Durnstein. Delightful Village that was an alternative port of call. Spent a lovely afternoon and even attended a craft fair where my daughter got some hand dyed yarn! Also had a delicious pint and some wild mushroom soup!

We enjoyed this cruise with my parents, celebrating a milestone anniversary with them. It exceeded all of our expectations! From the friendliness of the staff, to the wonderful meals, to the fantastic excursions, to the cabin we stayed in...everything was top notch! The servers, stewards & bartenders quickly learned our names & our preferences. We went on each of the daily excursions, as ...

We chose this cruise from Basel to Amsterdam because of the diversity of the the ports and we were not disappointed. From the Swiss Alps to the below sea level Holland, every view and port were extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, every staff member made us feel appreciated and special. Every local tour guide was knowledgeable, personable and entertaining! We loved hearing their ...

We had been wanting to do a European river cruise for quite a few years. We had been receiving Viking literature and finally decided to book a trip. We added on a Lucerne pre-excursion. It was a great way to get to Europe early to explore and get accustomed to the time zone difference. Viking was spot on with all the details. All their t's were crossed and their i's were dotted. We felt like ...

Viking was by far the most beautiful boats out there on the Rhine! We had never been to Europe before. This was by far the BEST way to see Europe. down the Rhine River. The boat was Kept up and fresh all along the way. The food and it’s variety was really good. The staff gets 10 stars. They were absolutely superb. Every one of them. The daily included excursions were great and just the right mix ...

We lived in Germany for 5 years and decided to revisit some of our favorite places. This Viking cruise, our first, seemed a great way to go and it was. We flew into Basel and Viking met us and transferred us to our ship with ease. Luggage quickly delivered to cabin. Lunch was immediately available. We loved the daily excursions and walked between 6 and 9 miles per day. Breakfast, lunch ...

I enjoyed last years Danube cruise so much I had no hesitation to re-enlist with Viking. However, since ours was a last minute choice I WOULD HAVE TRIED ANOTHER LINE IF ONE Had been available. I received no discount for signing on to a previously cancelled stateroom. We were on the bottom level, whereas last year we had a French balcony. We feel the French balcony was not worth the extra ...

Never considered, nor had any interest in this type of cruise/vacation. Suddenly after receiving an email with offer of special pricing for cruise & airfare, we decided to "go for it". So glad we did. Viking made us feel like their only passenger from the very first day until our return home. They really know how to manage every angle of your vacation, while at the same time totally staying out ...

We want to do several European trips and started with this one on the Rhine. Going back to go on the Danube cruise with Viking later this year. The included tours were really good, interesting tour guides, a lot of background and history provided at the places we went. The Viking staff was (by and large) outstanding, my wife even tipped one of the waiters 10 Euros as he remembered our ...

This was an outstanding cruise up the Rhine River from Basel to Amsterdam. We opted for the optional 3 days in Lucern Switzerland before heading to Basel to begin our cruise and we're glad we did! What a fantastic stay we had in the city. So glad we took the Stansehorn Cable Car up into the Swiss mountains - tremendous views!! We visited Breisach Germany where we stopped in a wonderful place ...

We had not been in Western Germany, we’d had no time for a vacation during the previous year, and so when Viking offered a half-price sale, we chose this cruise as a quick getaway. Viking has things nailed: we received our paperwork a month before we sailed, someone was waiting for us and shuttled us to our ship. We boarded a bit later due to a flight delay, but an excellent dinner and ...
