Amazing scenery and very good staff

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Trollfjord

We chose the cruise on MS Trollfjord after seeing an article in a women's magazine the previous year. It was a Northern Lights cruise with Wildlife. Michael Strachan was on the ship for a few days which was an added attraction. We had to book through Iglu Cruises/Planet Cruise and felt that it would have been better to have booked directly with Hurtigruten. Iglu told us that one of the ...

I thought the classic round trip would give me the best opportunity to see the Northern lights. Overall the trip exceeded my expectations. The ship was very good and run in an efficient way. The staff were very hardworking, particularly the restaurant waiter service. Their language skills & friendly service were excellent. I cannot fault the choice and standard of food. Yes the excursions ...

A wonderful trip with very nice weather

The ship is a typical Hurtigruten ship. All the staff are very nice, the ship is not too big, the cabins are small, but dining is excellent. The weather was very good, the sevice also good. The trips to IceHotel is nice, the guide also, Vesteralen trip very good, also to northcup. Good and helpful explanations. Wir haben die ganze 12 tägige Reise sehr genossen, das Schiff war die ...

Xmas Cruise

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Nordnorge

My first time with Hurtigruten, and picked the Northern Lights cruise and to be away for Xmas/New Year. My expectation was that I would be on a merchant ship that takes passengers, how wrong was I. Clearly it was dual purpose with some nice refinements in the passenger areas for relaxation. Whilst the passenger to crew ratio is not that of a cruise liner, you would not know that, they all do ...

Not a cruise but a real ship

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Lofoten

User Avatar

First Time Cruiser • Age 50s

The Hurtigruten ships carry freight and passengers daily between many little towns along the coast of Norway. I travelled northbound, from Bergen to Kirkenes in winter and it was a beautiful trip. The days got shorter and shorter until the last day only had one hour of shimmering daylight. The whole coast was snowy white but the water doesn't freeze due to the warm gulf stream. The weather was ...

Nice cruise on a proper ship

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Lofoten

The Lofoten is a proper ship and there isn't the usual "floating hotel" level of activities and facilities. But there is a bar, a cafe, a very good restaurant and the scenery is outstanding. As she's a small vessel there is a lot of noise. I had one of the 400-cabins on the saloon deck and still had some engine noise and vibrations. I'd stay away from the rearmost cabins on the 100- and 200 decks ...

Searching the northern lights

To see the northern lights has been on the bucket list for a long time. We were concerned that Hurtigruten being a daily ferry service that it may be a bit basic, but we were pleasantly surprised that the ship is very well appointed, has plenty of comfortable lounges with large windows offering treat views. Food on board is good, not the same quality as we were used to on Celebrity, our normal ...

More than Perfect for lovers of pure nature and cruising close to the shore, but very much related on the weather. Every hour provides different views to the Norwegian Coast. Nice Ship. A huge amount of windows. 2 Deck Panorama to the front. You can walk around on Deck 6 without any barriers. Perfect Ship if you have a wheelchair. Lokal Crew. Not 100% service orientatded. Local ...

Our Third Viking Star Cruise

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Viking Star

On our first cruise aboard the Viking Star, we were totally impressed with this vessel. Beautiful lines; roomy cabins; happy, helpful staff; fabulous foods; great entertainment; soothing spa, etc. We took the Viking Star a second time when it cruised the Caribbean, simply because we were in love with the ship and, since we have been to the Caribbean over and over again, this time we took ...

Great ship; good excursions

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Viking Star

User Avatar

Great value for an itinerary that covered several areas that we had not visited before. The offer of two guests for one fare with free air was too great a temptation. The trip was excellent except for somewhat rough seas for a couple of days. It could have been a lot worse! The excursions were well planned, and for the most part were interesting and informative. The service on the ship ...
