This was my first cruise, but even the experienced cruisers praised Viking Star as their best cruise. The ship is new, modern and high class. The tours were also high quality in addition to the food and staff. It was mainly 65+ guests, with no children on board. So if you are younger it requires some patience and adjusting assumptions. But there were a few "younger" people traveling with parents and there are always a few 65+ people who like late night entertainment and drinks. We sailed around the Nordic sea, Bergen (three stops in Norway), Denmark, Germany, Poland, Estonia, Russia, Finland and ending in Sweden. The dining options were a good variety. We were on the third floor and had only two nights of special dining, but those were excellent. The restaurant and buffet area offer a wide range of options and we did not tired of those options either. I loved the accommodations and the staff was fabulously consistently kind and generous. I would go back in an instant and dream of retiring on a Viking ship. Thank you Viking! Read Less

We were very happy with all aspects of cruise with just a few exceptions. Dining room. We were instructed to use a hand sanitizer as we entered the dining room which was good. However, the bread was sliced by customers and most times did not bother to use the towel just bare hands. The cheese tray which was beautiful with many cheeses and fruits was also unprotected with people cutting and picking us with there bare hands. I will say the evening meal was always wonderful. Our biggest complaint as it was for almost everyone was the expectation of buying bottled water or wine with lunch and dinner. We had free water , coffee and tea for breakfast, free coffee and tea for lunch. No water. No water, coffee or tea for dinner. If you take medication or have a dry mouth or difficulty swallowing too bad. Buy a bottle of water. This was a deliberate ploy to sell water and wine. The last problem with the dining room was the candelabra over table 19 and 13. The fibration was so bad at times it was impossible to talk. We had no complaint with the rest of the ship or staff. All was clean with friendly staff and a terrific tour director. Too bad our experience was tainted by the dining room Read Less
