Viking did it again, just returned from our 4th Viking cruise, 3 previous river cruises and this was our first ocean cruise! Everything was wonderful, our cabin, the dining, the friendly and competent staff and of course the ports and shore excursions! We love that there are no children and all of the supplemental lectures and great onboard entertainment, The embarkation procedure was very easy - best ocean cruise experence with it yet! I used the spa for a wonderful deep tissue massage. We really enjoyed Manfredi's restaurant, but were less thrilled with the Chef's Table, but perhaps it was the menu that was available on the night we went. Overall, food was outstanding! We had beautiful weather from start to finish! We traveled with two good friends who also had a wonderful time. Our next Viking cruise is also an ocean cruise to the Mediterranean - Barcelona to Rome...can't wait! Read Less

So here is a (long) review of the Viking Sun Homelands cruise we just finished this week. I tried to break it all down as best I could. I would highly recommend anyone who would like this amazing experience to book it! Final views of Viking Homelands Cruise 1- We are aware that our joy about this holiday is influenced by the wonderful and unusual weather we experienced for the entire 32 days in Europe (except misty in Iceland and 50 F) (we spent 10 days in the U.K. with family). The temps were mid 70’s to high 80’s the whole time, with only one 5 minute rain shower in Stockholm. 2- Viking Sun. The ship is amazing. It is well laid out, and well decorated. The hard working staff is always cleaning and polishing. We enjoyed the pianist Olga, the string group, and Luis the guitarist being in different lounges each evening. The nightclub was fun each night and a great place to wind down. Iskra was the bartender who kept up with us- we had Silver Spirits drink package and it was nice to be able to experience different drinks whenever. (Rule of thumb- if you drink 2-3 liquor or upgraded wines per day, it is $$ worthwhile). 3- Stateroom. We had a Penthouse Veranda room- perfect size, lots of storage and drawers. Our cabin steward Fery and his assistant Jayson kept up with our every need. 4- Entertainment. We were very impressed with the quality of the evening entertainment. The cruise director, Bevin, and his assistant Matthew were everywhere! From morning excursions to port talks to evenings, they were always on point for what passengers needed. The entertainment in the theater included a magician, a comedian, and a singer that has played Jean Valjean in Les Mis in West End, so you know he is a powerful talent. The resident production team consisted of 4 highly talented and energetic performers who rocked the theater with a 69’s show, a musicals themed show and a Beatles/ABBA show (we WERE in Stockholm). They were also consistently visible and great ambassadors for the ship. There were other activities during the days and evenings- history and art lectures, team trivia, dance lessons, and more. 4- Food. We ate mostly at the World Cafe buffet- always great choices- sushi, crab legs, shrimp, Prime rib, mussels, tenderloin, oysters, whatever. The menus were posted on the online app so you could make your decision. We ate at the main restaurant a few times, the pool grill a few times, and Manfredi’s, the Italian specialty place once. It was fantastic. We didn’t get to the Chefs Table, the specialty restaurant with a set menu that changes every 2 or 3 days- the day we had reservations, Dennis wasn’t feeling very well- he caught a cold and was not up to it. 5- Shore excursions. We took mostly the included Viking and they were so well organized. Every stop had a free walking or bus tour, plus shuttles included if needed to get into and out of town. One of the best was the Berlin included- we thought we would be dumped on a train, dumped in Berlin, and then find our way back to the train on our own. Instead, the train was chartered and we had a local guy with us the whole time. When we got to Berlin, we were given an orientation bus tour for an hour before we were let off at a central square to wander on our own. After 2 hours or so, we met back at the square, and were bussed to the train. On the train back, we were served wine, beer and snacks, complimentary. It was much more than we expected for the free inclusion. We took 2 of the Viking paid excursions- Pulpit Rock and the Flam railroad. I would recommend both of those. We did a 2 day highlights tour with SPB tours in St Petersburg, which also gave us an evening out with “Go Out Like a Local”- we went to some trendy bars with a 30 something guide and then took an evening canal cruise- private boat- just 5 of us plus our guide, Russian rock music and a bottle of vodka. Skol! 6- a bit about each stop -Iceland. We did the pre-extension but Viking had us in a hotel too far from town. The Golden Circle was remarkable, with the plate tectonics going on, and the volcanic landscapes got the science geology nerd in me all happy. The Blue Lagoon was quite an experience as well -Bergen. Norway was on my bucket list and I understand why. The scenery all through Norway is breathtaking. Take the funicular up to the top of the mountain for great views. -Other 2 stops in Norway. Eidfjord has the Flam railroad which goes up and around the mountains and waterfalls. At Stavanger, we took the small boat out to look straight up those glacially formed cliffs. -Aalborg was just a few hours but another quaint medieval town. Copenhagen was a bit bigger and we took the walking tour and then a canal cruise. -Talinn Estonia- the history of that region is tough. The economy is struggling because of trade problems -Berlin- train and a chance to experience the history of a crazy man and his demented dreams and then how the Cold War took a toll on those in east Berlin. -Gdansk Poland. Another chunk of history. The ship was berthed at the spot where WW2 began. Sobering. Take a look at the Polish amber- it’s very beautiful -St Petersburg- this was actually my least favorite place, but a visit I wouldn’t have changed for anything. This is a huge city, crazy traffic, so many tourists, so much standing in line to get into all the important spots- Hermitage, Catherine’s Palace, Peterhof, Spilled Blood. -Helsinki- One of my favorite places. Very laid back, nice port town. Lots of green space and very nice people -Stockholm- Tied with Bergen for my favorite. This is a great city that doesn’t seem so big. Hop On Hop Off will get you anywhere you want to go. We stayed here a few extra days because there was so much to see here, and the cruise was ending. Vasa Museum, Abba Museum, IceBar- so much to see! All in all= I'm in the Viking cult! I have drunk the Koolaid and I'm all in. We have booked a river cruise for 2020. Hooray! Read Less

Viking cruise line lived up their reputation as being extremely fabulous!! Great ambiance! Great staff- so eager to please! Wonderful food! Informative tours! Viking does it right!!!! We took advantage of every included excursion! It would have been nice if they were more than just a couple stops for photo ops though! We especially enjoyed many of the waiters in The Restaurant! They were so polite and eager to please! The food was very good and menu selections were very adequate!! We loved Manfredi’s and the Italian restaurant! Nice to have variety! The ship was very beautiful! It was kept impeccably clean by the very hard working cleaning staff! Our room steward was so friendly and always considerate and polite! We so enjoyed our first ocean cruise and have booked two more! We have and will continue to recommend the Viking cruise line the family and friends! It is a pricey cruise line but so much is included- which helps!! Giving sizable price breaks/incentives to repeat customers would be very appreciated! We flew SAS- as arranged by Viking! NEVER AGAIN!! Horrible flight home!!! They lost our luggage for 6 days!!! Many we spoke with shared our concerns! They agreed and advised - avoid SAS!!!!! Read Less

Ship and amenities were all first class. The crew and restaurants were outstanding. Enjoyed the lectures and port talks, especially Michael Scott. Embarkation and disembarkation went very smooth and on board Services even arranged for a car to take us to our stop over in London. Great help so everything went smooth. I can't say enough about the Ship, from the decor, facilities, crew, shopping and especially the entertainment. The pianist , guitar player and all the entertainment was so very enjoyable. Our cabin was great, roomy and our cabin attendant Alvin? couldn't have been nicer. It seemed like he always had the little extra that was needed. Even though the weather and fog kind of worked against us somewhat the cruise was still such a joy because of the ship, crew and the little things that made it so enjoyable. It was nice also to have so many extras built into the cruise package, like the drinks at lunch and dinner meals. Our dinning room attendants and servers were above and beyond, "Vicky and his helpers" were outstanding. We just hated to leave the Ship. Looking forward to our next adventure. Read Less

The itinerary was exactly what we were looking for. Having an overnight in Bergen, Norway at the beginning and another overnight in Greenwich, London at the end of the cruise was an added plus. Cruising several Norwegian fjords up to the North Cape over the Arctic Circle was on our bucket list. We also enjoyed our time in the Shetlands, Orkneys, and Edinburgh. The Viking Sea is the most beautifully appointed ship that we've cruised on. Our cabin was very comfortable and the public areas were quiet and plentiful. Although the weather and seas were mostly calm, the Viking Sea was very smooth and quiet. The food was excellent, although the service in the main dining room tended to be very slow. We found an excellent waiter, Nagesh, who tried very hard, but he didn't seem to get the help he needed from his assistant. We found the resident historian to be excellent. The shore excursions were mostly excellent, although those that were included as free tended to be somewhat superficial. in all we would definitely sail on the Viking Sea or another Viking ship. We had had such a wonderful experience on Viking River Cruise, we decided to try the ocean cruise. It was more than we could have ever imagined. We enjoyed several days of the “Midnight Sun” and experienced the unbelievable beauty of Norway. The staff made us feel so special. The service was exceptional. With only 940 guests on the ship, you could always find a quiet place to curl up and read a book. This cruise is perfect for people who want to have time away from children, casinos and photographers. You won’t find any of them on Viking. Perfect get away for couples. Allows you time to focus on each other. There is always plenty to do. Great shore excursions, both included, or extras - or you may just want to spend some time relaxing at the pool or in the spa. The food was amazing! Service exceptional. I will never use another cruise line! Read Less

Had an Interest in the area that the cruise covered, Iceland, Norway, Shetland Islands, Orkney Island, Edinburgh, Scotland, England..Had done a previous Viking River Cruise and was impressed with the accommodations and the service so decided to try an ocean cruise with Viking. Really enjoyed the pre cruise option of several days stay with included tours in Iceland. The Geysir hot springs and the Blue Lagoon were some of the places along with the Golden Circle Tour. Great and knowledgeable land guide in Iceland. The staff on board ship were very friendly and helpful, always greeting you with a smile and asking if you needed anything. The ship is very clean and well maintained. The food options were varied with choices for every taste. They accommodated my husband special diet without any fuss or extra work on our part. Wine, if you wished to have it, was included at dinner at no extra cost. The cabin was comfortable with a small sitting area with two chairs and a coffee table and a outside veranda. Our refrigerator was refilled daily with our selection of beverages.Liked the heated bathroom Floor and the king size very comfy bed. There was an included tour in every port but there were also optional tours available. Found all of the tours guides very knowledgeable of the area of the tour. Read Less

Their cruise ship was no exception ... our 15 days were pure heaven..: We appreciated the relaxed atmosphere, good food, outstanding nightly entertainment, educational tours and much more! The staff were so happy to please and take care of our every need. Our cabin was very comfortable, and simply decorated. We especially liked the luxurious bathroom with the heated floor. The entertainment was outstanding and we loved the English tenor, Lee Bradley, that was brought in to perform for two concerts. The food was outstanding and we particularly enjoyed the fresh fish cooked on deck. The speciality restaurants were fine but we preferred the World Cafe for a more relaxed dining experience and preferred the open seating experience. We can’t wait to go on another Viking Cruise! Loved the bands that welcomed us in some of the ports. What a fun event to watch. The excursions were very nice but since we had to change our trip dates we didn't get to see as many things as were available because they were sold out. Excursions we went on were very interesting. The food choices at meals were very good. I especially liked the food that was customary in ports. Great job by all the serving staff for taking care of our drink needs. Loved the spa. A 5 star experience in every category. The food was excellent and plentiful. The staff accommodating, friendly and approachable. Excursions reasonable and interesting. The Spa was incredible! The service was tip-notch! Pre-cruise stopover in Iceland was excellent. Staff met us at airport and provide orientation on bus ride to hotel. A hot, full breakfast awaited us at the hotel. Transport back to airport, though early in the morning, was timely. Welcoming in Bergen was warm and well coordinated. We did not see Our bags again until they were in our cabin. Embarkation was hassle free and very quick. Lunch ready upon arrival and we were out tiring within an hour of boarding. First dinner was at Manfredi's specialty restaurant and was remarkable in terms of food and service. A great way to start the cruise. Twelve hour excursion to Berlin was well coordinated and the private train was a nice touch. Read Less

About 5 years ago I went on the same cruise in January up the coast of Norway all the way to the Russian border, everything gleamring in the snow. It was so beautiful that I wanted to see it in the summer, and wasn’t disappointed. Totally different but stunning all the same. The Hurtigruten Line is very well organised. Joining the cruise in Bergen and disembarkation at the end is done with military precision. The facilities on board are a delight and the food is a dream. Both breakfast and lunch are buffet style but I defy anyone to be unable to find suitable food wherever in the world you come from. Dinner was a set menu with allocated tables. The service staff are quick and efficient and friendly. I can only report on my own cabin experience but I was more than happy. I was fortunate to have an upgrade from inside to outside cabin with a window. I suspect it was because it was my second voyage with Hurtigruten Cruise line. The cabin was well equipped but I did take a little travel kettle, tea and coffee and dried milk. I like a cup of tea as soon as I rise in the morning. The excursions are numerous and, again, well organised. As for entertainment it’s not like the big cruise ships by any means, there are regular lectures about everything Norwegian, from wildlife, oil production, myths and legends, fishing etc. These lectures are entertaining and well presented. There’s the Crossing the Artic Circle ceremony attended by King Neptune, which, if you dare to participate, ends with you having a jug full of cold water and ice cubes tipped down the back of your neck, so beware. The one thing I will say is that Norway is a very expensive country to visit. You have to be prepared for high prices for anything on board over and above the full board costs already paid for. Having said that it is a wonderful experience. Read Less

We have just arrived in Waremunde, Germany from a 7 day Fjord Cruise on Costa Favolosa. When we first considered Costa as part of our 6 month tour of Europe we were very hesitant. We had sailed three times previously on Costa and we vowed never to sail Costa again. Money being the driving force for this trip, finalized our decision. Keeping in mind our previous experiences with Costa, coupled with their low review ratings, we decided to set sail with very low expectations. Much to our surprise, this trip exceeded our expectations in every area. I want to begin by acknowledging the Hotel Director, Ingrid Happ, Housekeeping Manager, Vincent Braganza and Cruise Director, Naim Ayub. What a fabulous team! From the minute we arrived at the port in Bergen Norway, these 3 professionls went above and beyond to ensure our embarkation was smooth and pleasant. After seeing these 3 in action, I had a gut feeling things were going to be okay. They were fabulous!! We ate in all the dining venues. The food was superb. We did not have one bad meal. The staff at the bars, dining room, lido deck and Chocolatier were amazing. The entertainment from Duo Fiesta, George and Jean Luc were phonomenal. Our room steward Yulia was the best. Special thanks to Victor, and most of all to Marife Rivera and Ron Kasiaro Purba the best bar staff in the cruise industry. The shows were fabulous! The entertainers hired for the shows in Hortensia Theater with the exception of Martin the Magician were top of the line. The animation team were energetic, fun and great! The Brindiamo Drink Package was included in with the price of our room. Although, the ship was full to capacity, we never had an issue getting drinks. In fact, we may have drank too much. Finally, the only sour note in this entire trip was our dining room server. She worked like a robot with no attention to detail or desire to please her guest. We gave her the benefit of the doubt but after a few nights we opted for the Lido Deck freesyyle dining. Overall it was a great cruise and has changed our opinion about future sailings with Costa. Being able to open the door between our veranda and the one of our traveling companions provided us a chance to share the experience. The service we received during the whole cruise, from our cabin staff and all staff members on the rest of the ship was what we have come to expect from Viking - friendly and professional They do a great job of representing Viking. Only problem with the shore excursions was there were "too many and not enough time, We especially like the Fram train trip into the fiords of Norway. Beautiful way to begin our adventure. We like this trip itinerary. Ship was very nice and clean. Every restaurant food was great. Room service was fantastic. We love spa. This is our first ocean cruise with Viking, we did River cruise with Viking before. We thought this ship is very small, once we arrived at port Viking sun is pretty big size and inside there are everything what we need and everywhere is enough spaces. Excursion of each port event are nice organized for city tour and proper duration for walking tour. Weather was much nicer than what we expected in May, every 8 country we were traveling sunshine and good temperature. Most of the top, we like no casino on ship and no children around. All staffs of ship are very kindness and knowledgeable what should know about their duty. I had bad experience with one of lady at front desk(passenger service desk) otherwise every where every staff are wonderful . We enjoyed very much this "Viking home land" itenaries and we wish stayed more over night at St. Petersburg. Read Less

Our experience on the Richard With exceeded our expectations. The food was amazing and fabulous. The cabin was comfortable and the public rooms very nice and attractive. The scenery must be the best in the world.! The crew could not have been more pleasant. Of course alcohol bought onboard was expensive but it is everywhere in Norway. The breakfast & lunch buffets were out of this world, and the served meal in the evening very tasty. If you saw something on the menu in the morning you did not like, you could ask for something else for that evening. The ports were interesting, the embarkation easy, the talks interesting. Disembarkation in Kirkenes was a bit slow and crowded but not a problem. I think this was unusual. We did not take any excursions but liked to wander around ports on our own. We were lucky with perfect weather. Mu husband says that everything was "splendid, an extraordinary time, and we enjoyed it thoroughly." The 6 nights were expensive in our view at first but by the end we felt it was good value for the money. Read Less

Love the Viking Ocean Ships. Everything adults would love, lounges, restaurants and entertainment and well traveled passengers. It is port intensive and allows you to visit the most important cities in England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Norway. Plenty of time to stay at the ports to look around on your own. Perfect for seasoned travelers. Lounges are well positioned inside and outside of the ship. Restaurants are varied and comprehensive in food choice. Service is excellent. It was our fourth Viking Ocean Cruise and we have two more scheduled in the next two years to South America/Caribbean and Adriatic cruise around Italy to Venice the Adriatic Sea and on to Greece. Flights were arranged by Viking and were prefect for us from the mid-west. We were familiar with some staff which we had met on prior cruises and the service was superior. Our stateroom was well appointed with plenty of room for our luggage and clothes. We will continue to cruise on Viking Ocean cruises. Read Less

I was going to start my review with the comment, "I read somewhere that $20 Billion of Internet business was lost due to bad, slow, incomprehensible websites, and I was sure that Hurtigruten was included" They had the worst website in the world Wonder of wonders, the website has changed completely, Its now one of the best Even with the old website, if you followed through you ended up with the holiday of a lifetime. It was on my wife’s bucket list and this year we made it. Much more expensive than when we started off, but once you have invested in the airfare and the boat, go for every excursion you can afford, and some you can’t. It’s a one off. Norway suffers because it exports oil and salmon and as a result it currency is way over valued. Typical is the cost of wine and beer. The wine package is a bottle of own label at £45 per day per person and beer is £10 a bottle. It’s all taxes I’m afraid. We decided to go teetoal and spend the money on more excursions and have to admit we felt better for it. The food is fantastic. Everything is locally sourced and the chef buys 250 to 300 kg of fresh salmon each trip. Breakfast and lunch are buffets, unfortunately the basics are the same every day so after 11 days you feel like a change. Diner changes and the menu tells you where the ingredients came from (again all local). The food overall is excellent. On one occasion, taking a clean shirt from the suitcase and putting it on, I was unable to do the buttons up. I think I put on about 4 kg. The boat is very informal, with a mixture of nationalities. Quite a few Americans who had come to see where their grandparents had emigrated from. The boat had an expedition team who were excellent and had perfect diction in all languages. My wife’s german has definitely improved. They not only run the excursions but also gives short talks on deck pointing out points of interest. The book says that excursions cannot be changed, but our team was very understanding and happily swapped trips for us. The scenery is fantastic, We did not have midnight sun, but you could read a book at midnight. The light colour is more like winters in the south of France, and coming south I was amazed at how dark it was at 3 in the morning. I just wasn’t used to it. VIKING SKY HOMELANDS REVIEW APRIL 28, 2018 VOYAGE We were 2 couples (65+) on this wonderful cruise. Having 8 countries and 11 cities to visit was amazing. Previously we had been on 3 Viking River Cruises together, so this was our first ocean cruise, All agreed it was a great trip. Viking handled everything from beginning to end perfectly. An amazing itinerary. Great ship, excellent dining, an exceptional crew, a rating of 9.5/10!! 1. PRE CRUISE IDEAS Do research using Rick Steves “Northern European Cruise Ports”. Go on line and look at YouTube Videos of all ports and those by Rick Steves. Search past Cruise Critic postings. Many CC posts contain useful information like a complete set of the Viking Daily for a 2016 Homelands cruise. Some menus have been posted as well. Lots of good stuff on CC. 2. STUDYING VIKING MATERIALS Go over the Viking website for information about each port and the various excursions. Reading the first 40 pages of the big Viking Ocean Brochure helps getting a perspective of the ship and may answer many questions you have. Look at the back pages for the “Deck Plans” to get a feel for where places are located. Helps to have a “heads up” advance to the cruise. 3. If you want to explore beyond the Viking Included Excursions, plan ahead. Cities like Helsinki, Copenhagen, Berlin, Stockholm, & St. Petersburg have a lot to see. 4. Some of the day by day things we did. Day Date Description Port Arrival Port Depart FRI APR 27, 2018 Depart Newark, NJ (EWR) – Economy SAT APR 28, 2018 Arrive Bergen, Norway (BGO) SAT @ 11:30 a.m. arrive on Viking Sky Veranda - 3088 SUN APR 29, 2018 Bergen, Norway 07:00 PM If the first day is clear (we had a lot of rain) walk into town and do the funicular ride up Mount Floyen. Spectacular views. Return by 30-40 minute hike down or get the round trip (senior) tickets (one way was $6.50 pp). Day 2, we did the included bus tour, funicular, walk around town. MON APR 30, 2018 Eidfjord, Norway 07:00 AM 07:00 PM Took the pricey “Scenic Flam Railway” excursion. DO IT. It one of best “once in lifetime” excursions. Shuttle bus back to boat for lunch. Quick out to shuttle bus back to town. Walked along the famous Stroget, longest pedestrian shopping street in Europe. Got to City Hall and Tivoli. Shuttle bus back to ship by 6 p.m. FRI MAY 04, 2018 Berlin, Germany 06:00 AM 06:30 PM In Berlin we did our own thing. Viking does a great train ride in and out to Berlin. It includes a 1.5 hr or so bus tour. We skipped it having done it another time with Viking. Instead, from the arrival train station we took the S-Bahn metro towards the Reichstag. Walked along the Spree River to get there. Had reservations for a public free audio tour of the Reichstag. (Do reservations online). Picnic lunch in the park. Short walk to the Brandenbugh Gate. Long walk along the Unter Den Linden, then to the return Viking bus located outside the Hilton Hotel by far end of the Gendarmenmarkt. While waiting to load the return buses to the train, at the nearby Dom Curry, try the local Curry Wurst Sausage with a side of excellent sweet potato fries plus a roll (7.40 euros). SAT MAY 12, 2018 Depart Stockholm, Sweden (ARN) SAT MAY 12, 2018 Arrive Newark, NJ (EWR) 5. Some tips-things we learned Being in the lower Veranda Deck cabin meant we had the last choice for selecting Included Excursions. Knowing this I got on-line at 3 a.m. EST when the day arrived for us to book the Included Excursions. In the big cities we wanted the earliest time slots. Many were “Sold Out”. Some we got the first time slots out. Others a little later. Stockholm had no early time slots available. I contacted Viking about my issues. Viking indicated that as we got closer to the cruise, there could be more slots available as well as people canceling. To some extant this did happen. In particular Stockholm, Viking added a whole new list of time slots. TIP- Check every day for included excursion openings and changes. DINNER RESERVATIONS AT SPECIALTY RESTAURANTS. Our cabin V-2 Veranda did not have pre-cruise reservations. On board the first night we did make reservations for Manfredi’s and the Chef’s Table in person at the front desk of the World Café. Better yet, use the on screen capability in your cabin to make reservations. It also gives the daily menus for all dining venues. We had 2 visits to each specialty restaurants. There were a number of tables that never got occupied. Suggest you go directly to the venue you want and see if they will seat you. Dining- You will not go hungry on this cruise. The World Café (deck) is causal and buffet. The wait staff supply drinks and table clearing. Always there. The Restaurant is a fixed menu with a more formal sit down service. The selection of entrees at dinner from the World Café is large. It also has a nice Sushi selection, good size shrimp and crabs legs. You will see all this when you get there. It’s all very good. Recommend Chef’s Table the “Asian Panorama” menu. At Manfredi’s try the bistecca fiorentina-rib eye steak. ENJOY AND HAVE FUN Read Less

My wife and I are seniors and we enjoy the historical aspect of cruising and this was perfect for that. The food on board was great as well as the food in each of the cities we visited. We attended all the land excursions as well as optional excursions we purchased. We also participated in both the pre and post cruise excursions. They were all wonderful. The only thing was my wife would have liked more time for shopping. The service was outstanding. The staff and officers made us feel like we were traveling with family. This was also the case on the 28 day Viking European Sojourn river cruise we attended in 2017. We still communicate with the staff and officers of both cruises. We now have been on Viking river cruises and ocean cruises. We have Viking cruises scheduled through 2020 and are looking for more. We have been on other ocean and river cruises in the past and none compare to the quality and professionalism provided by Viking. I recommend Viking cruises to anyone wanting to cruise. Read Less

Have traveled to over 30 countries (Asia,Canada,Europe, S. America & Alaska) but only Iceland in Scandinavia! So, discovered this extensive, well priced cruise with Viking! My wife and I were "blown away" by the overall amenities of the vessel, the caring, friendly crew and the unique design of our ship! Never experienced such genuine, kind, caring to every detail from each and every crew member! Our ship was maintained in "spotless" detail throughout our journey. From greeting us at our arrival airport in Bergen, Norway until our departure in Stockholm Sweden positive, overall experience was beyond our highest expiation. The food selection, service and quality, was the finest we had ever experienced on any previous cruises with other cruise lines! The design and beauty of our vessel was truly breath taking! Having a laundry facility on each deck was/is unique to Viking also, especially when taking a 10 day+ trip. Other cruise lines charge for laundry services, but not Viking! Which naans you will not have to pack so many clothes fro the longer journeys. Additionally, the free, "included" trips at each port resulted in big savings and ease of selection. The inclusive airfare and "to & from" planning, plus Viking's staff meeting & greeting you upon arrival at your departure port was/is flawless! In short "they do it all"! All we had to do was print our flight boarding passes and show up at our local, small town airport! Have now booked our second cruise for this year with Viking, traveling to China and japan from Hong Kong on October 6th! Can't wait for our second Viking cruise experience!! Read Less

I chose this cruise because I have traveled with Viking before on a River Cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam. I was very pleased with Viking and wanted to try an ocean cruise. I liked the itinerary on this cruise. We went to eight countries: Norway, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Estonia, Russia, Finland and Sweden. We also added on three days in Iceland on our return. We were happy that the ship spent two days in St. Petersburg so we could attend an evening performance of the ballet. The ship was beautiful and our room was large and lovely. We had great service throughout the ship. The friendliness of the staff made it pleasant for everyone. The food was delicious. We especially liked Manfredi's and also enjoyed Mamsen's and the Pool Grill. The entertainment was enjoyable. And the excursions offered were varied and pleasant. I would recommend this cruise and I would especially recommend Viking. In fact I have already booked another cruise to the Mediterranean with Viking. Read Less

Positive experience with Viking River cruises,ad us try a Ocean. We are now booked for Ocean to Alaska and Tuscany,Venice and the Adriatic!. Great food, excellent cabin amenities, service and cleaning. Public areas are terrific and very comfortable. We loved the specialty restaurants, the buffet and the dining room. Open seating is a great way to meet people at breakfast and lunch. The shore excursions were well organized, meaningful and interesting. Viking always makes you feel like royalty. We are even looking at 128 day around the world cruise and many more Ocean cruises. May also adds couple of River cruises in Russia and the lower portion of the Danube. We really love all included pricing. Read Less

The cruise was in celebration of our 50th wedding anniversary. These areas in Northern Europe were the last areas that we had not visited in Europe. This was our first cruise and in comparison to what others have said about cruises, this was the premier of cruise lines. the set up of the travel to the ship and all of the port visits was very well corrigraphed. Our room was beautiful and very functional. the heated floors in the bathroom made for the perfect morning wake up and being ready for breakfast. The dining was the best of the best with a variation that matched the areas we visited. We could not have asked for anything better. One of the nice things were the cultural events that occurred prior to our port visits. These gave us some insight into what was coming on the tours. Personnel service was of top quality. Over all the best of the cruise lines, we will be traveling with you again. Read Less

Our Family is from Scandinavia so my Sister and I decided that we would like to see where our heritage originated. It was my first cruise so I didn’t have any prior expectations. WOW!! I now know what it feels like to be treated like Royalty. Every single crew member we encountered made us feel like we were the only people on the ship. The excursions were amazing and the guides so knowledgeable about their country. The buses were comfortable and the windows large enough to see all the sites. All activities were organized to impeccable precision. If anyone didn’t find something to do, they were not on our ship. The flexibility of restaurant choices and the 24 hour room service met all of our needs. The food was 5 Stars. Our Stateroom hosts were present and accommodating to our every request. The Stateroom was spacious and the views from the Veranda were breathtaking. Read Less

Primarily chose this cruise because of family Scandinavian background, previous travels in eastern and inland Norway, desire to see St. Petersburg and outstanding previous experiences with Viking river and ocean cruises. Embarkation and disembarkation were handled very smoothly, the ship is beautifully designed and equipped with a relaxed and roomy feel. Specialty restaurant dining is at no extra charge and very good, although the main dining room and World Cafe buffet dining and service are also excellent. Ports of call and shore excursions were all interesting and the excursions all handled very well. We also very much enjoyed the enrichment activities, particularly the excellent Viking era and Russian imperial historical reviews presented by excellent speakers. Our Penthouse Veranda category cabin was very comfortable and we especially appreciated the complementary self-serve launderette on each deck on this two week cruise. We have enjoyed the Viking ocean cruises and have already booked a 2020 Australia/New Zealand cruise on Viking Orion. Read Less
