including a special Lovo night on The Blue Lagoon Island with Meke to follow. You also have theme nights, Captain's Dinner aboard all of which is more dressy but only if you want to as dress code is casual but respectful. You can drink a cocktail while floating in the sea, nothing is too much trouble for the wonderful crew. You will meet and mix with wonderful people and share memories you will never forget. Visiting traditional Villages is a highlight and you will eat traditional Fijian Food one night at a village. You will meet beautiful village children and the happiest people I have ever met. This is a boutique cruise full of adventure on a very comfortable small ship with maximum 64 passengers completely different to big ship cruising. If you like big ship cruising you will find this completely different but you will realise what you have been missing. Same if you are used to big resorts, this is so much better. If you are travelling alone you will find this a great option as you can spend a week at a resort without really meeting people but on a Blue Lagoon Cruise the crew and other passengers will make you part of a very happy and fun group. Every time I've cruised we have had singles that have thoroughly enjoyed their experience. If you come to Fiji, please consider at least a four day BLC you most certainly will not regret it. I hate big ship cruising but I LOVED the Fiji Princess. Embarkation and disembarkation for the 7 day cruise is from the Denaru Marina, in Nadi, Fiji and involves the crew singing both a greeting song and a goodbye song. The ship's crew is fabulous: friendly, caring, attentive, warm and entertaining (they sang to us often). They really make this cruise, but the ship itself and the itinerary are also great. The ship has 30 cabins so 60 passengers are the max. This makes for a fairly intimate experience and one gets to know many of the other passengers, many of whom are from New Zealand and Australia. The ship has really nice and well designed cabins with lots of storage including under bed storage for your suitcases (the beds are raised platform style). Every cabin has a window and ensuite bath which is small but very functional. The shower converts to a hand held shower which makes it so much easier to shower. There is even a medicine cabinet in the bathroom to store all your essentials. Our cabin was on the Hibiscus Deck and we were so glad as this deck has the dining room and reception area (where one goes to board the tenders for trips) and the self service free laundry room that has 2 washers and 2 dryers. The lowest Orchid Deck has the bar and lounge area and the upper Orchid deck has its own sun deck. The food on the ship is great and plentiful with several choices at every meal. Fresh fish is almost always available as is beautiful salad fixings every lunch time. In addition to the 3 meals they serve morning and afternoon tea which usually includes fresh tropical fruit of all kinds. The 7 day tour winds up and around the Yasawa Islands and includes visits to the islands where the movies Blue Lagoon and Castaway were filmed as well as an excursion to the caves featured in the Blue Lagoon movie. In addition there is snorkeling almost every day and sometimes twice per day, village visits at many of the islands and a visit to the cruise company's private beach which is really beautiful and includes a song and dance performance by the villagers of that island. The reefs of Fiji are in marvelous condition, healthy, lush, colorful and well populated with a large variety of fish and other sea creatures. We took this cruise mainly for the snorkeling and were not disappointed. In all, I whole heartedly recommend this cruise. Read Less

Just recently came of the Fiji Princess, 7 night cruise and was so disappointed. The good points first, the Yasawra Islands are gorgeous the best part of Fiji and Blue Lagoon have their own private beach at Blue Lagoon which is a fantastic spot! The staff were good, friendly. I'm afraid that is it for the positive. Negative. On the first night there was no hot water for all cabins had to be fixed. The toilets broke down twice during the cruise. We woke up on the first morning to get a coffee and there was lipstick on the cup. Also when they cleaned the room they would put the wine glasses over the open vent of the air conditioning. As you can imagine not the most healthiest thing to be doing. There was a blood stain on our sheets! The whole ship apparently has had a refurbishment but where I do not know. The food was another big contention, it just wasn't good! For how expensive this cruise is, it is not up to standard of the price. Another couple had to be moved twice because of problems in their cabin. They were then moved into the Orchid deck after the 2nd night which is a higher more expensive deck but because they had paid for the Hibiscus deck and not the Orchid deck (even though they had been moved because of technical problems) they actually took out the coffee machine in the room as it's not included in what they had paid?? So they were offered no compensation at all for two rooms that were unusable but then had the insult of not even enjoying the benefits of the upgraded room. Lastly and I kid you not my partner came back with Scabies!! Poor cleanliness of the cruise/cleaners. I am a travel agent and I would not recommend my clients on this cruise. Read Less

We have just completed the 7-day cruise option. This holiday will remain amongst our most loved for years to come. The staff of Blue Lagoon cruises are to be highly commended on their willing and effective service and personable manner. Each day unfolds at a different location and there are ample opportunities to swim, snorkel, visit villages, kayak etc. The Captain monitors the weather and tides and will move location to obtain the optimum safe and comfortable location to spend each night peacefully. The vessel is well appointed with three main areas for relaxation being the top, open deck, which is the best for cooler breezes, the dining saloon and the lounge area on the two floors below. Guests are welcome at the bridge at any time and this may be of great interest to some as they navigate through the islands. The days at Blue Lagoon and the Caves will live clearly in our memories for ever. It is not difficult to enter the second chamber at the caves, make sure you do this. The local village artistic song and dance at Blue Lagoon after dinner was of an excellent standard and a highlight as well. Food was plentiful and varied and of a good standard. The ferrying of passengers to and from the shore activities was extremely well managed and flexible. The cabin was comfortable and private and well serviced. The bathroom was what you would normally expect on a smaller vessel but adequate. Guests integrated very well with each other and the staff and we had lots of fun together with some late nights. Thankyou to all of the staff of Blue lagoon Cruises! Read Less

We have been on many cruises in the past 20 years, but this one was unlike any other. This is not your typical cruise ship, and we mean that in a very good way. The Fiji Princess is a 34 cabin ship that navigates the Yasawa Islands of Fiji, making one or two stops each day. The atmosphere on board in very casual and highly social. We spent most of the week in shorts and casual shirts. Shoes were optional for both guests and some of the crew. After years of formal nights and sometimes impersonal service on large ships, this was quite a pleasant change. The crew aboard Fiji Princess were warm, friendly and beyond helpful. Every member of the cruise staff was fantastic. They made the entire experience special in every way. How often do you have a captain open the bridge and invite the guests to stop by any time they like? The same goes for the chef and the galley. Other cruise lines would benefit from seeing how this all-Fijian crew treated their guests. Activies consisted of beach trips, amazing snokeling and multiple opportunites for cultural experiences, such as village visits. More active guests, such as ourselves, will appreciate the water activies and unique items like the cave swim. We highly recommend this cruise and will definitely do it again. Read Less

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful cruise. It was such a different cruise experience. We anchored out every night and never went near any ports. There was well supervised snorkeling once or twice daily on different reefs. The entire crew was the most friendly and happy I have ever experienced. It was all about smiles and music and a true Fijian experience. That was why we went and we were not disappointed in any way. We visited several communities including a Sunday church service featuring amazing singing. We had a real Fijian dinner at a village, eating local food with our hands. Everything detailed on the precruise information happened and it was all delivered by happy crew with broad smiles. At night, there was singing featuring a ukelele and a couple of guitars Even the captain sang and played. Fiji is a long way from where we live but if I ever get close enough, I will do the cruise again. G/L Ontario   Read Less

We have just completed the 7 day Yasawa Islands cruise on the Fiji Princess. We are completely hooked on small ship cruising. We sailed out of Port Denarau which is 15 minutes from Nadi airport. The cab cost us $25.00. Boarding was very simple and we were greeted on the gangway by the crew singing, "Bula, Bula", the Fijian welcome song. The ship only holds 65 passengers which makes for a very intimate cruise. After only 20 minutes from shore, the ship slowed down because we had already caught a fish! The crew pulled in a beautiful 2 foot long Spanish Mackerel which was cooked up for dinner. Talk about fresh!!! After sailing about 2 hours, we reached the island where Tom Hanks filmed Castaway. We had a chance to swim and snorkel and enjoy the beautiful island. Back on the board, we got ready for the Captain's dinner with pre-dinner cocktails on the Sky Deck. The crew sang and we all had a dance. Such a great night. Every morning, we had an opportunity for an early morning swim on shore before breakfast. Then, we would set sail for the next gorgeous deserted island. The crew would set up umbrellas and beach blankets on the beach. The crew took us out to the reef to go snorkelling. We even did a shark feeding snorkel which was incredible. Little 2-3 foot Reef Sharks swam around us. Totally safe and very exciting. On returning to the beach, the crew always had a table set up with tea/coffee/ice water or juice, fresh fruit and delicious fresh baking. The food was incredible....as they say, "The more you eat...the more you float"!!! We would then sail to another gorgeous island. We visited a few traditional Fijian Villages, swam in the world famous Sawa-i-lau caves, and visited the actual "Blue Lagoon" where the Brooke Shields movie was filmed. The best day of the cruise was definitely the visit the the Blue Lagoon Private Island. Talk about Paradise. Here, we had wonderful snorkelling (the colourful soft corals are amazing) a BBQ lunch on the beach, a chance for a cross-island trek, and a game of volleyball with the crew. In the evening, there was a traditional Lovo feast (the food is cooked in the ground with hot stones). The local village came to the Island and did a dancing and singing performance. It was fabulous. We also had an opportunity to have dinner in a local village. The food was delicious, and the fish all freshly caught that day. The one thing that sets this cruise line apart from all others is definitely The Crew. They are the friendliest, kindest people we have ever met. They love their guests and will bend over backwards to make you happy. One afternoon, a crew member overheard a guest say, "Wouldn't it be nice to have a coconut drink". The next thing we knew, the crew had gotten a bunch of coconuts off of the trees and were serving them to us as we swam in the ocean!!!!! Unreal. One day at dinner, I asked the Captain if he would point out The Southern Cross to me. He informed me that it was only visible in the middle of the night and asked if I wanted to be woken up to see it. "Of course", I said. The next morning, at 5:00 am, I heard a knock at the cabin door. It was the Captain himself!!! He was so happy to point out the constellation to me and I could imagine the sailors of years ago using those stars to navigate southern waters. The food in the ship was always delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. We returned to Nadi after 7 days feeling that we had just experienced something really special. The tissue box was passed around as the Crew sang "Isa Lei" the Fijian farewell song. I can't recommend this cruise highly enough.   Read Less

We had not been on an Ocean Cruise before and took this trip with some trepidation. The ship was what we expected and we were happy with our cabin. During the Cruise we stopped at either a beach or village every morning and again in the afternoon. We were never board and the activities were always well managed and arranged. One of the many highlights was snorkelling with the sharks on a reef, never though we would do that. However the best thing about the cruise was the Crew, we normally can pick out some outstanding people on our holidays but it would be unfair to name anyone in the Crew specifically They were all GREAT. From the Tender Driver to The Captain, The Bar Attendant to the Chief Engineer, the Waitress to The Chef. Not one person in the Crew was not exceptional. As a couple who was not sure if we would like being on a Cruise, We are already looking at booking another. Well done Blue Lagoon Cruises For employing exception people. Read Less
