I chose this cruise in order to explore the Norwegian coast, its islands, its scenery, its ports and its people. As a boating enthusiast I was also interested in the navigation of this `inside passage`, and the essential functions of this ship in linking many remote communities, transporting people and freight between them.
I was not disappointed on any of these counts. The journey was ...
We choose this Viking Cruise (not river cruise) to see how Viking does compared to other cruise lines (particularly Regent, Oceania, Celebrity). Viking is getting (three years in a row) some very high marks in the "Cruising" industry.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Viking experience but not necessariy "The Best".........
We loved not seeing the photography, casino, the art autions and liked the ...
Great range of excursions. Concert in Arctic Cathedral in Tromso a special experience. The chance to see the sea eagles up close not to be missed. Food was excellent quality, variety, fresh and typical of the regions we were sailing through. Staff always helful. Take warm gear as it rained or was windy even though technically summer. Arctic gets 4 days of summer and we missed them. The sunny days ...
We did 4 previous Viking cruises. The Into the Midnight Sun last year was outstanding. By that standard, this cruise was very good. The ships staff were excellent. The food and service were very good but not as excellent as the previous cruise. The train. Trip to Berlin was a bad experience, the train trip was too long in a coach with no air conditioning and no window curtains. The temperature was ...
Always wanted to do this trip. Slightly disappointed with the ship and cabin as used to cruise ships. Wasn't expecting that level of luxury obviously but still disappointed. Cabin spartan and very small. Ridiculous amount of space to get around the bottom of the bed. Not enough tea\milk etc. Got fed up with asking for more. Food lovely. If you don't like the dinner menu you can change it. ...
Dining
Breakfast
A wide variety of food some of it appetizing and some of it not.
Lunch
Towards the end of the trip it was a little repetitive for the smorgasbord at lunch.I think they tried hard for variety but I guess it depends on whats available. There was some attempt at providing for gluten and lactose free diets. There was always some alternatives just not a lot of ...
I choose this cruise because I wanted to see the fjords of Norway and it was magical. The people working on board was smiling and very helpful. The food was excellent. The cabin was small but very clean. There were lots of different excursions some more expensive than other. I did travel on my own but I talked with other people. The wheater was cold because I traveled in marts so take this in ...
It was something we had always wanted to do and the lovely relaxed atmosphere on the ship, together with good service, lovely food, wonderful weather, made it almost perfect. We went to some lovely towns and liked the fact that there were lots of opportunities to get off the ship and look around, as well as the really great excursions. Although we didn’t get to see the Northern Lights, the ...
The journey with Hurtigruten on the MS Finnmarken was the most wonderful I ever made.
The norwegian fjords are fantastic and this fresh arctic air makes you stay on the upper deck all day, you get addicted to it.
Most comfortable thing was the sauna and the two jaccuzis on the rear deck - it is too lovely to sit in the hot tub and see the ship leaving Kristiansund or Tromso or whatever!! ...
We chose this cruise as Hurtigruten is well known and can get into all the smaller fiords, although the ship was delayed into Bergenwhich was quite stressful after having a long day travelling .. the cabin 630 mini. Suite was lovely although we didn’t have a full bed change the whole of our 11 nights... dining was ok food was good but the food was not replenished quick enough people was waiting ...
