We have cruised Princess, HAL, Celebrity and NCL before. This was our first Viking Ocean cruise.
We arrived in Olso 2 days before the cruise and on our own booked in advance a "Norway in a Nutshell" 12 hour tour to Bergen as recommended by Rick Steves. It involved 3 different train rides, a Fjord boat tour and a bus ride all in one day, all very spectacular. Although unaccompanied, all the ...
First we went to Iceland for the precruise holiday and Viking did an outstanding job. Arrived in Bergen, Norway, and we were bussed to the port. Very easy embarkation, and our room was ready when we arrived. Bags arrived shortly thereafter while we were having a drink on the explorer's lounge. We purchased the silver spirits beverage package which for us was a great deal. My husband had his ...
Booked this cruise based upon our experience on our 2014 Budapest to Amsterdam- Danube River Cruise which was fantastic by any definition as well! The Baltic Cruise went far beyond our expectations from embarkation to disembarkation. The Viking Star is an unbelievable ship! The amenities and service far exceeded that of the larger cruise ships we have travelled on including food, service, ...
We have sailed with Viking many times and this trip was our second on the Star. We love the organization and planning of everything from embarking to disembarking and getting to our airport. The cabins are nice in size and always kept clean by excellent cabin people. Staff are always friendly and helpful.
We were excited to see all the ports of call and seeing that part of the world. Wish we ...
Never been in Scandinavian countries, St. Petersburg and Iceland; it was truly amazing trip over-all. The embarkation and dis-embarkation was a breeze, precise, well organized and well planned. Viking Ocean "Star" over-all fantastic, truly home-away-from-home, comfortable, relax and everything in between exceeded our expectation. Cabin feels like luxury hotel room, very clean, roomy and the ...
We have traveled with Viking on a river cruise befor but this trip on the Viking Star Ocean Liner was by far the most wonderful trip . The ship is beautiful and richly appointed. The food and service exceptional. We felt we were living in luxury ! Thanks Viking for a trip of a life time!
The entertainment on board was superb and classes interesting. The off shore tours were all right, but a ...
My wife and I just came back from cruising the"Viking Homeland" cruise and it was just wonderful . My wife and I also did the pre cruise Iceland tour. It was well worth the time and dollars spent. Don't be timid and not soak in the Blue Lagoon. It's a once in the lifetime experience.
What can I say , the weather was for the most part cool but sunny , except in St Petersburg where it rained ...
Many great things about this ship and the itinerary. The ship itself is a wonder and seems very uncrowded. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. I did have a couple of issues that may be a problem for others. The free excursions are good for free, but you are really paying for them and at that point some (Bergen, Tallinn) are good, some not so good.
The pools.....they are ...
This was not our first cruise, but we were still very excited to be on this ship for one of the maiden voyages. We are a retired couple and were looking for comfort, luxury, good food, and interesting places to visit. Knowing it was your first ocean going cruise, we expected a few minor issues as you worked through the transition from River Cruising to oceans. Overall, the Viking Star and crew ...
We have been on several ocean cruises and have enjoyed many aspects of them, but this cruise was the best overall.
The ship was spacious with many areas where you could go relax and have some quiet time or visit with friends. The rooms were spacious, quiet and had good storage space.
Crew members always said hello whether they were just passing by you in a hall or working in an area. ...
