A friend had the Northern Lights on her Bucket List and I gladly accepted the offer to join her on this cruise. It all started out great until our first night at sea. The ocean wasn’t that rough, but the ship was rolling and rocking a bit. This was when we discovered our cabin, #6054 had a serious noise problem. It sounded like Thor was banging his hammer on a huge metal pipe under our cabin’s floor. The vibrations from this clanging even appeared to break the floor tiles in the bathroom of our cabin. We asked our Room Steward to see if he could relay a message to maintenance to find the source of the noise. We also asked guest services about it. No one could explain why there was a noise like we were experiencing and never once did we get an apology from Viking during the remainder of the cruise. The noise only happened when the seas were a little to very rough and was loud up enough to interrupt sleep even while wearing ear plugs. On the bright side, we did see the northern lights in Alta, Tromsø and while passing by the port of Bodø (which was cancelled because of high winds). Norway is beautiful, the food on board the ship was acceptable, the entertainment and activities on board good, the cabin was beautifully appointed and excursions interesting. But the absence of any apology or explanation for the noise was unacceptable behavior by the staff and crew of the Viking Star. I most likely won’t be traveling with them on an ocean cruise again. We actually took the complete 11 day trip to/from Bergen (not 6 days as above). We had been on the same trip previously and so enjoyed the experience, we wanted to go again. This is unusual for us, as we like to go to different places. So it was a special memory. All the crew we came into contact with were most courteous, kind, helpful and cheerful. The Expedition team provided many interesting and enjoyable sessions daily. Thank you very much. The food, again, was delicious. Always plenty of choice at buffet breakfast and lunch, with beautifully presented served meals at dinner. The multiple sittings at dinner allowed us to really enjoy an almost Michelin starred experience each day. The weather was much better than the previous trip, but the Northern Lights were not co-operating very well this time - very late and very quick. Our "mini-suite" was very comfortable and we particularly praise Hurtigruten for their decisions to be super-friendly to the environment by allowing us to restrict cabin servicing to days of our choice - not just the usual "save the towels". Well done Read Less

Another family member had booked this cruise and we decided to TAG along. The food was excellent and well prepared and served. The workers at the buffet and the staff couldn't have been nicer and friendlier. The two girls that serviced our stateroom were a delight. Couldn't do enough for us and were very friendly. The entertainment was excellent for a smaller ship with less room to put on quality shows like some of the mega ships we have cruised on. It was a nice touch when the performers engaged all the guests after they did their show. The Cruise Director was amazing both in the way she performed and her comedic approach in entertaining the people on the cruise. The unlimited "FREE" Wi-Fi was exceptional. We were able to stay in touch with our family and business both by phone and internet. We are use to PAYING for Wi-Fi on the bigger ships but you beat them there. We will definitely consider sailing again on a Viking Cruise Ship and also look forward to a River Cruise in the not so distant future. THANK YOU for an enjoyable two weeks Read Less

We chose this cruise because we have always wanted to see Iceland and wanted to go back to Bergen. So this was the perfect cruise for us. This itinerary was perfect as we got to visit Greenland, Newfoundland and Canada. We have been to Antarctica so this was our chance to go to the Artic Circle. The service from the staff was great especially our cabin stewards and Ronald our waiter at Dinner. Every night at dinner he would go over the menu and discuss each dish by telling us what was in the dish and how it was prepared. We especially enjoyed the talks given on the Human Planet. What beautiful pictures and very interesting about how the photography was done. The excursions were very interesting to visit some of the old Viking villages to see how they lived. Also got to see a replica of an old Viking ship. Couldn't image how the survived in those boats. Read Less

We chose this cruise to experience a Viking Ocean Cruise after doing 2 Viking River Cruises. Had FABULOUS time! As with the River Cruises, staff and food was outstanding! Doing the Iceland Pre Trip was amazing, and helped us bond with our shipmates - which continued throughout our cruise! There were 12 of us who would meet up in the Lounge for cocktails, then attend dinner with other couples, then meet up at the Shows ( which were exceptional! Our Cruise Director sang and entertained as if she were on Broadway!!!) The food was delicious - think we had fresh King Crablegs every night at the Buffet! The specialty Dining Rooms were great - we ate at the Italian place 2 times, and then were able to get the Private Room our last night for all 12 of us! Our staterooms were adequate and balcony was nice to sit out on...I have to say, from early morning, until heading to our room at night, there was ALWAYS a smile and a nice greeting from EVERY staff member - such an upbeat group of people, who obviously enjoy their jobs!!! We look forward to our already booked Egypt Viking River Cruise, with pre Jerusalem and post Jordan trips, in 2021!!! Thank you, Viking, for having the BEST Ocean and River Cruises!!! Read Less

My wife and I have cruised many times in the past. we usually cruise with some friends who decided that we all should cruise the Baltic for our annual cruise in 2019. They chose Viking Ocean cruises, due in no small part to the excellent reputation of which they had read and the fact that what could be better than to take a Scandinavian ship to cruise the Baltic. At the outset, we were shocked to find that the entire cruise needed to be paid at least one year before the cruise. That has never been our experience in sailing with multiple lines and future patrons need to be aware of this requirement. The ship is beautiful. The public rooms are wonderful especially the Explorer Lounge. Our cabin was quite roomy and the bathrooms excellent. special kudos for a lovely shower without having to step over a tub.I found the heated floors in the bathroom to be a nice touch. The spa area is spectacular and if going to a spa with virtually everything-hot tub, small therapy pool, sauna and ice room is your thing, this is your ship The company touts its multiple channels of communication available to those who are scheduled, but that is primarily limited to receiving one way announcements from them, done well, but not to any dialogue or getting personal support for questions which arise and may not be answered in their stock announcements.Poor communication seems to be common on these cruises. For example, special meals opportunities, lobster tail and steak, special buffets, at the grill were never announced well and one learned to look for these each day by dropping by the grill itself or asking of the crew in a restaurant or bar. The ships plan is good but when the special meals take place in the grill area there is inadequate seating for the number of cruisers wishing to partake in the meal. The seating in the cinema is wholly inadequate for the number of passengers. Quite a few performances occurred with many passengers standing in the back to observe the show. The back two side areas were totally inadequate both for seeing the show and hearing it.The need to get to the venue 30 minutes before shows began was difficult for those of us who tended to to eat dinner at about 7 to 7:30. I was quite disappointed to discover that we did not receive services comparable to what we had received ion either Oceania or Azamara in spite of the fact that the per night per person cost to sail with Viking was considerably more than either of the other two. My concern with the cabin service is that when I wished ice, I had to go to housekeeping, when I wished lime I had to go to room service and when I wished to change my complimentary liquor and the amount of tonic I needed to speak to the drink steward. This in my view is rather poor considering the price of the cruise and the plaudits from other cruisers. Viking offers one free shore excursion at each port. The walking tours we took, 4, were excellent, but those in a bus were not worth the time spent at all. I was quite disappointed in the meals in the Restaurant ,in the Chef's special restaurant both times and at Manfredi both times. To be fair, one night the prime rib served at the restaurant was amongst the best I have ever had. The waffle at the Explorer Lounge was exceptional. On at least 4 occasions the cookies offered with the buffet were stale. the wines with meals were acceptable if unremarkable. One could upgrade wine selection and liquor for an extra daily per person charge. The speakers/lectures seemed excellent, for those we could make, but we missed the largest number as they were scheduled during dinner hour or just prior to dinner hour. Getting on, on the day of sailing from Bergen, and off the ship in Stockholm, with our luggage, were superbly handled even though we left the ship at 6 am to make our plane. Read Less

My husband and I so enjoyed our Viking river cruise from Paris to Normandy last December, we decided to splurge on a 15 ocean adventure aboard the Viking Sun. We weren't disappointed! Accommodations, food, service, and tours were excellent. Ship was immaculate, and shows and other entertainment, fabulous. Ship's band and singers played an amazing variety of music for listening, and best of all, dancing! What can we say about the sensational food aboard the Viking Sun? OK...my husband's doctor just told him to lose the 10 pounds he gained on both the cruises. We really appreciated that (good) wine and beers were complimentary at lunch & supper. Yup, it was easy to over-indulge well-made food almost all day and well into the evening! Most interesting ports in northern Norway, Scotland, and London. Included tours were extremely good with wonderful, informative guides. We can hardly wait to be able to book another Viking cruise! Read Less

We were looking for a cruise that would allow us to see a variety of Fjords and Scandinavian cities. We checked other cruises and cruise lines and ended up going with Viking because the itinerary offered a good combination. We had sailed with Viking on a River Cruise and wanted to try their Ocean cruises. Our room was a deluxe veranda which was fine. The bathroom was roomy with heated floors, the fridge was stocked with drinks and snacks that were included and the bed was comfortable, although we needed extra pillows. Storage and charging outlets were adequate. The main dining room was nice. The staff was attentive. The breakfast menu was fine, the same every day. The dinner menu had a selection of appetizers, entrees and desserts that did not change and also had menu choices that changed daily. The food was generally tasty, we had a few disappointments. The buffet was nice but there were a lot of lines and waiting. Sometimes the coffee service in the buffet was not great. We enjoyed the lunch and dessert options in the Explorer Lounge. Excursions: the included excursions were ok although some were more walking than was enjoyable for us. Attending the port talks was very informative. Taking the train to Berlin made for a long day. We were there during a heat wave, the train was not air conditioned, but the windows were able to be opened. However there were long stops both directions. We would recommend this cruise, the entire staff was great and we liked the lack of things like bingo and art auctions. Read Less

I chose this cruise because I have always had an interest in visiting Norway because of the scenic nature of the country. The scenery is really amazing from the fjords to the mountains of this great country. We saw so much in such a short time period with included and optional tours in 8 different countries. I was amazed at the beauty of Estonia and Russia. Only disappointment was not being able to dock at Gdansk Poland because of the weather conditions. I was particularly interested in Poland because of my husband's German ancestry. Everything about the 'Viking Sea' was top notch. We where spoiled by the service offered .... room service, dining, entertainment, friendly staff and general organization. We liked the size of the ship, the rooms where awesome with the balcony to slip outside and take in the view. I really enjoyed the nightly entertainment, every bit as good as taking in a theatrical production in Toronto for me. Everything was top notch. Of course I would go again & actually have already booked an Alaskan Cruise for 2020 with Viking. Read Less

I have been on a Viking cruise before and really liked it. I have always wanted to go to Norway so this was a perfect choice. The ship was excellent in every way. The food was also excellent, I especially liked The Chef's Table. We ended up going there twice and both meals were spectacular. The entertainment on board was perfect in that it had a calming quality to it. Our cabin was nice in every way including the staff that cleaned and made sure we were comfortable. All of the activities were very much as described. I did lots of biking and enjoyed all of it. It was always nice to get back to the ship to relax. The concert at the port of Oslo will probably be the best concert I will experience in my life. It was such a treat to be entertained by Ah-Ha and Andrea Bocelli. The only difficulty we had it that we were traveling as friends. All correspondence treated us as partners. Only one of us would get messages and we don't see each other that often so we felt there was a lack of communication. Even the gifts on board, which were very nice, seemed to be for a shared household. This trip is a memory I will always cherish. Read Less

I am the third passenger of cabin 618. At first I wanted to watch the Northern Lights but I wasn't that keen on travelling by boat(!) . Nevertheless I have to admit that I will never regret my choice. Everybody on board was nice and welcoming and helpful. The boat was clean and comfortable. The food was delicious and abundant and the waitresses and waitors always ready to help us. There were a lot of different excursions to please anybody, the entertainment and the activities on board were diverse and good as well. There was no fly in the ointment since the weather was sunny all over the journey except on the first day and the last day! I personnally had a problem when I set foot on board and the captain and the clercs at the reception did all their best to help me and I thank them for their compassion and their effective help to find me a solution which would suit me( and my dream!) I had always wanted to see the Northern Lights and I'm glad I had been able to make my dream come true. For sure I will recommend this cruise ( I've already started doing it!) To finish I'd like to add a few words about our French guide Anne Guillaud . She happened to be very competent and effective and humane. She answered all our questions and she gave us very instructive lectures every day and she also helped me personnally beautifully when I needed it. She IS an experienced guide who knows Norway, its cullture and its history . Thank you for reading me .M.B Read Less

There were so many interesting locations to view and visit while enjoying luxurious service, dining and comfort. Viking spoils their passengers. Service is impeccable and wonderful selection of restaurants onboard. Cabin service is excellent, from cleanliness to accommodation. This was my fourth trip with Viking River and Ocean cruise and I’m now planning my fifth. Viking makes traveling so easy for you by collecting you at the airport and retuning for your flight home. It’s obvious Viking takes the time to properly train their employees. I actually walked into my once and found someone cleaning under my bed. You’ll find from the stewards, bartenders, servers will help you with anything you ask. The concierge will go out of their way to grant any request you have. Viking has wonderful entertainment. From dancing, singing, comedy etc. to a large current selection of movie and tv programs. After a day of fascinatingly excursions it’s nice to have dinner in or out of your room and then relax with a movie. Again, I’ll say Viking absolutely spoils their guests. Read Less

We chose this Cruise to travel with another couple and made the reservation over a year ahead. The quality of ship, crew, services and experiences was exceptional. We enjoyed the amenities of the ship and quality of the design of the ship. Our prior experience with Viking has been on European River Cruises. The ability of us to be on the same tour bus was not able to be accommodated consistently.. Many times, much to our frustration, we found that we were assigned different busses for a given tour. We found some local guides were much better than others. Uneven utilization of audio devices was disconcerting as some guides said they had requested one but had been denied. We wish that they would not fill the tenders to capacity when shuttling for tours. More trips with less crowding would be much better. We found the internet connection speeds to be inconsistent. I would think this should be able to be improved. We particularly enjoyed Luis on the guitar and Dr. Lori talking about Viking history. Read Less

We sailed with the Viking Sea from London to Britain and then to the multiple Fjords in Norway. We were very impressed with everything Viking. Everything from embarkation to post cruise tour to Iceland went exceptionally well. It took us a few days to get used to the quality of service we experienced. Everytime we took a shower, our steward would come in when we left and clean the entire bathroom and place all new towels. Every time we messed up our bed linen the sheets were always straightened and changed if needed. The food service in all Dining options was exceptional. At the start of our trip we thought we would want to have special dinners in the Restaurant or Manfredi's or at The Chef's Table. However, we ended up eating most often at The World Cafe "buffet" area, as the food was incredible. I love seafood, and there were always, crab legs and shrimp and sea bass or so many other delightful options. My husband and our friends we were with, also always found their favorites with so many options from salads to pizza to Prime rib to steaks or lamb. The service was great everywhere and even at the buffet after making our choices the servers still brought us wines and coffee's and bread or anything we requested. Everyone treated us like we were family. Loved It!!! The entertainment was all done by staff, from the Director to the assistant Director to other servers and staff. We were tremendously impressed by the talent that we were treated to. Viking knew the audience and played to them with Elvis Presley impressionist and many other awesome shows. Amazing. We also enjoyed the evening bar singers and that atmosphere. Our ship was so impressive and spotless! The infinity pool off the front deck was awesome and the pool on the top deck was perfectly heated. On the evening of the Midnight sun we were able to see the sun go down and come back up within two minutes on the same spot! The most impressive was the nature around us, such as the Sisters Falls and the hugh troll face carved into the side of the mountain. We enjoyed and excursion everday and always were totally impressed not only with nature but also with the preparations that Viking had made that made every trip PERFECT!!! We participated in the Iceland Excursion and was so impressive. Wow! Four days where we saw Geysers that erupted every 5 minutes to a Volcano crater we walked around, and a Hugh water fall with a salmon latter, as well as swimminng in the Blue Lagoon and having a facial with the mineral's found in the Lagoon. Writing about all of this makes me want to do it all over again. Absolute Perfection all the way around!!! You may think that because this review is so good that I am just a positive person. This is not quite true as people who know me know my opinion needs to be well earned. This one was! Read Less

This was our first Viking cruise and we have already booked another one for 2019. Viking certainly sets the standard for Ocean cruising and ship amenities. We had been on another cruise line that also catered to adults and was a small ship. The 900-1000 passenger ships are much more accessible and you don't feel like you are waiting in line to eat or running into people as you move about the ship. Viking's restaurants are excellent, well spaced out around the ship and Viking does not charge extra for their specialty restaurants or the wine and beer served with lunch and dinner. I'm sure that cost is built into the fee, but it is nice not to get a huge bill at the end of the cruise. We enjoyed the choice of shore excursions but wish we could have spent more time in some ports. The included panoramic bus tours are OK but you don't get to see a lot. The more personal excursions are more expensive and sometimes fill up fast. There were great musical opportunities on this cruise - a Grieg piano recital, an evening performance at the ballet in St. Petersburg and a Sebelius concert in Helsinki. There are more extensive reviews listed but I would agree with many of them that all the crew took exceptional pride in themselves and their jobs and Viking holds them to a high standard. Everyone is always greeted with a smile. Read Less

So here is a (long) review of the Viking Sun Homelands cruise we just finished this week. I tried to break it all down as best I could. I would highly recommend anyone who would like this amazing experience to book it! Final views of Viking Homelands Cruise 1- We are aware that our joy about this holiday is influenced by the wonderful and unusual weather we experienced for the entire 32 days in Europe (except misty in Iceland and 50 F) (we spent 10 days in the U.K. with family). The temps were mid 70’s to high 80’s the whole time, with only one 5 minute rain shower in Stockholm. 2- Viking Sun. The ship is amazing. It is well laid out, and well decorated. The hard working staff is always cleaning and polishing. We enjoyed the pianist Olga, the string group, and Luis the guitarist being in different lounges each evening. The nightclub was fun each night and a great place to wind down. Iskra was the bartender who kept up with us- we had Silver Spirits drink package and it was nice to be able to experience different drinks whenever. (Rule of thumb- if you drink 2-3 liquor or upgraded wines per day, it is $$ worthwhile). 3- Stateroom. We had a Penthouse Veranda room- perfect size, lots of storage and drawers. Our cabin steward Fery and his assistant Jayson kept up with our every need. 4- Entertainment. We were very impressed with the quality of the evening entertainment. The cruise director, Bevin, and his assistant Matthew were everywhere! From morning excursions to port talks to evenings, they were always on point for what passengers needed. The entertainment in the theater included a magician, a comedian, and a singer that has played Jean Valjean in Les Mis in West End, so you know he is a powerful talent. The resident production team consisted of 4 highly talented and energetic performers who rocked the theater with a 69’s show, a musicals themed show and a Beatles/ABBA show (we WERE in Stockholm). They were also consistently visible and great ambassadors for the ship. There were other activities during the days and evenings- history and art lectures, team trivia, dance lessons, and more. 4- Food. We ate mostly at the World Cafe buffet- always great choices- sushi, crab legs, shrimp, Prime rib, mussels, tenderloin, oysters, whatever. The menus were posted on the online app so you could make your decision. We ate at the main restaurant a few times, the pool grill a few times, and Manfredi’s, the Italian specialty place once. It was fantastic. We didn’t get to the Chefs Table, the specialty restaurant with a set menu that changes every 2 or 3 days- the day we had reservations, Dennis wasn’t feeling very well- he caught a cold and was not up to it. 5- Shore excursions. We took mostly the included Viking and they were so well organized. Every stop had a free walking or bus tour, plus shuttles included if needed to get into and out of town. One of the best was the Berlin included- we thought we would be dumped on a train, dumped in Berlin, and then find our way back to the train on our own. Instead, the train was chartered and we had a local guy with us the whole time. When we got to Berlin, we were given an orientation bus tour for an hour before we were let off at a central square to wander on our own. After 2 hours or so, we met back at the square, and were bussed to the train. On the train back, we were served wine, beer and snacks, complimentary. It was much more than we expected for the free inclusion. We took 2 of the Viking paid excursions- Pulpit Rock and the Flam railroad. I would recommend both of those. We did a 2 day highlights tour with SPB tours in St Petersburg, which also gave us an evening out with “Go Out Like a Local”- we went to some trendy bars with a 30 something guide and then took an evening canal cruise- private boat- just 5 of us plus our guide, Russian rock music and a bottle of vodka. Skol! 6- a bit about each stop -Iceland. We did the pre-extension but Viking had us in a hotel too far from town. The Golden Circle was remarkable, with the plate tectonics going on, and the volcanic landscapes got the science geology nerd in me all happy. The Blue Lagoon was quite an experience as well -Bergen. Norway was on my bucket list and I understand why. The scenery all through Norway is breathtaking. Take the funicular up to the top of the mountain for great views. -Other 2 stops in Norway. Eidfjord has the Flam railroad which goes up and around the mountains and waterfalls. At Stavanger, we took the small boat out to look straight up those glacially formed cliffs. -Aalborg was just a few hours but another quaint medieval town. Copenhagen was a bit bigger and we took the walking tour and then a canal cruise. -Talinn Estonia- the history of that region is tough. The economy is struggling because of trade problems -Berlin- train and a chance to experience the history of a crazy man and his demented dreams and then how the Cold War took a toll on those in east Berlin. -Gdansk Poland. Another chunk of history. The ship was berthed at the spot where WW2 began. Sobering. Take a look at the Polish amber- it’s very beautiful -St Petersburg- this was actually my least favorite place, but a visit I wouldn’t have changed for anything. This is a huge city, crazy traffic, so many tourists, so much standing in line to get into all the important spots- Hermitage, Catherine’s Palace, Peterhof, Spilled Blood. -Helsinki- One of my favorite places. Very laid back, nice port town. Lots of green space and very nice people -Stockholm- Tied with Bergen for my favorite. This is a great city that doesn’t seem so big. Hop On Hop Off will get you anywhere you want to go. We stayed here a few extra days because there was so much to see here, and the cruise was ending. Vasa Museum, Abba Museum, IceBar- so much to see! All in all= I'm in the Viking cult! I have drunk the Koolaid and I'm all in. We have booked a river cruise for 2020. Hooray! Read Less

Ship and amenities were all first class. The crew and restaurants were outstanding. Enjoyed the lectures and port talks, especially Michael Scott. Embarkation and disembarkation went very smooth and on board Services even arranged for a car to take us to our stop over in London. Great help so everything went smooth. I can't say enough about the Ship, from the decor, facilities, crew, shopping and especially the entertainment. The pianist , guitar player and all the entertainment was so very enjoyable. Our cabin was great, roomy and our cabin attendant Alvin? couldn't have been nicer. It seemed like he always had the little extra that was needed. Even though the weather and fog kind of worked against us somewhat the cruise was still such a joy because of the ship, crew and the little things that made it so enjoyable. It was nice also to have so many extras built into the cruise package, like the drinks at lunch and dinner meals. Our dinning room attendants and servers were above and beyond, "Vicky and his helpers" were outstanding. We just hated to leave the Ship. Looking forward to our next adventure. Read Less

Our crew were fantastic -they were very helpful, extremely polite, and very friendly. Great representatives for Viking. The spa services we booked were also wonderful! Massages, and then time in the pools and saunas was very relaxing. I would highly recommend booking a massage, and definitely go down and use the spa area. The fitness room was nice as well as the outside walking track and the exercise equipment on the top deck. Since I try to eat a plant based whole food diet I was happy to find many good offerings in several of the restaurants on board the ship. So the Cruise to Norway, Scotland and England was marvelous. The first day when we arrived in Bergen we toured the ship. Our cabin was wonderful and the balcony let us go out and sit and see the city. The cabin seemed just right for two people. We walked around the Viking Star, saw the Restaurants, the Pool, the Lounge and everything was so nice. After dinner I left for a walk around Bergen. The town was amazing, the shops of different color, the Fort on the hill and all the sailing ships. After a stroll I looked at my watch and it was 22:30 so I thought it was time to head for the ship. As I turned and saw the sun setting in the west it looked more like 18:00. Back on the ship every day was a Port Talk where we learned about the next port and town we would visit. This helped us prepared for the Excursion the next day. Seeing the towns across Norway with the mountains and snow on them was beautiful. Visiting the Shetland Islands and seeing the ponies, the Orkney Islands and seeing the Ancient ruins, and Edinburgh with its Castles. Sailing to our last stop, London, we passed the Maunsell Sea Forts still standing and the Thames Barrier. Our last Excursion was the London Eye and the views of London are wonderful. Not sure when I will be on another Viking Cruise but I hope it's soon. Read Less

We chose the the Viking Sky because it is a smaller ship with 940 passengers. We had gone on five Viking River Cruises and always had a good experience. Their cruise ship was no exception ... our 15 days were pure heaven..: We appreciated the relaxed atmosphere, good food, outstanding nightly entertainment, educational tours and much more! The staff were so happy to please and take care of our every need. Our cabin was very comfortable, and simply decorated. We especially liked the luxurious bathroom with the heated floor. The entertainment was outstanding and we loved the English tenor, Lee Bradley, that was brought in to perform for two concerts. The food was outstanding and we particularly enjoyed the fresh fish cooked on deck. The speciality restaurants were fine but we preferred the World Cafe for a more relaxed dining experience and preferred the open seating experience. We can’t wait to go on another Viking Cruise! We had visited Sweden previously and wanted to see more of Scandinavia. We had been on two Viking River Cruises and loved them so we wanted to continue with Viking. We loved the educational and entertainment options on board. We also liked the logistical planning so some of the guests could attend a presentation while others went to dinner so everyone didn't go to dinner at the same time. Very clever. We didn't feel overwhelmed by the over 900 guests as there were so many things to do and places to hang out on board that the experience was comfortable and enriching. The river cruises had about 100 guests so we were concerned about the larger number, but we never felt overwhelmed by the much larger size of the voyage. The cabin staff were helpful, friendly and responsive to our requests. They all - the entire crew - were very professional and respectful throughout the voyage. The shore excursions were wonderful - so educational and well planned. The guides were knowledgeable and professional. The buses were clean and comfortable. We have been and will continue to share our praises for Viking to family and friends. we also enjoyed our extended stays in Oslo and Copenhagen. Beautiful and inviting cities. Read Less

A 5 star experience in every category. The food was excellent and plentiful. The staff accommodating, friendly and approachable. Excursions reasonable and interesting. The Spa was incredible! The service was tip-notch! Pre-cruise stopover in Iceland was excellent. Staff met us at airport and provide orientation on bus ride to hotel. A hot, full breakfast awaited us at the hotel. Transport back to airport, though early in the morning, was timely. Welcoming in Bergen was warm and well coordinated. We did not see Our bags again until they were in our cabin. Embarkation was hassle free and very quick. Lunch ready upon arrival and we were out tiring within an hour of boarding. First dinner was at Manfredi's specialty restaurant and was remarkable in terms of food and service. A great way to start the cruise. Twelve hour excursion to Berlin was well coordinated and the private train was a nice touch. Read Less

The Viking Homeland cruise provided Excellent Ports of Call with a well organized shore excursions. There were good excursion options for each port, giving a taste of each city and country. The Viking Sky provided a ship of appropriate size that provided comfortable amenities without having to use a larger size ship. The size of ship allowed access to ports that prohibited larger ships. The crew provided an excellent, friendly service. The ship provided excellent cuisine venues and choices for food and beverages. The food was excellent. The service was excellent, friendly and professional. The cabin was comfortable proving appropriate amenities. The staff was again excellent and friendly. They would not hesitate to take that extra step to make things more comfortable We would not hesitate to travel with Viking again. They were helpful and thorough from the time we booked the cruise, providing the necessary details prior to start of the cruise, to transportation to and from. They provided us an excellent experience and left great memories. Read Less

We had heard positive comments about Viking and when I was looking to plan a surprise 40th Wedding Anniversary Cruise I looked more closely at Viking. From my first phone call to inquire about a Viking Cruise I knew I had made the right choice! Viking made us feel like friends as opposed to a customer and that feeling continued up until we boarded the Viking Sun. While on the Cruise we built friendships with members of the Viking Sun Staff that have remained in contact with us! Everywhere we went on the Viking Sun the staff welcomed us by name! The restaurants made us feel like we were walking into our favorite restaurant back home where they knew us and were excited to see us and had been awaiting our arrival. Andriy and Andriy the Wine Stewards were ABOVE AWESOME! The Viking Band and Chris and Leroy were incredible entertainers that catered to the patrons of TorsHaven. We could no have wished for a better experience on the Viking Sun. Were we impressed??? Well, we booked our next two Cruises while on board! Read Less

we chose this cruise because unusual itinerary and lower number of passengers. It felt as uncrowded as the viking river cruises that we love. Enjoyed the breath taking sceneries and the guided tours. cabin staff went out of their way to make us comfortable. Dining room staff kept everything immaculate and we took advantage of the specialty dining. What a treat! The entertainment was wonderful and fun. We also took advantage of the bath ritual. The spa was quite a treat. we took part in the tea time in the atrium. It was a very bright room with the open feel. Spent a lot time in the front of the ship, watching the scenery. I hated to sleep because I might miss something as we sailed through the fjords! I loved getting up early to watch the ship dock in the various ports. It added to the anticipation of another grat day in the Baltics. Read Less
