The cruise was going where I wanted to visit. The Windjammer food was nasty. The room was old, barely kept up, chips on rails, sinks etc. The customer service department fought me constantly about my return flight. THEN they would go on the computer and see that Sea & AIR did not give me a return. The staff was rude and told me I had troubles getting on the computer, until they had to find the return flight. They dump you at the airport and don't guide you to where you should be checking in. I spent to much of my time trying to fix what Sea and Air were paid to do. The excursions are a joke, they RUN you ragged and give you very little time on your own. It's crowded and other excursions were mixing with ours. The Eze tour guide was the best. The others were oblivious to the needs of the customers. Told the guide the granddaughter had to use the restroom , he said in 1/2 hour, he didn't stop for 1 1/2 hours. The grandkids thought the room looked really old and worn down. They kept going to the "supposed 24 hour teen center" which was continually closed. The staff seemed fairly crabby for the beginning of the season. Read Less

We arrived in Bacelone 2 days before saling, and it was great. We had a great time in Barcelone. The ship was great and the cabine also. We had dinner every night on the fift floor (sorry I can't remember the name) the staff in this dinning room was wonderful. We did not entertain or do any of the activities. the service was very good but the staff on the 11 floor, were not smiling at all, this was pain full for me. They had no communication at all except to ask us if we wanted more coffee but no smile. Ports and excusions was wonderfull. We visited very nice places. I was traveling with my daughter, her boyfriend and the mother of her boyfriend. They did everything to please us since it was our first time in Europe, Italy is very nice to visit and I would not hesitate to do this cruse again. I liked the number of stops for a one week cruise and the destinations. I did not like the last trip at the end took too long to get off ship. we sat in the theater a 7:15 and did not get on our bus until 9:00 am . the tour was not very good no bathroom break planned, had to stop at a bar and buy something to use the restroom. not very well thought out. also did not like our first waiter at dinner was rude and unprofessional. once we moved to table 42 things improved dramatically as for food most of the appetizers were cold or stale. that also applies to sugar free desserts ,also only one selection at dinner. in the room the bed was hard and the middle coupler made it hard to sleep together with my wife. I did like the layout of the ship especially the main street. on another subject. non of the excursions we for hearing impaired rome comes to mind. we were not informed the the tour would be on audio headsets. so my wife could not hear anything said I asked the guide to speak louder but he didn't. Food: The selection of food was poor, and the quality was subpar. I have travelled on several cruises, and this was the first one that did not serve smoked salmon! The food was very similar every day at the Raffles buffet. The food selection and quality appeared to be marginally better in the formal dining rooms, but not by much. The speciality dining restaurants were lacklustre as well. We had the free speciality dining promotion, so we were able to try all of the restaurants. I would definitely not have paid for any of the speciality dining restaurants. The only one that I enjoyed was Cagney's Steakhouse. Be sure to make restaurant reservations on the first day of the cruise because everything gets booked very quickly. Service: The restaurant staff were all very friendly and cheerful. The service of management had much to be desired. We experienced extremely loud hammering noise throughout the first seven nights of the cruise. It seriously impacted the quality of our vacation. Upon complaining, we were told that they were completing urgent maintenance that could not be done ashore (during daytime hours). This was appalling, as maintenance issues should not occur at the expense of the comfort of guests. We were offered $50 onboard compensation, which we immediately rejected. It was insulting to offer such a pittance for a ruined vacation. Cabin: We had an oceanview stateroom. We aware that the oceanview staterooms near the front of the ship are really just a small porthole. The cabin was old, and the tiles in the shower were visibly rusty. Toiletries were of poor quality and the water coming from the sink was sometimes yellow. Overall, I was expecting a lot more. I have travelled on other NCL ships and the experience was much better. Hopefully these issues are exclusive to this ship as I had really enjoyed my previous experiences with NCL. Read Less

Tour Meditteranean : Norwegian Spirit needs to be totally refurbished! Worst food ever, I have taken over 10 cruises and have never seen additional charges for dinner entrees in the main dining room! The Spirit served two Italian entrees & both were so horrible, we sent them back. Entrees included Jamaican, Indian, Oriental and Cajun while sailing around Spain & Italy - WHY?, If your cabin was Midship or forward, you had to go two decks up to walk to the other end then down two decks to get to the main dining room which was Directly Over The Engines Causing you to shake during dinner & cause sea sickness! Disembarking in port was totally impossible if you were in a wheelchair or walker. You could pay for bottled water to take into ports, but you were not allowed to bring the same bottle back onboard. Ice was a premium commodity onboard. Read Less

I was on a 7-day western mediterranean cruise (may 21st to 28th, 2017) from barcelona port. I had 2 cabins, 1 for me and my 1-year old daughter, and the other 1 is for my in laws. Couple of things I am really upset about: 1. I asked the NCL agent to include everything in the payment prior to the cruise (including gov taxes, gratuity, any fees), and the agent gave me the final quote. I completed the payment 1 month before the cruise. However, at the end of the cruise, i figured out that I still need to pay service charge more than 700 usd (-about 15 usd per person per day). I was really really upset. I intentionally asked the agent to include all the taxes and fees befoe i made the payment. I feel that the agent has tricked me. Very unprofessional. 2. My daughter had stomach flu, we went to see doctor on board, and the doctor recommend us to see pediatric when we dock in cannes, france. We followed the suggestion, we went 9am in the morning, and the my daughter was treated in the hospital. Blood, urine and stool test showed that the infection was ok, and She was just a little dehydrated, so the pediatrician in the hospital gave her IV. The pediatrician recommended us to stay in the hospital for one night, but if we wanna continue with the cruise, she recommended us to continue IV for another 8 hours. I asked the pediatrician to call the doctor on board to arrange this, and surprisingly the doctor on board said there's no IV, so she will not allow us to continue with the cruise. This is total non-sense. When we went to see the doctor onboard the day before, She did offer me IV for my daughter in case needed, which means there is IV onboard. It seemslike The doctor onboard doesnt wanna be bothered by my case and prefer to kick my family out of the cruise. 3. I rush back to the cruise at around 4 pm to argue with the doctor, and I found out that NCL already packed all my stuff and empty my room. They mix all my clean clothes with the dirty one, open my security box without my autorization. They put my luggaged in the aft corridors. I was shocked. I never autorizhed them to do this. I paid for my trip, they should not just kick me out. Even if i have to stay overnight in cannes, i can still catch the next day cruise in mallorca. I was so upset, took our passports, and left the boat. I will never ever go on a cruise with NCL again. Very very unprofessional. Read Less

was recommended cruise by iglue, had cruised twice before with different lines if your thinking of a Costa cruise I highly advise you look elsewhere ,the ship was spotless that's the good point over and done ....English is the last language spoken, its pot luck if you get a waiter whose not moody, the buffet is like a cattle market free for all with pushing in and general bad manners,we waited 1 hour and 15 mins in between the starter and the main when we went dinning...,making tea in the cabin is forbidden, you have to pay for everything other than breakfast time when tea, orange ,coffee is free,a small beer will set you back £4 every thing is overpriced and will make a big difference to your budget, there is nowhere to buy toothpaste or small items on board but you can get a high end watch or handbag, the constant having to pay out soon puts a damper on things, wouldn't be so bad if the prices were not so outrageous .The main theme is Italian so expect cold meat and sweet cakes for b/fast,we tried the full English and I am not exaggerating when I say the fried eggs were fridge cold and the rest was disgusting. evening buffet was OK with more variety available, the entertainment ranged from good to childish,my son in laws father collapsed in palma and we rushed him back to the ships doctor who would do nothing till the cost was explained, there are silent light switches in the cabins but very noisy door locks that wake you up in the middle of the night by some inconsiderate door slamming...the tv has over 80 channels but only 3 are English and 2 of them are news channels I could go on but I think you get my point ..look elsewhere . Poorly run cruise ship. We always book rooms with a balcony – this was BY FAR the smallest room we have ever had – hardly any storage. Room steward was great and did all he could but toilet routinely wouldn’t flush and drain in bathroom emitted the smell of a urinal. Ship cancelled two trips we booked in advance – with less than 48 hrs. notice - as not enough people signed up for them to make money. Cancelled Rome by train – we had an appointment at a gallery so asked how best to get there and they told us there would be a long line of black taxis waiting to take us. Got off ship and walked entire line of “taxis” for half an hour – most were empty – eventually were told they were limos and had to be booked in advance. Asked for other options and were told to go to end of pier to get a shuttle bus that would take us to an area where there were taxis. Walked all the way to the end of the pier and talked to bus driver – he told us he was a charter and we should go back to ship for shuttle. Asked at ship and were told to go to back of line of 200-300 people to wait. Asked how long it would take and was told in very broken English that bus comes every 30 mins. – pointed out that meant a 2-3 hr. wait and was told to get back on ship and see excursion desk. Desk was closed. Went to main desk – they listened to our story then told us it was our fault for not booking in advance and kept reiterating a bus would come every half hour. Said we could go see “Eddie” over by excursion desk – told him our story and after listening to the whole thing said he was just there to sell future trips – he couldn’t help. Gave up and sat on ship all day and missed tour. Tried specialty restaurants – both times in steak house ordered medium rare – had server come over and look – told us it was well done so had to send back. Focus of entire trip was sell, sell, sell. Bought ultimate beverage package only to find out water is not included – costs $5.50/bottle. Internet cost something like $360. Main lobby looked like Wal-Mart on black Friday – selling tee shirts, cheap watches, photos etc. etc.. When we complained about anything, most staff just looked at us deadpanned – no reaction, no emotion, no apology – they are so used to people being upset that they just don’t react. Read Less

The excursion were all terrible and extremely expensive. buses with 30-35 people. the people working the ship are the best part. friendly and helpful. by the way, don't buy the spa or the unlimited internet access, it's a catch. checking out was easy. they're charge you for everything. i fell for the cheap booking $699 but ended up paying $1800 with excursion and spa options. cabin was nice and comfortable. housekeeping was attentive and kept everything nice and tidy. liked the circus show. the spa was crowed all the time. couldn't stretch arms without hitting the next person. left on time so make sure to arrive there on time. just can't say enough how expensive everything was. i understand europe is expensive but didn't expect the cruise to be so penny pinching. Find Below some observations: • Embarkation procedure in Barcelona - made to wait for over 30 minutes in the cruise terminal hall after check-in.There was no general announcement as to why. In addition many had come directly from the airport and were tired, thirsty and hungry. There was no provision for refreshments made by NCL or the Port Authorities (the cafe had closed). NCL should have forseen these circumstances and ensured some kind of refreshments were available. This is compounded with the fact that some had emptied their water bottles at or prior to arrival at the cruise terminal and check-in in preparation for NCL's new policy regarding prohibition of bringing on any type of liquid. Note:The delay in embarkation was due to safety drill being carried out. • Inadequate Safety Drill - was carried out immediately upon embarkation for those that missed the official seriously lacking. The group of people for whom this was for could not all hear the instructions given by the member of crew - mainly because there were just too many people and the instructions given were therefore inaudible • The inappropriateness of the main public central space such as the Atrium being taken over by a bargain 'flea market' sale and a photo studio every day and night • Spill-over noise from clipper piano bar into Atrium - i.e. Not everyone needs or wants to hear various musical games such as 'name that tune' and such like - this issue compounds with previous comments and creates irritation • Extremely loud and inappropriate music on the pool deck • Irritating 'whiny, tinny, pop music being played in outside bars at most times • 'Washy washy!' greetings at the entrance to restaurants. Its clearly evident the crew feel uncomfortable doing this because they understand many guests also don't like it. • Constant announcements or Bingo or 'Name that tune'. Where were the interesting talks rather than everything being primarily focused on making guests spend money. • Announcements made by the CD in the Atrium (and other public spaces) - volume needs to be turned down either that or the CD needs to use the MIC not so close to his mouth. Extortionate prices of drinks plus: • Daily service charge • Extortionate price of excursions • 18% beverage service charge • Requests for tips on receipts - Tender Process Kotor: The perception amongst guests is that this should and could have been handled better by NCL. A passing apology from the captain is not really sufficient. The situation was chaotic and many guests were very angry. At the very least there could have been some pre-warning about the conditions. • There was also a point in the tender process on board the ship where a crew member announced to guests waiting on deck 7 that it was now open tender which resulted in a mass rush of guests to the stairs and then resulting confusion and congestion. The tannoy announcements were still going through the numbered tender process • Is it appropriate that the Cruise Director to call out the announcements numbered tender ticket holders to board the tenders? Could the CD not being be occupied with performing a more significant role? 'Penny pinching': Guests completely not happy about the policy regarding bringing on water to the ship and do not believe the policy is due to safety and security. Read Less

1. Water Epic doesn't allow you to bring water on board. You must purchase theirs. It costs almost $5 per litre 2. Service In general, restaurant service is ok but be prepared for 2 or 3 poor occasions. Too many customers and not enough staff. Plus they don't pay attention and bring you the wrong food. This can happen multiple times. And you wait and wait and wait. If you want to use the buffet instead, be ready for the crowds. Its ridiculous. 3. Prices Shockingly expensive. Drinks and tours are simply crazy. Generally about 3 times the fair price. You will face a monster bill at the end of the week even if you don't buy much. Be warned. They charge for everything and you pay through the nose. $15 for a 5 minute shuttle bus to town. 4. Packed This ship is over full. no sunbeds. No space to move. You wait in line for everything. I have been on NCL before but after this cruise I won't be back. Others such as Celebrity are so much better. Read Less

Entertainment was terrible. Offer 3 shows and one you have to pay for. Other two were weak. No headliner comedian. Too many restaurants and not enough entertainment. Both main restaurants have same exact menu, instead of variety. Very closed-in ship with a very bad layout. You can't even walk the whole deck of the ship outside without constantly having to go up and down steps. No "wow" factor at all, unlike Royal Caribbean and Disney.NCL advertised 4 "free" excursions when we booked, when in fact they only pay $50 per cabin for each excursion which, with the high prices of the excursions, is nowhere close to free. They also charged for one of the shows, which wasn't worth the money . We went into the Ice Bar, which was neat to see, but there was a $20 charge to get in! We won a "free" cruise for 2 at bingo but the fine print says NCL only pays up to $1000. This is one of their many scams.I've been on 10 cruises and 4 Cruise lines and I would definitely not recommend NCL. I would instead recommend Royal Caribbean or Disney. Read Less

We chose Royal Caribbean because we thought they had a good reputation but we definitely should have investigated ahead of time on Trip Advisor. We wanted a great trip with our university-aged children as a last chance at a family vacation with "just us". We booked nice staterooms with balconies and prepared for a great experience. We even booked business-class airline seats as a surprise and decided to really go all out. The only good thing about the RC experience was that the boat was new and clean and the staterooms were great. Beyond that, it was SHOCKINGLY BAD!! The absolute worst part of the cruise was the food, if you could even call it food. We were shocked at how poor the quality was. For example, they served FAKE scrambled eggs!!! You could find fried eggs but they were dry and rubbery. The bacon was a sticky big pile of fat and was of super low quality. When you'd get a salad served to you in the main dining room, it had a pool of water in the bottom and no flavour. One night, they had "salmon tartare" on the menu. When it came, it was made of low-quality SMOKED salmon!? The french onion soup was ok tasting actually but had a paper-thin layer of cheese on top, that was about 2 inches in diameter. And there was absolutely NO flavour in anything. We joked about getting the chef a salt and pepper shaker as a gift! We began to suspect their business model is to make the main dining room food so bad that you are forced to go to the speciality restaurants ... which we did. They were definitely better but crazy pricey! We paid $16,000 for the 4 of us for the cruise (not cheap!) and spent another 3000 on the boat. EVERYTHING was extra. We didn't opt for the drink package so we certainly expected that but you couldn't even get an espresso ... and the regular coffee was terrible and watery. If you tried to order something safe like salmon, it was dry and overcooked ...and, again, tasteless! A glass of Kim Crawford white wine was $15 USD. With tax and gratuity on top of that, it's 400% markup ... over the top! We have no issue with the boat needing to make money but it was ridiculously low value for the price. Even bottled water was a fortune. We expected there to be lots of people on this boat but we've been on other cruises and they were masters at moving people. On this boat, you couldn't even find a seat in the dining rooms. One day, they came over the PA as we were wandering and wandering with trays of food trying to find a table. They said to please finish lunch promptly to allow others to sit! We finally figured out how to go to another dining room that seated you. Also, most of the staff were unfriendly. Probably only about 25% of them would even say hello when passing ... pretty strange to see this on a cruise. Gilberto in the main dining room was lovely as was our room guy but a lady actually reprimanded me for walking around one of those airport tether things as we were disembarking on the last day. I'd inadvertently walked the wrong way and she said, "mam, those things are there for a reason" ... a lovely parting comment! Ha! The food (and the people ... but especially the food) is a big part of the experience on a cruise. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON Royal Caribbean!! Seriously!! Read Less

This was our second ever cruise the first one being on the much fated Anthem of the Seas last summer. Where we didn't have a great time on Anthem of the Seas we somehow caught the cruise bug. We flew to Barcelona one night early and really loved the city and the excellent Eurostars Grand Marina hotel. This was indeed the highlight of our holiday as things were about to get a lot worse as we found out. The Ship. Embarkation resembled walking through a Moroccan Market being constantly hassled to buy things. It was dreadful. I don't understand the tactics behind this. Surely if guests wanted dinner reservations, drinks packages this would all be organised before their trip and not whilst getting on the ship. Our room was nice but basic. It strikes me as a little odd why they are about a third of the size of a conventional hotel room. It was clean etc etc but nothing to write home about. Our main concern was the quality of the food offered on board. Having read other reviews on here and speaking with fellow guests during the cruise it seems we were not the only ones bitterly disappointed by a severe lack of quality. Some days the OceanView cafe food was simply in edible. It resembled poor school dinners. The restaurants in the evening were equally as poor. When spending thousands of pounds on a holiday you expect a certain level of quality. It simply does not exist here. All in all we were very very disappointed with this cruise company and suffice to say will never use them again. Read Less

I had read several reviews of this ship prior to booking some good some bad and decided to give it a go. My wife and I are relatively new to cruising but have had some excellent cruises on QM2, Queen Elizabeth, Disney Dream and Royal Princess (which I will review now that I am a member) so we thought we would give Celebrity a try whilst saving on a long flight to the states. I think from the outset as we were embarking the ship we may have realised that we had made a huge mistake. From check-in to the ship we were stopped at least 4 times--"Do we want a drinks package?" Do we want a photo taken?" Do you have speciality dining?" Would you like a Spa visit?" sell sell sell--Alarm bells ringing!!! Once on the ship the same questions over and over again--there was even some poor girl wrapped up like a Mummy on some sort of contraption trying to sell a Spa product--desperate times! I have read recent comments regarding the food offerings on board. Without jumping on the bandwagon we have to pretty much agree that the food is probably the poorest we have ever had at sea. The Cafe section which serves breakfast/lunch and dinner basically offered the same things every day. The quality was very poor as was the selection. Finding a table at breakfast was nearly impossible and it seemed that all social etiquette was forgotten for a 2 hour period each morning as guests were literally shoving each other out of the way to get to their beloved breakfast. Dining at night was equally farcical with long queues for the Main Dining Area and Hostesses who really did not know what was going on. The food here I would describe as very very basic and simply boring. There was nothing to excite or to look forward to. Dinner really became a chore which is not what you go on a cruise holiday for. Thankfully we had quite a large party at our table (all of whom agreed with us regarding the food) and we simply laughed it off and drank wine to drown our sorrows. Service on the ship is generally ok, but I have to agree with other comments on this site regarding the bar staff. It seemed to our party that if you tipped a bar tender say 10 euros you were flavour of the week and would be served with a smile and immediately, however if you didn't then you were castigated to the end of the line and were really treated with contempt--not quite what we signed up for! Our stateroom was ok nothing to write home about. We did notice that we could hear our neighbours quite clearly through the paper thin walls something we have never experienced before on a ship. Stateroom attendant was as they always are first class and did a great job. We went to a couple of shows that were good and well presented but our favourite was Juke Box who were guest entertainers who were brilliant and provided much cheer for those of us who were not really enjoying the Celebrity "Modern Luxury". All in all our Celebrity experience was extremely disappointing. They should perhaps do what the other Cruise Lines do so well and focus on the guest and not the £ signs. Read Less

Carnival Vista 29-07-16 to 06-08-16 Having taken a cruise on the Carnival Vista on the above dates all I can say is thank god this was not my first cruise because if it had been I would never cruise again! I think warning bells started to ring when we had to take all our luggage to the ship whereas on all the other cruise’s our luggage was taken from us at our home airport and delivered to our cabin or taken from us at our destination airport and delivered to our cabin, not a big issue but one of those nice touch’s that make for a pleasant start to the holiday. Things started to go wrong almost straight away when my twin grandsons (2 years old) were told that they were not allowed to enter any pool / body of water anywhere on the ship, there was not even a paddling pool available? My 2 elder grandsons had a soft drinks package but were not allowed bottled water on the package and had to charge it to the room. My wife and I had a drinks package and also had to present our room card to get water but were still charged for a bottle of water in our room. The drinks package purchased at no small cost ($50 per person per day) was set, up in my opinion to discourage you from using it, you could only have 15 drinks maximum on a card, the card holder had to get their own drinks (one card holder could not go and get a round of drinks). There was no food available for my young grandsons (2 years old) between 1700 and 1800hrs (the time they would normally eat); we were told that only sushi, (at extra cost) or pizza was available! The buffet food on offer was basic and had a limited selection, a far cry from other ships we have travelled on where the buffet food was a delight to behold and choice and quality were abundant. On the first and second night we tried to get into the restaurant to eat around 19.30 to 20.30 but were unable to get a table due to massive queues so the first night we went to the buffet (Lido Buffet in the Market Place), a very disappointing start. Even more disappointing on the 2nd night (the “dress up” night) we were all dressed up but could still not get in the restaurant so ended up in the Steak Restaurant which was very nice but added $200 to our bill, when we spoke later to people we saw in the queue they did not get in to eat till gone 21.15!! My wife and I purchased the Havana stateroom option which at no small cost allowed us to overlook and utilise a very nice private pool and hot tub area, but only till 1700hrs!!! at which time the whole Havana area was taken over by anyone and everyone who wanted to enter and the stateroom occupants were subjected to rowdy pool party’s that went on till late in the evening! In over 40 years of traveling the world I have never felt the need to complain but the rudeness and disrespect of some of the staff was so prevalent that it caused me to complain on more than one occasion! Staff were poorly informed about the ship and often could not answer questions about where facilities were located let alone destination information and often gave wrong directions / information. Staff morale seemed low and one waiter explained to us that this was because staff numbers were low and due to be cut again in the near future! Bar facilities often ran out of popular items like orange juice and at one time the bar on deck 3 even ran out of water mid-morning when we were just leaving the ship for a trip ashore! On previous cruise’s the entertainment had been top rate lavish productions so we had been expecting the same (if not better) but found many to the acts lacklustre and run of the mill. On a positive note the Carnival Vista’s dancers put on two fantastic shows and Ben in the piano lounge is a talented entertainer and presents a not to be missed evening. Last but by no means least if anyone can explain a gratuity system that charges two, 2 year old boys who were hounded out of most of the ships facility’s and could not eat at their normal meal times but were still charged almost $100 each in tips!!!!, I would be very interested to hear it. I would strongly recommend that everyone have the automatic gratuity’s that are added to your bill removed and tip only where service deserves it (as we did ourselves) Read Less

Besides that the cruise is designed solely for italians.. all the activities around the pool are done only in italian and you are always lost in what is happening. besides that the waiters are REALLY IMPOLITE.. excedenly RUDE.. the only people that really kind pf take care of you are the ones at the hospitality desk in the third floor and the cabin maids.. Besides the cruise is for italians mainly.. Truly not recommended for american or other nationalities ..And the worse part is that when you try to talk to the leaders of the cruise the just look at you funny and do no try to do anything about it. It goes to great places but they need a lot of improvement in their entertaining department ( better english and spanish) and much more with their waiters .. very rude and impolite!! NEVER AGAIN IN A COSTA CRUISE!!! Also You Need to watch your final bill. They charge ten dóllars per day for hotel service which is something You Pay in the stated as tíos. They tríed to charge me that And had ti talk ti them And they removed ir. Besides that Let me give You some tips If You do take it. Always try fo have breakfast in the gattopardo Rest. Norwegian Cruise Line is NOT an all-inclusive vacation! Vacationers beware! Norwegian is like a low cost airline trying to charge you for carry on bags and water wherever they can. Here are some examples: 1. Room service is a $10 charge (approx.). 2. No laundry machines are provided, and they extort you with outrageous cleaning prices per item. T-shirts and underwear (even for small children) were approximately $4 per piece! 3. What happens if you happen to bring a bottle of water onto the ship (opened or unopened)? You have to throw it away before you enter so they can sell you bottled water while you are on the ship. 4. Even the "complimentary" restaurants have many items which you have to pay for. This is frustrating if your family member finds a pay item enticing. The list goes on!! As an aside, my family and I did enjoy the ports and had a great time on the vacation... DESPITE Norwegian Cruise Line. Being nickeled and dimed at every turn is incredibly frustrating. Never again! Read Less

The Food has become a POOR selection. Its not the original Carnival food that made it something to talk about. Its more Corporate. The Lido buffet sitting area increased by 10percent. Not enough to handle the 1000 more people on the ship. Employees cannot keep up with the demand of keeping dirty tables clean and it is VERY CROWDED and unable to find sitting. They do now have an eating area outside on level 5. But who wants to eat outside when its HOT, HUMID and VERY WINDY. and you have to commute to sit down and eat. The IMAX and Divein movie selection was too also POOR. they were showing movies were only in the theaters for a week before going to DVD. Did not watch and will not pay 12.95 for IMAX. Cruise Director seemed STRESSED and TIRED. Did not want to talk to the people that pays his paycheck. The Shore excursion desk personal were the WORST. They were selling you excursions that had sights on the tour as selling points CLOSED(and has been for MONTHS now). Because they wanted their commission check and carnival needed the MONEY, They sold it to you anyways. When you got back to the boat and called the shore excursion desk out on it the employees played DUMB. So You then have to call your credit card company and dispute it. Since carnival was no help. I would just like to some up my experience on the carnival vista by saying Don't go on this ship. Choose another vacation. If you have booked already , Check into the cancellation Policy.... We thought it would be a lifetime moment; cruising on the biggest ship in the world but soon found out that it was so over rated. -Food: this was the most let down. RC is a disaster when it comes to quality of food. The buffet restaurant Windjammer serves mediocre food. The choice is particularly limited for Indian Vegetarian. My advice for Indians...just dont go for the hype. RC just does not care about your business. There is just 1 Indian item on the menu. Its poorly perpared. Even your Ready to Eat packets are better than what RC gives you. I tried to talk to the chef there to seek help. He was so full of himself, I could easily understand that these guys dont know customer service besides cooking. Its silly that RC ignores one of the biggest sectors of global tourism. My wife brought hot milk just a while ago from the Park Cafe for kids. She was shocked to find out that the milk had gone sour and had separated. Anything can happen here. Im here for next 3 days, and will find out possibly more. Total waste of money. I had an incredible experience at Star Virgo years ago. Who cares if your ship is the biggest! -Attractions: most key attractions are either closed or are open for a short while only. Most good shows are booked out weeks in advance and venues have only limited capacity. -Shore cruises: We took the 'Scenic Marseille" trip. This was badly organised. The guide hardly could talk in english. Although good at heart, she had so much difficulty explaining that we had a headache at the end of the trip trying to decipher her. We took the Portofino, Rapallo and Santa Margherita trip today. This was incredible. Best experience yet on the trip. Highly recommended if you do get struck by the marketing jazz of RC. Read Less

DISAPPOINTING (1) msc up graded our cabin (or so they claimed) and relocated us directly under the uper dance deck ..... imagine untill 2 am in the morning thump - thump - thump over your head. (2) 80% of the pasengers on the cruise were non english speaking people. ok if you speak italian or spanish but no good for english speaking pasengers. (3) dining room - in their wisdom seated us with a chinese family who spoke little or no english.. . . . . . . . el a cart menue was lousy. (4) auditorium - the standard of entertainment was disappointing. same faces every night on the stage . . .. . . . different dance routines. (5) hotel reception- proved difficult to deal with and at one stage we actually went " face to face" with them, and asked for a full refund. on that particular day (2nd day of cruise) we would have been happy to disembark and make our own back to barcelona. (6) bar cocktail drinks were dreadfull. in the end we gave up ordering them and just purchased simple drinks such as gin and tonic. Cruise is not recommended for english speaking passengers. . . . In future we will be travelling with another cruise line Read Less

The criteria was pretty good: price, room for singles, exact days for my vacation. That's all I can say that's positive. During embarkation my luggage wasn't on my room. They torn away the paper you had to put around the handle. I even put it around the handle you normally do not use when carrying a luggage but they still manage to rip it. Had to call around 20:00 of the first day to recover it. On the first day I found you can't turn off the A/A of the room. You just can regulate the temperature -cool, colder or very cool-. Tried the bathroom and had a leak on the shower head. Asked for a fix and they ignored me. During the night I couldn't speel at all because there was a maintenance room at the other side of the aisle, where they installed the air machine for all the room on that aisle. Too much noise and vibration is a bad combination in order to sleep well. On the second day I went to customer support to explain my case. They said that noise was pretty normal and they couldn't do anything. They still didn't fix the shower either. On that night my neighbors -yes, in plural, even in a "single room"- thought it was a good idea to party up to 3 AM. I called for security to do something and ignored my complain. That was the second night I couldn't sleep at all. On the morning of the third day I asked for the claim form. They said they only have a paper mail thing, so they aren't carrying official claim forms. After that and explaining all the stuff happens last two days they didn't seem to care at all, didn't even offer something for the headache (in their website it says that you have free medicine on customer service) and didn't offer a room change either. They said they were on full capacity. After that I had to leave the ship in order to ensure my health. And what about entertainment? Well, I hope those were odd jobs because everyone I found were so-so. For example, during a broadcasting about Bingo he was dull while explaning about it. I still can remember his last phrase: "it's bingo time, baaby". They also did some trivial about movie titles and couldn't even motivate to take part on it. Those around the trivial were more preocupied in counting floor tiles. By the way, you will find that if you are not a morning person you will never touch a hammock on the pool. Maybe on the first day or during shore excursions but not when you have free time during voyage. Dining was decent, so I don't have any complain about it. Do yourself a favor and never ever choose this company. Read Less

Worst cruise ever. I have been on a few cruises and this was the worst. Our main gripe was the noise, we stayed in room 6241 Fwd avoid this area. After the shows, 6 nights out of 8 a DJ set up his equipment and we had to endure boom boom boom until 3am. We complained and we were told they would monitor the noise. They didn't even come to our room to see how bad it was and didn't ask the DJ to turn it down even though they said they had, in fact if anything it was louder. They did give us compensation, but would have preferred the peace, it's a shame because the beds were so comfy. The entertainment was poor and only lasted half an hour, and found there wasn't much to choose from. The comedians were ok but were set up for the Americans. They were lacking in staff and waited ages for someone to come and serve us drinks, staff were rude and lacking in customer skills. Our waiting staff in the restaurant were excellent though. Food wasn't good. Smoking was allowed in the casino and vista bar, thought it was illegal? The docking ports weren't great, most of them you couldn't walk in to the towns as they were so far away, yet Carnival put on shuttle busses but wanted to charge you a fee, it should have been free, or take us to better ports. We arranged our own excursions as carnivals were too expensive, in fact everything was expensive on carnival. On Dembarkation we had to be off the ship by 8.30, never know to be off a ship that early before. I will not be going on Carnival again. Read Less

We were on the Cruise to celebrate my father-in-law’s upcoming birthday, and it was not the best cruise or customer service by any means. rooms were quite small in comparison to other ships we have been on, the balcony was very narrow, and rooms were not cleaned properly when we arrived. Entertainment was ok, but some nights was painful. Food was good but the menu quite limited and for booking the any time dining, we could not dine at any time! only pre-booked before 7.30 or after 9. the alternative was to join a rather long queue... no thanks. Deck space was good, although not the best on board activities for younger people. Putting green looked old, table tennis equipment was very shoddy, gymnasium ok but far too hot. For the duration of the cruise our stateroom consistently smelt of diesel fumes each evening. After waking up in the middle of the night with the room filled with these fumes, both my wife and I felt light headed and nauseous. We opened the balcony door in order to disperse the fumes and slept like this for the rest of the cruise - not what you would call high quality. The following morning I reported this concern to the Guest Services team who knew about an issue with the ventilation and confirmed that there wasn’t anything that could be done. They also reported that other staterooms in the vicinity whose air flow is directly in line with the funnel were also affected. The member of staff that received the call, although polite, had ensured me that a member of the Customer Relations Department would get in contact by the end of the day, however this did not happen. During the call to Guest Services I made it clear that my wife is pregnant. I was concerned by the effects that the fumes could have on both her and our unborn child. We were on the Cruise to celebrate my father-in-law’s upcoming birthday, and with his concern for his daughter he also phoned Guest Services. He did receive a call back from the Customer Relations Department who told him that the fumes were ‘not dangerous'. He requested for this in writing but was informed that this could not be fulfilled. Our advice was to contact customer services upon our return to the UK, which has taken them over a month to get back to us. Clearly a design fault with the ship that affects all the cabins in the middle of the ship... We have not been offered any compensation for disruption to our cruise and really disappointed that this has not met the high expectations associated with a company whose mission statement is to 'come back new' and we certainly did not ‘come back new’. I would definitely not go with Princess again. I have been with Royal Caribbean and Celebrity, both much better in every respect. If you do book with this ship, do not get a cabin in the middle. We were C608 and apparently all rooms in this central block are affected, and there is nothing that they can do about it. Read Less

After our plane had to be changed due to a run in with a tow truck we arrived to find the ship had sailed and we were then told to make our own way to the next port !!! Great start We arrived on the ship the next day with no help from princess and our arrival was not even acknowledged with an apology or anything . The ship itself is lovely but I found quite a few staff to be quite uninterested in the work or customers . It was kept very clean and the cabin staff all worked hard to keep standards up? Food was okay nothing spectacular there didn't seem to be any atmosphere in the dining room to what I have seen before on other cruises , The entertainment was of a low standard I thought although some of the cruise staff were very good at their quiz and trivia Shows in princess live studio Other acts brought in were not very good , The day we left the cruise was another huge disappointment we put off the ship at at 9.30 am and taken to the airport but our flight was not until 5.30 pm we asked for a delayed departure but was told they have other people coming on board so we had over 6 hours to sit and wait in the airport . Very disappointing Read Less
