We chose this cruise because of the ports they visited and the pre-cruise extension. The pre-cruise extension had 2 nights in Oslo and 2 additional nights in Bergen. In both locations the hotels Viking booked us in were excellent. We loved their central locations where we could walk to everything or have easy access to transportation. The train ride from Oslo to Bergen was beautiful. The fjords in ...
We wanted to see the majestic fjords, the arctic circle, puffins and whales (we did close up). Also to get away from the turbulent world we live in. We loved Norway and Iceland and their life style. The services on the ship were superb, the cuisine delectable and tailored to all tastes. The staff was friendly, efficient, eager to help. The lectures were very interesting and informative. The ...
Northern lights cruise. We saw them several times. Food was good overall, although pastries and deserts were sub standard with the exception of the blueberry muffins which were great.service was very good in the dining room. Food over cooked in the buffet.
Room was a deluxe balcony with large bathroom. Very nice balcony. Would sail again with Viking. Comparable. to Oceania. The room steward ...
We chose the cruise on MS Trollfjord after seeing an article in a women's magazine the previous year. It was a Northern Lights cruise with Wildlife. Michael Strachan was on the ship for a few days which was an added attraction. We had to book through Iglu Cruises/Planet Cruise and felt that it would have been better to have booked directly with Hurtigruten. Iglu told us that one of the ...
I thought the classic round trip would give me the best opportunity to see the Northern lights. Overall the trip exceeded my expectations. The ship was very good and run in an efficient way. The staff were very hardworking, particularly the restaurant waiter service. Their language skills & friendly service were excellent. I cannot fault the choice and standard of food. Yes the excursions ...
We chose this cruise because we wanted to travel up the coast of Norway to the Arctic Circle and experience the natural beauty of such a voyage. We knew that Hurtigruten wasn't a typical "luxury" cruise company, despite the high, price, but were willing to make that trade-off for the hiking and other "adventures" available along the way. The headline is: We are glad we did this and would do it ...
Following from a similar cruise last year on Polarlys we booked again on a different ship with an upgrade to a mini suite taking advantage of the added extras of private airport transfers, extra space, Internet access, a wine package including bottled water and (when we booked) an unlimited coffee package - which was later withdrawn with nothing else offered,. Neither of our private transfers ...
My first trip on the Vesteralen was great. Beautiful scenery, northern lights, cute villages and nice people in a quiet atmosphere. The interior of the ship is simplel and dated (or vintage depending on your point of view). But cosey and there was enough place everywhere to sit (as we were in low season). The food was good to excellent, with a large variety of choice. Water was included in all ...
We enjoyed our cruise from Bergen to Kirkenes very much. We did not opt for an upgraded cabin. The standard cabin was fine for sleeping and showering. We did opt for a window. We were on the port side, and my spouse could hear noise when the shipped docked and left at night. The scenery is great and changes constantly and there is a lot to see from either side of the ship.
The food was a ...
