We typically travel suite class. Because it has been going where we want to go, when we want to go, we've been traveling Princess. The Sapphire Princess is a large ship! The disadvantage is that it often is berthed in a cargo area of the port Vs. "in/nearer town".
Despite the number of passengers, there is enough space on the ship so you don't think it is crowded. The dining rooms serves good ...
We are first time cruisers on this type of boat, having done European river cruises and small boat cruising in Prince William Sound, Alaska. It is true the boarding experience in Tianjin was an absolute shambles. No information, queues going in every direction, everybody there at the one time as travel from Beijing was not co-ordinated. A really bad impression much commented on by regular cruise ...
For starters, the main let down was the ship stunk of sewage, as you go at the back/side of the ship, it stunk really bad. In some other areas I could get whiffs of the same stench here and there.
The cruise was ok. Plenty of food choices at the Windjammer. I didn't like their Main Dining food options, they stated the meat wasnt tender, very chewy, and they advised us to choose something else ...
SUMMARY
Lovely ship with nice atmosphere being well managed by Captain Roger Bilton and Cruise Director, Brett, who kept everybody informed. Food was good but not up to the standards enjoyed on previous cruises on Sea Princess. Entertainment was poor, especially in the theatre, evidently due to excessive cost cutting. Well managed port calls with minimal queues and formalities handled very ...
We have just returned from a Southeast Asia cruise on the Diamond Princess.
The cruise was very good overall, but unfortunately we did not get to see Shanghai due to bad weather. The captain only told us two hours beforehand at approximately 6am that we were unable to dock at Shanghai as the port was closed due to bad weather. We therefore remained at sea for three days and missed a very ...
My wife and I, with two friends, had a great time on the Diamond Princess as we toured SE Asia. This was our ninth cruise, but our first with Princess. Overall, the trip was fantastic, but there are a few items I feel Princess could improve on. I will start with the few negatives and then move on to the many positives.
Over the past year, we have been on three cruises. The other two were on ...
this was our first RCCL cruise. ( previously cruised Carnival ). the ship was huge, and with over 3000 passengers and crew on board, most would think crowded.. NOT THE CASE!
there always seemed to be plenty of areas to find a quiet place to just sit, enjoy the scenery, or just people watch.
there are plenty of activities on board if you really want things to do.. Karaoke, card games, trivia, ...
We had looked forward with excitement to this cruise in view of the ports of call, all places we had not been before.
We had a cabin with a balcony on deck six which was well laid out, comfortable and well attended by our Cabin Steward.
The facilities on board ship were good with plenty to see and do whilst not ashore or on sea days. All staff throughout the ship were friendly and helpful ...
China Sea Royal Caribbean cruise last October, booked with ROL on the 'Voyager of the Seas'.
Flew off with Qatar Airways - absolutely first class operators. Vastly overpriced Regal Hotel in polluted Beijing. Typical of Eastern China the infrastructure was superb.
Sailed to Fukohara, Japan; Jeju island South Korea,Xiamen China; Hong Kong; Saigon; Bangkok; Singapore.
Including Beijing port that ...
I sailed on the Diamond Princess from BeiJing to Vancouver in 2012. The distance sailed was 11277 kilometers. It was a very nice experience.

I call this cruise my re-enactment of my father's sailing to Gold Mountain. Chinese call the USA Gold Mountain. I was five-months old when he sailed from Shanghai to San Francisco. I know of no ...
