Disappointing cruise compared to previous Viking cruises

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Viking Star

We had gone on a previous Viking Ocean cruise and LOVED it. On that cruise we went from Bergen to Stockholm. We told all our friends how wonderful it was. This cruise was the complete opposite. Before we sailed one of the destinations was eliminated (Tunisia) and replaced by Naples which we were already scheduled to go to prior to the cruise. So we had a week in Sorrento/Naples prior to the ...

I chose this cruise to see the Mediterranean and explore cities. The weather was terrible. It snowed or rained almost everyday. The Barcelona tour was terrible. Couldn't understand the tour guide. Asked tour guide if we were going to sagra da familia and she replied yes we will see gothic church. In fact we were taken to a gothic church but it wasn't sagar da familia. Multiple people on the bus ...

Fourth Viking Cruise with good friends. This was the first non river cruise. Not as good as a river cruise. Fewer passengers on river cruise makes it easier to enjoy dining and other facilities. Restaurant facilities not as good as river cruise restaurants. We spent two days in Barcelona before boarding ship which was a great experience. Viking employees at hotel went above board to assist ...

A few months before we travelled i had worries as all the tables for 2 had been reserved straight away on line and didn't have much success with customer services. Anyway, we arrived In Barcelona, lots of Viking staff to greet us but also lots of standing around at the airport. When we did arrive, ship was as to be expected, very Scandanavian - different to others we have travelled on but ...

We've been on over 30 cruises, including four on Viking River Cruises, and used to hold a CLIA MCC Certificate. We were excited by the hype of a new offering and reserved this cruise some two years ago. We were sorely disappointed by this cruise. And, we do agree with most of what mjbkjb had to say about the ship. It is seriously flawed, mostly the electronics. Everything seemed to break down at ...

Beautiful Ship, but Overall a Real Disappointment

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Viking Star

We recently took the new Viking Star from Barcelona to Bergen, Norway. The ship is new and beautiful. The state rooms were a little small, but the shower is great. We had a balcony stateroom on deck 3 which was fine. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Tours, such as they are, are included as is wine, beer and soft drinks at lunch and dinner. Sounds good so far. However, the ...

Anything but a STAR for Viking Ocean Cruises!

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Viking Star

Being my 28th cruise, perhaps I expected too much. After a great Viking River Cruise last year, I forgot about having to book (and pay for) the ocean cruise TWO years ago. As good as Viking is on river cruising, they are diametrically opposite with their ocean cruise. To be fair, the ship is nice. Not spectacular, just nice. The crew (apparently hired away from other high class cruise lines) was ...
