Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Viking Star

Ship - Elegant Scandinavian design, well built. Glass shower stall defect, poor soundproofing of TV sets, broken coffee machine in World Cafe entire trip. Engines probably not running at full power most of the trip. Excursions - Great port talks, poor coordination of shuttle service at Lisbon and Gibraltar, poor coordination with local tour operators in Paris, Gibraltar and Cartagena. Guest ...

Not my best cruise.

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Viking Star

I had heard good things about Viking. Was excited to sail the Med on the first cruise ships built by Viking. From the beginning: SFO SAS flight provided by the tour was delayed in SFO. The plane was dirty. Also, one of the toilets was not working for the entire flight. We arrived in Copenhagen LATE. MISSED our connecting flight to Bergen. Had to wait (mostly standing in a ...

Viking Ocean Cruises - You're a Work in Progress - Call Carnival for Help

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Star

We've sailed with Viking before, enjoying the impeccable ships, food and service. As active adults, we're "thinkers not drinkers" and enjoy the educational and cultural opportunities on such a cruise. We also cruise on the "big ships" with different expectations of accommodations and other passengers. Viking Star's opportunities abounded, when we read the literature - the beauties of the ...

Over marketed/underdelivered

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Star

This cruise was marketed as something special (and priced accordingly)- it wasn't! It is a nice ship, lots of common space per passenger. Great pool and winter garden area. State rooms were good size but did not have adequate storage and much of the space was wasted. Live TV did not work 10 of the 14 days. Internet service was free, which was what it was worth. Food in main dining ...

Great ship, great food. Crew members were great also. Pools were enjoyed whenever we could except the rusty tile that was in the pool. spa was nice except when the steam room went out for 4 days. hot tubs were not quite hot enough for my liking. beautiful countries but not even enough time to enjoy them. two days in St Petersburg Russia but you needed a visa to go on your own. so that ...

Beautiful Ship and Great Crew, but Too Many Bad Experiences

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Star

To begin with, we had a hard time booking the tours we wished to take. I can't believe complimentary tours could be "sold out"! Viking booked us on a flight from Chicago to JFK. What a disaster! No one knew where Norwegian Air was located for us to check in. It took our travel agent several months to finally get us seat assignments which we paid extra for. After lugging all our luggage from ...

We were very happy with all aspects of cruise with just a few exceptions. Dining room. We were instructed to use a hand sanitizer as we entered the dining room which was good. However, the bread was sliced by customers and most times did not bother to use the towel just bare hands. The cheese tray which was beautiful with many cheeses and fruits was also unprotected with people cutting and ...

Magnificent scenery and poor food

We are just home from a trip to Norway which featured a fjord cruise on the Trollfjord. My parents took a fjord cruise 35 years ago and raved about the incredible scenery; once again, my mother was right. My parents also commented on the less that wonderful food; I am starting to think that my mother was never wrong! The ship is very nice and run by a very able and efficient crew. The public ...
