Interested in the destinations and historical background of the region. The ports were interesting, and the guides were knowledgeable and fun. Our guides in the Shetland Islands and Quebec City were outstanding. Wished we could have spent some more time in Iceland, as a one-day stay was less than optimal. Because of weather (Farrow Islands) and a problem with distilling fresh water due to low ...
This cruise was originally chosen to see the Norway, Sweden, Finland and St.Petersburg, Russia. With Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Russia was no longer possible so Viking substituted two islands, Bornholm and Aland. Both sites were interesting but no match for losing St. Petersburg. Viking recognized this and generously gave each guest a future travel credit. We substituted Iceland for Russia ...
The Good:
The ship is nice and the ports are interesting. Manfredi’s is a great place and the man who manages it is a very accommodating fellow. Our room Steward was very good.
The not-so-good:
The silver liquor package is not worth it anymore. When we traveled with Viking on the Budapest to Amsterdam river cruise the higher-end wine and liquor were worth the extra money – on this ...
We chose this cruise since we wanted to visit the Scandinavian countries. It was our first Viking experience and it met all of our expectations. The service was outstanding and the food was extremely good in all the restaurant facilities. Ample activities were offered on board ship. The entertainment was very enjoyable. The excursions were extremely organized. The entire trip was a very delightful ...
The Viking cruise line gives you a 10 out of 10 service I felt so special and that’s fantastic Cruise. They make you feel like you are number one. I also had special dietary needs and they went out of their way to make sure that I was satisfied above and beyond.
Also the excursions were very nice and organized as well. They also picked you up from the airport and brought you to your ...
We had heard good reviews about Viking from our friends so we decided to give it a try - we were on two prior cruises with other lines. We picked the Viking Homelands cruise after having two prior cruises cancelled due to Covid. We added Iceland as a pre-cruise excursion and were glad we did. We enjoyed all of our port of calls but wished Finland had been included on the itinerary. The ship was ...
We chose this cruise in 2019 after our first experience with Viking -- a River Cruise in Provence. We thought it would be a good way to see Scandinavia, where we had never been before. It would also have probably been our only chance to see St. Petersburg. After two covid cancellations we were pleased that we finally got to go, even without St. Petersburg (cancellation of which was a ...
Destination was the main reason for selecting this cruise. We have done a river cruise with Viking and were very please. This ship was very nice, clean, bright and offered all the amenities you could want. The staff was great. Everyone was very accommodating. The guitarist was wonderful. Play our request and learned a new tune we suggested. Was disappointed in the chef's table. The service ...
We were so intrigued by the itinerary and it did not disappoint. We heard so many great things about Viking. We loved traveling for 2 weeks. The pre excursions were amazing in Oslo and Bergen. The food was wonderful. We made several reservations at the specialty restaurants and enjoyed each one. Most shared spaces were never crowded. Seats were always available at the pools, at the shows and at ...
We had originally scheduled this cruise for 2020 and had to postpone it due to the coronavirus outbreak around the world. Our trip in 2022 was in the summer rather than the spring and we experienced amazing weather--it reached 100 degrees in England as we were finishing up our cruise.
We enjoyed Bergen where the cruise originated. We had been there before, so we opted for the opportunity to ...
