My wife and I chose Viking because it runs smaller ships and after three years without cruising believed this to be a safer option following COVID. This was our first time on Viking after 30+ cruises with other cruise companies. It was probably the worst.
We made the decision to sail from Bergen to Montreal and then a second cruise from Montreal to New York 26 days in all. We saw the best and ...
We appreciate you taking the time to detail your recent voyage, Carlisle Man, as such feedback allows us to better understand how to deliver the five-star experience for which we strive....
Even in times of corona, where the ship is maximum 60% full, the seats in the public areas are not enough. I would not want to travel on this or similar ships when 100% of its capacity can be used. Looking at the Norwegian coastline surely is beautiful but it’s also more or less the only thing you can do on board so it’s very disappointing if you can’t enjoy it properly because of not enough ...
I don’t think I’ll ever do the Hurtigruten again. First it was very expensive, over 5000 kr per person for a 36 hour trip from Bergen to Trondheim going through Geiranger. We ordered the Arctic Superior room which was twice as expensive as a standard room, but it just had a round port window. It was no better than standard rooms on a normal cruise ship. The Hurtigruten shouldn’t be thought of ...
Hurtigruten could be an interestingly different offer to typical cruise ships as they also provide ferry services along the Norwegian coast and you get to see some areas typical cruise ships would not visit. The itinerary is driven by the deliveries made at 34 ports during day and night - unfortunately that does not always cater well for cruising passengers. Some stops are much too short to ...
The Hurtigruten Classic Round Voyage with the Northern Lights Promise, 24 March to 4 April 2019 on the ship Polarlys.
Did we see the northern lights? That is a good question! Although we had some good daytime weather, the sky was cloudy for the first nine nights. Since Hurtigruten promise that we will see the lights, I predicted to my wife that on the tenth night (2 April), when the forecast ...
We chose to do a Hurtigruten trip as a once in a lifetime experience to see the Northern lights and to experience the beauty of the coastline from the comfort of the ship.

Unfortunately the first cabin we were allocated was the worst accommodation I have ever experienced, too small for two people ( to be frank only just acceptable for one) barely room to move past each other, storage space ...
Chose this due to fantastic marketing by Hurtigruten but the reality does not live up to the marketing. The Norwegian coast is not how it's portrayed in promotional material and the towns are not quaint fishing village types but industrial towns. Not very attractive. The food was OK and varied choices buffet style for breakfast and lunch. Set dinner served most nights, portion size small. Buffet ...
This was our first Viking cruise. We cruise about 5-6 weeks a year and usually cruise Celebrity but have also enjoyed Royal Caribbean. For a change of pace and because the reviews were good, we decided to give Viking Ocean a try. We booked the 14 night "In the Wake of Vikings" cruise from Bergen to Montreal.
Well, let's just say we're not drinking the Viking Ocean Kool-Aid. We do not see the ...
We appreciate the opportunity to respond to your review, GigemAggies, and are sorry to learn of your displeasure with your first Viking voyage. It is with regret that we hear of your...
This cruise was all about the scenery which was made even better by the near perfect weather. The food was quite good. They offer buffet breakfast and lunch. Dinner is table service with a fixed menu. They offer an a la carte service in a different dining room for an additional 500 - 800 NOK. I could never get an adequate explanation for what the value was for a different meal service. As best I ...
I chose this cruise because of the Northern Lights Astronomy Voyage theme. I am very satisfied with the lectures and viewings organized by Dr John Mason and Inger Carter and I would highly recommend their program.
However, Hurtigruten really fell through on there responsibility to provide services during the voyage. The cruise ship was obviously under-staffed as confirmed by personnel that I ...
