What we liked: Everything Viking did was great! The ship was modern, spotless, right-sized....just an overall wonderful ship. The staff and crew were very friendly and always willing to help. We always found something good to eat and gained the customary poundage. The destinations were fabulous on this itinerary.
What we didn't like as much: Sea days were somewhat boring. Yes, we could ...
This trip was postponed from over a year ago due to Covid. The excursions we were able to choose from were exceptional. We are history buffs, so being able to walk the beach of Normandy and Stone Henge was quite memorable. We were also able to explore Puerto by Segway. That was a new experience. We went into many ports that were small, so the towns were not over crowded with the exception of ...
The ship: A+. It’s gorgeous. Beautifully decorated and furnished. The common areas look like something out of a magazine. Lots of thought (and money) went into it. Stateroom was tight but adequate.
The food: B. It was good, but not great. We’ve had better in mid-range restaurants. With the cafeteria-style World Café serving almost the same menu as the white tablecloth Restaurant, we found it ...
I chose this cruise to visit many places that were new to me. The ship facilities and crew were very nice. The food and wines were delicious and varied. I enjoyed dining at the specialty restaurants also.
My biggest disappointment was lack of free time to shop after included tours. Because of the distance between the port and city downtown area ( in many ports), it was difficult to get ...
We wanted to see places we had never seen before, especially Barcelona.
Our flights to Bergen were rearranged because of a partial cancellation. The alternate flights set up by Viking got us there at 1:00 a.m.with an 8+ hour delay in London, causing us to miss getting acquainted with the ship and Bergen. Other flights, which would have been slightly more expensive, would have gotten us there ...
Our first ocean cruise on Viking. The small ship had an incredible friendly crew. The entertainment was great. The classical duo in the atrium lounge playing viola and cello wereour favorites. So many dinning choices, Manfredi was our favorite. The cabin stewardsPutu and Mark were always there for us and our special requests. We became great friendswith the bartenders Rico and Rodge , very ...
We chose this cruise for the itinerary...Bergen Norway to Barcelona. Wonderful cruise except for the stormy seas and the bland food and the constant, annoying cello and violins!
The food....the Restaurant took at least 2 hrs to complete a meal, but the food was better here than in the World Cafe (buffet). Mancini's was great, but not for all the time. We never did the Captain's Table, you ...
On our first cruise aboard the Viking Star, we were totally impressed with this vessel. Beautiful lines; roomy cabins; happy, helpful staff; fabulous foods; great entertainment; soothing spa, etc. We took the Viking Star a second time when it cruised the Caribbean, simply because we were in love with the ship and, since we have been to the Caribbean over and over again, this time we took ...
Great value for an itinerary that covered several areas that we had not visited before. The offer of two guests for one fare with free air was too great a temptation. The trip was excellent except for somewhat rough seas for a couple of days. It could have been a lot worse!
The excursions were well planned, and for the most part were interesting and informative.
The service on the ship ...
We thoroughly enjoyed a two week Baltic cruise a year ago on the Star's virtually identical sister ship the Viking Sea, but were mildly disappointed on this repositioning cruise.
Perhaps Viking is having some challenges keeping up with their rapid expansion. Perhaps nothing's quite as good the second time, even Viking's new Ocean Ships. Perhaps we shouldn't expect as much on a repositioning ...
