We wanted to see Eastern Europe. The cruise was the most pleasant way to visit that part of Europe. Given the flexible departure/return airline dates we were able to explore both the Vienna/Salzburg area before the cruise and all of Romania after the cruise. We chose this cruise because of the history and the ports of call. We got to visit many UNESCO World Heritage sites. The crew of the Viking Atla was excellent. The food was outstanding. The included shore excursions were great. It was nice to leisurely cruise along the Danube. We loved the scenery in Germany, Austria and Hungary.
