We chose this cruise for the Northern Lights but mother nature chose not to participate, which is nobodies fault & a chance you take.
The disappointing part was the cost of excursions & drinks. We only did 1 excusion as our other was cancelled.Check if your package includes tea & coffee, as a lot didnt have this. Not to mention the hours sitting onboard spent playing cards or reading, as nothing ...
Came on board to accompany a friend and to see the beautiful landscape of Norway.
Get ready for many non smiling passengers. The staff can be found doing multiple job assignments. Your room can be attended to by the wait staff.
I was happy that our server was attentive to special dietary restrictions. Most speak English fairly well and one guide spoke 6 languages. He seemed like the most ...
I chose this cruise because it was the only one I could find that went all the way up the coast of Norway, through the fjords.
Highlights: Bergen (Embarkation Port); Geiranger with Trollstigen Pass Excursion; Calm water in the fjords; Crossing the Arctic Circle; Visiting the North Cape (one of the northernmost point son the European continent); Great hiking trails in every port. The 5:00pm ...
We chose Hurtigruten's Norwegian Fjord Cruise North for our 25th wedding anniversary. We traveled as a family of 4 and researched fjord offerings fairly extensively among various cruise lines. We chose Hurtigruten because we generally are not a cruise family and do not prefer the glam and shows of most cruise lines as your are herded from one end of the vessel to the other. Hurtigruten's ...
Embarkation easy and trouble free, food very good breakfast and lunch buffet main meal in the evening served by waiting staff. Cabin size small but adequate no tv no radio in our cabin cleaning not great and bedding never changed I eventually had to ask at reception for new bedding 9 days into cruise and to have the cabin hoovered. The ship layout was good and there are plenty of trips if you are ...
We have just returned from a South to North trip. Some of the experiences were great, the ship was comfortable and the crew friendly but we will not be going again in the late spring for the wildlife as we'd originally intended. From the UK everything is very, very expensive. More than we'd anticipated. £10 for a lager, £40+ for a run of the mill Pinot Grigio, £80-£100 for a 2 hour sightseeing ...
I went with a friend to see the northern lights.
Transfers were smooth.
The cabin ( a mini suite) was just adequate. I would have hated being in one of the smaller cabins. Cleanliness was just ok. Norovirus was rife on the ship and I felt the cleaning of the public places (eg hand rails, chairs) left a lot to be desired. Pool and Jacuzzi closed because of Norovirus
The music on deck 8 ...
Word of mouth from friends and positive reviews led to us taking this cruise. Knew it was not going to be a 'luxury' cruise and a working ship. The Hurtigruten booking staff were excellent to deal with online and will do other bookings e.g. rail and transfers etc. Embarkation and disembarkation done well. The scenery is stunning and seeing Northern Lights on 4 separate occasions makes it a fine ...
This is a beautiful ship with very friendly helpful staff. It's very noisy during the night as it docks numerous times. I went in November and it was dark from 11am so there was absolutely nothing to see at all. It was like this for 6 days so a complete waste of time. The excursions were very expensive and a waste of money.....why go up a mountain to a viewing point in a snow blizzard when you ...
Everything was OK with the boat, food, cabin (we would have liked one double bed instead of 2 beds apart!) and services on board.
Just one thing to complain about: We were booked on the Dog sledding in Kirkenes. Some others were supposed to do it in Tromsoe. The Dog sledding planned in Tromsoe was canceled due to lack of snow, therefore, they added the people to the one planned in Kirkenes. ...
