Viking Overpriced and Not Premium

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Viking Star

My wife and I chose Viking because it runs smaller ships and after three years without cruising believed this to be a safer option following COVID. This was our first time on Viking after 30+ cruises with other cruise companies. It was probably the worst. We made the decision to sail from Bergen to Montreal and then a second cruise from Montreal to New York 26 days in all. We saw the best and ...

Interested in the destinations and historical background of the region. The ports were interesting, and the guides were knowledgeable and fun. Our guides in the Shetland Islands and Quebec City were outstanding. Wished we could have spent some more time in Iceland, as a one-day stay was less than optimal. Because of weather (Farrow Islands) and a problem with distilling fresh water due to low ...

We choose this Viking Cruise (not river cruise) to see how Viking does compared to other cruise lines (particularly Regent, Oceania, Celebrity). Viking is getting (three years in a row) some very high marks in the "Cruising" industry. We thoroughly enjoyed our Viking experience but not necessariy "The Best"......... We loved not seeing the photography, casino, the art autions and liked the ...

Great All-Inclusive Cruise

Past good experiences and the newness of the ship contributed to our choice. The service is not 6 star and the food is not outstanding. Afternoon tea is well done. The excursions were adequate. The on board lectures were well presented and informative. Our cabin this time was the lowest category. On our first ocean cruise with Viking we had a penthouse category. The service was just ...

This was our first Viking cruise. We cruise about 5-6 weeks a year and usually cruise Celebrity but have also enjoyed Royal Caribbean. For a change of pace and because the reviews were good, we decided to give Viking Ocean a try. We booked the 14 night "In the Wake of Vikings" cruise from Bergen to Montreal. Well, let's just say we're not drinking the Viking Ocean Kool-Aid. We do not see the ...

We love the service, the food, and the ship. The crew are just very effective, very courteous and very pleasant. Martha, the Services Manager is excellent. She is so helpful. Food was great. All the cooks, service folks and the managers are very accommodating. We had a great time. The shows were great, very entertaining. The program manager, Aarean, is great. Port Talk is very helpful. He was ...

As with most of our adventures, this cruise was chosen with an eye to itinerary, schedule, and environment. A late season North Atlantic crossing, Bergen to Montreal, is almost guaranteed to be a nautical adventure. This cruise did not disappoint. The scheduled Faroes Islands stop became a "drive by" due to unfavorable winds and seas. Later that day and evening we were "privileged" to experience ...

The cruise was titled "In the Wake of the Vikings" as it followed the Vikings migration and exploration form Norway t North America. There were stops in the Shetland Islands, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland, New Foundland and Quebec. This Viking Ocean Cruises has set a new standard of excellence and quality in ocean cruising. This is our third cruise with Viking Ocean (Star Oct 2015; Sea May ...

We chose this cruise because of the route and stops on this cruise The cruise was from Bergen Norway stopping at the Shetland Islands, the Farro Islands, Iceland, Greenland, the Viking archeological site in Newfoundland, and then down the St.Lawrence River to Montreal. This was the first transatlantic crossing for the Viking Star which was first put into service in 2015 and had been in service in ...

Great Ship - Nice Itinerary - Some Service Issues

The ship is great and the food was awesome. There are no formal nights, no casino, and no photographers constantly bothering the passengers. There is one free shore excursion in every port. There is no up charge for the 2 specialty restaurants. Free wine & beer at lunch, dinner, and in your cabin. It is a great concept! The entertainment was very good, especially some of the guest performers. ...
