Great Arctic Adventure

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Viking Venus

We went in search of the Northern Lights, which we saw briefly, but discovered so many magical worlds. Before embarking on a Northern Lights cruise you need to understand the reality of searching for the Northern Lights (it’s not like social media would lead you to believe) and adjust your expectations. Still, the hunt is exciting and completely worth it. You’d be hard pressed to do better than ...

This was my very first cruise and our first travel since Covid canceled earlier post retirement plans. My wife and I had been intrigued by Viking from watching their ads on PBS Masterpiece. Friends of ours had also strongly recommended Viking so we had high expectations. Those expectations were met and exceeded. The ship, the staff, the food, our room and the excursions were first class in every ...

We chose this cruise because of the ports they visited and the pre-cruise extension. The pre-cruise extension had 2 nights in Oslo and 2 additional nights in Bergen. In both locations the hotels Viking booked us in were excellent. We loved their central locations where we could walk to everything or have easy access to transportation. The train ride from Oslo to Bergen was beautiful. The fjords in ...

We chose this cruise for the itinerary, which did not disappoint. It was our first time cruising with Viking (but we are experienced with many other cruise lines). It would take a lot of thinking to find fault with the trip. The staff in the Explorer’s Lounge learned our names and drinks before the ship set sail and remembered us every time we visited. Staff in the World Cafe similarly got to ...

I heard a lot of good things about Viking before the cruise. The trip was fantastic! Even though there was 900+ people on the boat, it was hard to tell. None of the restaurants or lounges were ever crowded. There are plenty of places to sit and relax. The boat was very luxurious. The food was great! With the Silver spirits and pre-paid tips, we spent $0.00 onboard the boat. Room service ...

We chose to cruise on Viking because of their reputation. This was our first time cruising with them and it won't be our last. We loved this cruise line!!! If you need to be entertained with activities like games and exercises every day, this cruise line is not for you. We enjoyed presentations about how to take better pictures, which you wouldn't think would be something you'd want to attend, ...

Northern lights cruise. We saw them several times. Food was good overall, although pastries and deserts were sub standard with the exception of the blueberry muffins which were great.service was very good in the dining room. Food over cooked in the buffet. Room was a deluxe balcony with large bathroom. Very nice balcony. Would sail again with Viking. Comparable. to Oceania. The room steward ...

The activities, meaning excursions, were simply wonderful and perfect. The people we met were all very nice and seem to have a great relationship with Viking. Hats off to the tour guides and the drivers, and (of course), the guides. Onboard the ship I met a lot of smiling and genuinely happy appearing people. Of course the food was wonderful as it was diverse - and I had some of the best and ...

We chose the "In Search of Northern Lights" cruise because seeing northern lights was a top "bucket list" experience we wanted to have. We chose the particular date because it was the only cruise that had an ADA-compliant accessible stateroom still available when we booked almost a year ahead. As it turned out, this cruise had the best weather conditions for seeing the lights of any cruises by the ...
