Not enough activities, Princess excursions were poor, too much selling

Review for Regal Princess to Transatlantic

10+ Cruises

Age 70s

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary. All 3rd party tours were excellent. Thank you Alla (Baltic) & eCoach (Ireland). The Princess tour guides were generally poor. Complaints that the tour was not what the tour was supposed to have been and tour guides even being nasty, especially in AArhus. Complained and never heard a word about it. Not enough activities, lectures, movies. People always ...

10+ Cruises

Age 70s

We have travelled almost 60 days with Princess and have been very satisfied in the past...but something has changed. The food was uninspired and repetitive for such a long cruise. There was no organized bridge for 40-50 daily players--even though a dining room was eventually supplied along with cards, pencils and a few bidding boxes. On a previous long cruise, we had the room as well as ...

Took a chance on this Baltic cruise based on itinerary and calander, we've sailed on Princess before and wanted to see what the larger ships had to offer...going smaller next time. The large ships definitely have the glitz and glam but miss the personal feel we experience on Oceania and Windstar. Embarkation was a breeze taking all of 60 seconds. Gettting on in Warnemunde is easy when 90% of ...

Good accommodations. Excellent port selection. Poor onboard entertainment.

I chose this cruise because it stops in Oslo. Few cruise ships include this beautiful city into their baltic itinerary. If you want a complete baltic/scandinavian experience you cannot afford to skip Oslo. Regal Princess ship is very large but easy for passengers to move around it. Accommodations were comfortable and rooms were very clean. Food was ok. Portions were small but you could always get ...

Elbe River with Viking; Not as Good as Advertised

Review for Viking Fontane to Europe - River Cruise

10+ Cruises

Age 60s

This was our first river cruise. It went on the Elbe River - Berlin to Prague. The average age on this ship was people in their 70's. This, of course, slows down the pace and extent of the tours and limits the activities on the ship. This old ship, with limited facilities, does not represent Viking very well. The only exercise you get is on the land tours, and, as stated, the pace is ...

Glitzy and crowded

2-5 Cruises

I now know that I'm not a fan of big box cruises. The Regal is huge and jam packed. Not my thing. However, if you fancy big crowds, lots of flash aka Vegas, then it's the cruise for you. The staterooms are well appointed, yet small. I did appreciate the laundry mats on each floor. The food was mediocre as well as the service. Our stateroom stewards were exceptional while the dining staff ...

Elbe water levels low; be cautious when booking.

Believe what you read about the Elbe. She is not the Danube, the Rhine or the Volga. We read about low water levels prior to our trip and called Viking in California. They have mastered the art of the vague response with quotes like, "As far as we know now"; "Not at this time"; "Anything can happen"; and "It remains to be seen if...". When asked why the paddle steamers were apparently stuck at the ...

Lovely Cruise but Small Quarters

6-10 Cruises

Age 70s

The cruise, like all Viking cruises I've taken, was perfect, with helpful staff, informative and fun tours, and great food. However, I was disappointed in the size of the boat. I thought a smaller boat would be OK, but I felt like I saw the same faces everyplace I went. It was impossible to find a quiet space for reading or reflecting -- unless I stayed in the room, which was too small to be ...

MSC is not for us

2-5 Cruises

We have limited cruising experience (most recently Celebrity and years ago NCL and Princess) so we were very open minded when we choose MSC. We loved the itinerary as it was a repositioning cruisep that took us many interesting ports. The price was also quite good. We read that the food was not all that wonderful (true, it was adequate to sometimes good, but not great), that you will automatically ...

Good itinerary, not great ship

6-10 Cruises

Age 60s

The ship has its good points; we enjoyed the food, the entertainment and facilities. The service was very hit & miss aside from our cabin steward who was excellent. The passenger services desk is a fiasco, they don't answer their phones and as you get towards the front of a great long line they tell 'elite' passengers to cut in front of you. Given that people are generally in the line to sort out ...
